| Leonard stopped and turned back around when he saw the lady now in his face. So she was not going to watch cat videos? Wasn't that the point she was even speaking to him? To get him to let her have his space in the library. Now she wanted to train with him?
"Weren't you supposed to be watching videos or something? Besides, why would you need to sneak in a... library. It's a public place. It's not like you cannot leave it if you want to." He inquired in a mostly serious tone, pondering what could cause this kind of erratice behaviour. "Look, if this is like something the professors put you up to you don't have to fake liking me or anything. I am fine on my own, I don't need other people to try and make me feel better. And if you are on the disciplinary committee, trying to investigate people with this kinda strategy isn't gonna reflect really nice on the image of the people within your group."
He took a step backwards with elegance, fixed his tie then spun around. "Not that there is something to investigate either. I'm just going outside to the fields to train." He would add, still suspicious about the lady but clearly in not any stress or rush to leave the bookshelves. |

| Tip tap. Light squeaking would be heard as Leonard approached the edge of the building he had been instructed to remain until the start of the exercise. Already clad in shiny black armor, the young ex-villain's red eyes scanned the area around him. Despite being pretty fake, it looked realistic enough. So... he was supposed to play the hero while the other guy, the idiot with lizard brains, was supposed to play the villain.
Other people had been divided in groups. Yet here he was alone versus another single opponent. That already told him information about the guy. The professors thought the guy could take him alone.
His own respect for his opponent, however, was below zero. The guy looked like the bog standard egomaniac who thinks they are top dog just because their quirk lottery ended up with a couple sevens on birth. Still, Leonard was not someone to underestimate any kind of fight. Quite the opposite. Growing complacent got you killed. You were always needed to remain at the ready to use as much strenght as you possibly muster. You needed to crush your enemy in any way possible and he was ready to do just that. Psychological assault was as effective as physical trauma. He had just been told to refrain from killing or mutilating. There were many other ways to break a man.
And without his suppressors on, it meant he could really show the guy the difference between playing pretend and fighting for real. And since the "pros" thought this was a fair matchup then it was fair game for him to go all out.

| Leo kept backing off more and more from his position. He had a full field to make use of, and considering that the attacker was not feeling the effects of the heat or signs of exhaustion the young man was already testing a couple theories. First, he wished to ascertain the thing in front of him wasn't indeed a trick of the light. The fact that the other student did not capitalize on him being flashbombed right at the start to sneak in a hit and just stood there doing her floating thing was something pointing towards his hypothesis of misdirection. Not only that, but a construct of light would have no mass, just energy. Thus it would be able to damage things through sheer energy transfer, but would not to affect things in the same way as - he suddenly swiped a piece of glass in her direction incredibly quickly.
He wished to test reactions. Test hesitation. Everyone flinches or braces for impact. It was a subconscious thing, no matter how minor. That is, if the body percieves a danger. If they did not care about attack hitting them they could try and fake a reaction, which could be just as easy to spot. In any case, his first thought on mind was to confirm his target before striking, like always. He did not waste his strenght on proxies and if this was indeed a proxy it had to have a range where control was weak. The trick to fighting people who can use clones or other proxies is force the real one to move or do things. Breaking their concentration is usually a great way to call their game. Thus he kept backtracking as far as he could. And if this wasn't an apparition he certainly would not challenge her in her range. No. He would force her to fight under his conditions.
He wasn't, however, the only one who was feeling the heat. The shackles around his wrists were malfunctioning in the heat. Wouldn't be long before something inside the quirk suppressors would short out, and when they did he would be free. Free to use his real strenght.
"If this is all you can do I'll give ya one chance to quit. I don't like harming ladies."

| Leonard realized something. He didn't not really have to fight per se. He just had to get from point A to point B. There was little reason to engage with the shenanigans of the orher person there. If anyhrinf, her challenge was a moot point and she was more set at being a nuisance to him.
Which meant getting out of rubble and figuriong out a more effective traversal method. From what he saw, she could create light constructs around her position. He just needed space to maneuver around. And at this point he knew exactly how to do so. Another couple slashes from his sword to cut a hole followed by a throw of said sword up in open air, where it melted into a small platform. A similar one appeared under the youth and he was propelled upward.
He made sure to keep switching his trajectory every hop, altering lenght as well as angle to throw off the accuracy of the projectiles coming from him. He quickly started running from platform to platform right there up in the air. He was exposed, yes, due to no cover. Yet that was hardly a concern given the speed he could muster. Besides, the fastest path to the goal is a straight line and at this point not having any kind of obstacle around him was more valuable than getting slowed by difficult terrain.

| Okay, the hammer hurt a little bit, not going to lie. Mostly because it looked like pure light, so it may have weakened the strenght of his protective, quirk-created suit. So that was the catch. Alright then. Could have just said they were fighting. Clever though. She got a free hit in. That was going to be her last.
Light quirks. Why did it always have to be light quirks.
He skid on the floor before twisting his body back on a three point pose to arrest his momentum. He didn't care much for her remark, but did offer a reply. Though... it was mostly spoken at no one given the lady decided to dip after her free hit.
"Okay. I think I understand. Anything goes then? Anything goes."
He stood at the ready once more, using his legs to push himself back upright. He extended a hand forward and a tear in space formed. From that black rift, he slowly pulled out a rapier made of pure darkness, the blade of the weapon flickering as if engulfed in dark flames. He brandished the weapon. "Mal sehen, wie lange es dauert, bis ich dich schlage." He spouted in mother tongue before swiping his sword in a wide arc in front of him, causing anything in a 40 degree angle to suddenly get cut by flash of dark energy. This was just a training field, he needed not to consider collateral. He could pretty much raze the entire thing to the ground if it meant scoring a win.

He did not ask for philosophy, but he was given an answer and he would have to live with that. He quieted down, mulling over what she said. Some of it sounded naive, as per usual, some of it was clichè. Well...if you wanna be completely honest it all sounded pretty clichè. It was something pretty in character for a hero to say all that stuff. Many would say they fight for honor or for others, it was a dance as old as time. In the end, the victor write history and all the atrocities they did to get there get lost to time. As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Yet there was a big problem in Leo's reasoning.
As clichè as it sounded...it also felt genuine. Either the fox was really good at lying or she was really meaning all of it.
The hand holding his icecream trembled lightly. Leo looked down at his feet and gritted his teeth slightly. He stomped closer and sat down in front of the much larger fox. He looked pissed, which for Leo it usually meant he was struggling to remain in control of the situation and it was something he did not like at all. Those two sides of him were fighting and fighting hard. He...kind of wanted to let go, to just let someone else deal with his problems but his past experiences told him otherwise. If you show weakness you get hurt. But hell, deep down if the fox meant what she said then he could also stand to see what she could do if given a chance. Besides, would it hurt to just test the waters? He didn't have to swear himself to her or anything.
"...If you are lying I will fucking kill you for real this time." The vitriol was back again, but it was more Leo's subconscious once again making sure to keep him safe and push people again before they could harm him than him meaning most of it. It was just his reaction in the heat of the moment. He paused, looked at the melting icecream while sulking. "...sorry. I don't... trust people that easy like you do." He said, trying to not let his usual aggressiveness do the talking, taking in a few deep breath to calm down the half baked panick/anger attack.
"...and I want a rematch." He stated after a while. There was still that thought in his mind. He still couldn't accept that he really needed the help or any help. He still felt like the last fight ended with just a stroke of luck in her favor. She just happened to have a quirk that had an advantage over his and he was taken off guard. "I want to fight you again. For real, not some half-hassed thing. Part of me still hates you. Thanks to you I was slammed into five squared feet of concrete for a couple years and have to live with shackles around my wrists in some twisted kind of half freedom. I always stood on my two feet by my own strenght, then you came and ruined everything. You either rise from the deep or you drown in it in my world. Kill or be Killed. If you want to help me then fight me as hard as you can like last time. Prove to me you're better. I wanna know this was really meant to happen. I wanna be sure I couldn't have just beat you and carried on like I did. That you did really have the strenght to end me for good but you decided to do something else instead."

| Straight to the point. He could respect that. Leo would raise an arm up over his eyes to shield himself from the bright flash. So, it was a light quirk after all. That was good to know. He worked better against other emitters. He would be quick to "change" into his battlesuit. That was to say that he coated his whole body save his head in a thick layer of pure dark matter. He did not move much, preferring to instead keep a close eye on the shimmering apparition before him.
"Well ain't that flashy." He commented in a mostly flat tone, watching as the lady started hovering. Was that some sort of scare tactic to fool him into giving up or something? Did not work much. He would backflip out of the way of the incoming lunge with no particular problem, but did not retaliate at this time. He just stood there with a serious expression on his face after her first attack, finding himself under a would be bus stop as he ensured to make some space between them again. The roof on his head would do to stop some of the ambient light and heat for the moment. He was still considering his steps given he was fighting at a disadvantage.
He widened his stance a little, his black bodysuit shimmering in the fiery inferno around them as he considered what he knew at the moment. She seemed to be a punchy kind, at least on the surface, but he was able to react to incoming attacks good enough that his speed could keep him safe. Perhaps he should conserve his energy a bit more, see if his inaction drew out more information out of the oppoent. For the moment, he was not fighting.
He was learning.

Leo was somewhat relieved to now be able to take a breather. As he figured, the fox was out and back around in a few minutes with the ice cream he promised. He carefully took it from her paws, looking down at the cone. "...why." He asked after a moment, taking a tentative bite out of it. Cold, as expected. But Yummy. "Why do you do all this. For someone like me." He would add, still trying to piece out everything this hero was pulling off in his regard. Her kindness truly was almost disarming.
"I barely know you. I tried to kill you for fuck sake. Yet you're here just...acting like nothing ever happened. Like we weren't some kind of sworn enemies before. Hell, I am pretty sure I left a scar or two there. What the hell is your problem?" He got a little more and more heated the longer he spoke, simmering back down soon after. He was conflicted. Part of him did not want to like her, but the other side of him was feeling like maybe. Maybe he could lower his guard around someone this time. Then when he hesitantly tried, his first half started screaming. He really did not like to appear vulnerable. Like with what just happened. He basically almost looked like he was completely at her mercy.
"I don't... I don't get it. What's in it for you? What's it that you really stand to gain for this? More fame for redeeming someone like me? Know that you're better than others?" He was trying to so desperately find the second end to her action. He was sure there was one, just not what it was. Everyone has personal interests. It was just how things always were in the end...

The vibes | Well this wasn't his ideal battlefield but it was of little consequence. Training programs are meant to be set as unfairly against you as possible. That was entirely the point of stuff like this. It needed to push you to the edge. It needed to break you so that you could regrow stronger. Growing complacent was the death of the fool and it was something he had seen many times when he was fighting for real.
"Should be here any minute now I guess." He mumbled, waiting for someone he was supposed to fight. If the field was against him, it meant it would be in favor of the other most times. Which already told him more than enough on his upcoming would be adversary. Either a light quirk, or a fire quirk. It was probably not going to be a mutation, unless said mutation would allow them to resist fire. He should prepare for an emitter versus emitter fight, but remain open to shift his strategy towards a more close range mutation or transformation counter. He would turn around as he heard light steps coming in. Someone was arriving. It was someone he had seen before. Another student. His opponent for today.
"Hello." was all that Leo said to her. He had no reason to add anything else beyond that. She knew why she was there, why he was there and what they had to do. There was one thing he wanted to ask of her, though. "So we just drop at random or we cut straight to the point." He questioned. He didn't mind if she wanted to also try and get the drop on him. He was not going to hold back in any case. Well, at least up to the level of power the shakles around his wrists allowed him. Where those to break in the scuffle...well... that was a problem for his opponent to figure out.

| Leonard looked at the lady before him like she was bullshitting him in the most absurd way possible. That's it? Get from point A to point B in an exhorbitant amount of time? That was the training? Did seem more of an excuse to look at his powers, no matter. He didn't have to hide his strenght. Not with other students anyway. Very few were even capable of handling his suppressed state at this point, if this lady was able to entertain him enough perhaps he could go back to the dorms after a giggle or two.
"Very well then. I will do this training of yours. Sounds easy enough. I'm free to go once I reach the end I assume. Better get to it then. Count me off, will ya. From 10." If she wanted to see his quirk in action then he would just give her the same thing he gave everyone, a look into the deep. He pretty much spoke the next thing with a light grin and a little more want behind his actions the moment the count reached two, standing defiantly to full height as wisps of darkness appeared around him and coalesced into a slick black bodysuit around himself.
"Here goes."
He stood at the ready, the air around him heavier and colder. The moment the time was up all that was left of the white haired student was a cloud of dust. |

Leonard could only hum in protest and surprise as the Hero simply decided to hoist him up and go. Not that he could voice his concerns, by the time he instinctively grappled around her neck she was already up a wall and running. The sudden vertigo hit him hard but thankfully he still had not recieved his ice cream. So there he was for the next five minutes without being able to do much but keep himself huddled up to the fox, which took a great deal of trust for him to do. He was uncomfortable. He did not know how to deal with this.
He hated being vulnerable around other people, he needed no saving.
Thankfully he was let go soon enough, the young man setting his feet down on the grass, looking up at Skald lost and confused. She still talked about ice cream like they were best buddies, or like siblings. He did not quite know how to process that.
He just decided to answer her with a nod and find a place nearby where he could just chill, hopefully without nosy people around. Skald will be back in no time anyway, if her show of speed earlier was any indication of her speed.

| Leonard very lazily arrived to the meeting late. Mostly because he didn't want to show up but had been forced to by the professor who found him around and asked him for even more boring work. So there he was fifteen minutes late approaching the other student around ground Gamma with his usual school suit and tie. Didn't even bother to change. He wasn't taking that shit seriously at all. He needed no training. He fought people for real most his early life. Some of them were beaten to a vegetable, others remained horribly crippled. Such was the brutality of the illegal fight ring he was forced into joining so many years ago. People there wanted to see blood and violence and were willing to pay big and bet even bigger.
"You uuuh... Jun something?." He mumbled, hoping he was wrong so he could go back to his room and lounge about doing something else entirely. "From the message. The one supposed to train me or something?" He was ready to do what he always did, go through the motions with barely enough effort to get by, wait for the bell and hightail outta there.
"So like... what am I supposed to do anyway? Do I have to beat you or something, why did you pick me out of all of the other first years?" Leo inquired, still pretty much standing there doing nothing. He was waiting for answers but she could also keep her secrets if she wanted to. He was just going to dump her there if she remained silent for too long.

| Leonard squared her up again as she starte to talk about cats. He couldn't help but smile a little bit at what she was saying. SHe would then offer her phone at him, asking him to look at something. He very carefully leaned in and gave a quick glance. Yep. Cat videos.
"You know, I had a cat once. For a little bit anyway." He mumbled, figuring he should at the very least try to be somewhat amicable to someone who so far really seemed like was there to actually talk to him. It still felt weird, was more of a...novelty to him but still. "He was a stray like me. He was cute though. Lounged about my room from time to time before I was sent here." That was about as much as he was willing to tell her, mostly because delving in his past kind of upset people and the cat in question did not exactly have a nice end to its tale, thus he'd rather spare her all the gritty detail and move on.
"If you need this place to watch your videos you can have it. Was about to go outside to train in any case." Leo would say after a moment of awkward silence. He didn't like to linger too much in places where he was kind of uneeded. This lady needed to watch her videos so he should try and leave her be.

| Leonard looked at her as she decided she wanted to be part of his business. He was... confused. Didn't she know who he was? Or simply she didn't care. She then asked what he was reading
"Comparative Emitter Quirkology. Was, anyway. Working on my powers. Needed to figure some things out before going out to practice." He answered her, setting the book back into its place. He didn't need to hide around to read manga, if he wanted to read manga he would read manga. Not like the lady on the counter could do much about it. There wasn't much else you could do in a library but read in any case, what you read didn't really matter in the long run. "Shouldn't you have something to do as well?" This time it was him doing the questioning. He still did not believe she was entertaining this conversation for the good of his heart, so there had to be something about her or about him or about the place that was the reason he was being approached there. She did not seem like she was one of those geeks who actually liked to spend their free time in a boring blace.

| Leonard was, as expected, on his own little side of nothing a few paces away from the rest of the people. Again. He did not stop by the library much, but at the end of the day he did need to reach the bare minimum acceptable grades to not let his probation be cancelled and his ass slammed back into prison, so there was that. That meant that no matter how boring or how little he cared for doing the actual hero course. He was about done with things, ready to set the book back on the shelf when... someone approached him.
