Hasani's comment against Kei seemed unusually cruel, perhaps a taste of what was to come for the support course in the near future? She remained seated and absorbed all the information he was giving them, silent the entire time until he was done when she finally stood up, her eyes only trained on the teacher with a mix of amusement and skepticism. ''With all due respect, sensei. Your vision for the support course sounds like a promising improvement. I look forward to seeing how you will put your plans into motion as I intend to stay and put in the work.'' Her response could have ended there, but she wasn't just there to say what Hasani wanted to hear. ''That being said. I believe your comment directed at Hada-senpai just now was unwarranted.'' She crossed her arms, remaining as deadpan as ever. ''Hada-senpai's words betray his level of expertise. It is hardly the case that he couldn't handle an increased workload given his track record. Therefore, I believe his comment was made in jest. Unprofessional? Perhaps, but in changing times such as these what is humor, if not just another tool to alleviate the tension? Is humor going to be absent from your courses, sensei?'' It was a weird question for someone like Masao to pose. She wasn't exactly a humorous person and as far as any other students knew she had never laughed at a joke. Still, her respect for Kei outweighed her need to fall in line, even if she was just bringing way more attention to the comment by speaking up. Eventually she sat down again, letting Hasani reply, ignore her or to let another student speak. Hasani SernaAna BorovskySumi OkitaKei Hada

''You want to wait here?'' Did they have nowhere else to go? Well, it's not like they were getting in the way and she didn't mind the company since Khepri wasn't Ylva. ''Of course, you may wait here, or leave as you see fit.'' She nodded along, taking in Khepri's input as they spoke. Customer was King after all. ''But Egyptian...'' That was going to be a little more challenging, deciphering the vagueness in the specificity of their request. ''I'll see what I can do.'' She always welcomed a challenge no matter how small. They continued to speak in a manner which she found odd. Maybe a speech quirk of theirs? She wasn't one to judge, but sometimes it took her a moment to get what Khepri was trying to say. She had asked a rather simple question, how had they heard of her workshop. From what she could parse through their answer, it sounded like it could have been word of mouth, or one of the posters she had put up around campus. ''You do?'' She smirked, amused by their antics. ''Perhaps you have a little bit of a weapon smith in you.''What an eccentric individual. Usually she was annoyed by buffoonery, but today she was enjoying their company. ''Mafdet-san if I may ask, what was the inciting incident that made you join the hero course, or put differently, why do you want to be a hero?''Mafdet Khepri

''First years, if I recall correctly. They are both hero course students so your odds of meeting them are probably quite high. Mafdet-san is the eccentric type. I don't know them well, but they came to me with a request to have something of theirs repaired. Helt-san wields a metal bat, making my armor an ideal sparring practice partner for her style of fighting. I'm no student of the heroics department myself, but I believe they represent the best of what the first years of UAU have to offer.'' She crossed her arms thoughtfully, occasionally glancing back at Ylva to make sure she wasn't about to run off and do some crimes or some other delinquent things. ''A scriptwriter? Such a vocation sounds time consuming and as much as I would like to explore the different paths, mine is already one that is set in stone. That is to say, I cannot afford to get distracted on my goal to becoming a hero and a weapon's manufacturer.'' She wasn't particularly hungry, but if the others wanted something from the food court she wasn't going to kick up a fuss. After all Ylva was right and she knew it too. She had little to no authority here. Today they were just a group of young women out for a stroll to enjoy the sights and the scene that had sprung up in Tokyo as of late. Despite her insistence to herself that she didn't want anything she quickly caught the fragrance of green tea in the air and knew she had to make a stop to get a to-go cup. ''Scared of rollercoasters? They are a mechanical marvel built by the finest engineers. I have no qualms putting my life in the hands of the brightest minds in our society. Of course, were something to go wrong, I can use my quirk to save us.'' A bold statement. She wouldn't escape a rollercoaster going haywire unscathed, but her armor did provide her with critical protection at a moment's notice. ''Riis-san, have you ever been on a rollercoaster?'' She held her cup of tea in one hand as they walked. She was more than happy to leave the navigation to Misaki. Takanashi Misaki, Ylva Riis

''Masao Ando is my name. Not Masao Andy.'' She retorted, holding her ground even if it was a silly detail to get caught up on. She had already been dealing with her own things today and hearing that she had to do some more extreme Ylva babysitting hadn't put her in a good mood to begin with. The fact that this little gremlin was sassing her back? It only made it worse. Usually she felt like even if she didn't see eye to eye with people she still got where they were coming from, but Ylva? She might as well be from Mars, because she was never going to understand her. ''I know the handbook, and I'm not going anywhere.'' She replied firmly. ''If you refuse to go back with me so be it, but I cannot go back to campus until I know you're making it out of here alive. You may know the handbook or pretend you do, but I have reason to have my suspicions about you.'' Her emotions were getting away from her, but she didn't stop to think things over before speaking. ''Or did Shiketsu not expel you with good reason? So far you have not exactly exhibited model student behavior. Troublemaker gets in trouble when an attack occurs in the city. No one would bat an eye, but at the end of the day the responsibility for your safety falls on me.''Even though Ylva could definitely handle this monster on her own, Masao was a woman of her word and charged ahead, slamming shoulder first into its body as she tried to shove it away, or hold it down so Ylva could freeze it like she had done so many other creatures today. Not only was she trying to be smart with her, but she was doing it while staying within the bounds of the rules that had been put out for students like them. Those rules were fine on paper, but when they applied to every student, it was also on a case-by-case basis. Someone like herself? She would undoubtedly follow them and not do anything reckless, but this woman... She had been kicked out of Shiketsu, rejected for being exactly that. Reckless, stupid, irresponsible. How could someone like her be trusted to keep anyone safe during an emergency situation? The real reason she had come out here was to use her powers and get away with it. She was conniving, maybe even evil. Why had she been paired with this monster again? ''It's Ando. Masao Ando!'' Was she mocking her? This brat had no right being on the hero course, but she couldn't exactly fight her and force her to go back with her either. Not unless she wanted to skirt around the rules or try to redefine where to draw the line. If she did that Ylva would most certainly use it to her advantage. ''I'll humor your little outing, but I cannot let you go off on your own. Where are we headed next?'' She started following Ylva when a giant worm with incisors popped out of the ground, roaring before it descended on Ylva trying to swallow her whole. Ylva Riis

Although her expression was stoic as per usual, Masao was listening to Misaki's story attentively. She wasn't used to working with others on group projects in a similar capacity, at most she worked with one or two other people like her recent collaboration with Sumi Okita. Still, she felt for Misaki's pain and the struggle of pouring hours and hours into something, only to have to change along the way. There was no worse feeling than getting far into making a weapon, only to realize something was wrong with the dimensions, or the metal she had picked out. ''Although I may not be a performer myself I can imagine it is frustrating to spend hours on something that eventually needs changing. Those hours, however, will not go to waste. The time you spent practicing your routine might yet be salvaged for your new routine, or perhaps you end up using them in an entirely new discography. Not to mention you most likely acquired muscle memory and honed your technique in the meantime.'' She looked over at Ylva briefly too, was that scoundrel still tagging along or looking to run off somewhere to cause trouble? ''Aside from my usual projects I have been aiding two other students. Namely Mafdet-san, who had something that needed repairing and Helt-san who has been seeing me weekly for sparring practice.'' She wanted to suggest that they all go straight to the flower garden for selfish reasons, but didn't say anything as usual. ''It is indeed fortuitous that we have been blessed with such nice weather. Although the summer sun shines the brightest, the summer storms are all the more fierce too.'' A vaguely ominous statement in its own right. She looked over at her friends. ''Soup.'' She repeated blankly, then looked down at the spoons again. ''I see. Mafdet-san, this is trivial work.'' She was already putting herself to work, but following their conversation all the while. ''Not sharp spoons. Surely you just want them fixed if the purpose is for them to aid you in the consumption of food?'' She nodded her head once. ''Durable is no problem, but it will take a little bit longer.'' It was an odd request, but a request nonetheless. As a support student her role was to support others and even work that seemed pointless or miniscule at first could still benefit her. It was all working experience after all. ''Back of the spoon?'' She turned it around to review the back of the handle before looking back at Khepri, expression unchanging. Then, she took a small piece of paper and drew up a rough sketch of what the cat and scarab might look like. ''Something like this?'' She handed the paper to them. ''If not, then I'm going to have to ask you to be more specific. Working with metal, even spoons, isn't strenuous to me in the slightest. As for Egyptian magic...'' She put the spoon down with a gentle clank and looked back at them. ''That does not fall within my field of expertise. I work strictly with metals that are practical in nature, there is no magic of any kind involved in the process. I can help you with the spoons, but you will have to ask someone else about magic if you seek a more sufficient answer.'' Turning back to continue working she spoke up again. ''How did you know to come to my workshop? Word of mouth?''Mafdet Khepri

While reviewing her own class structure, as well as Ylva's, she found it curious that the support one had changed so drastically. Most notably she had a new class to look forward to. Think Tank. It wasn't awfully descriptive, but she could get a general idea of what to expect from the name alone. Interesting. With a new teacher in charge of the support department, forming a professional relationship with him would be paramount in her objective to making more of a splash in her second year, than she had in the entirety of her first year of mediocrity. When the morning to attend the Think Tank arrived she was there early. She always made a point to be punctual, bringing pen and paper so she could take notes as the class progressed. ''Good morning.'' She bowed politely at the new teacher as she entered and took a seat near the front row. Her tone was stoic, her expression neutral as she carried herself with an air of seriousness. To a complete outsider she might come across as cold or unfriendly, but if Hasani got a glimpse of her mind he would know she didn't intend to come across that way. Masao was someone who had attempted to bury her feelings long ago, burdened by the pressure of having to inherit the family weapon manufacturing business. She was aloof, but not because she hated people, more so because it was her way of coping with her confusing upbringing and self-imposed sense of duty. Hasani Serna

She was surprised that the red-haired student took interest in their conversation. ''I suppose organic weaponry can be quite simple in its makeup, but given that Okita-san would be in charge of the organic part I expect it would be much more elaborate. Her skills in the biochemical realm are quite unparalleled.'' To her, making swords was nothing special, anyone could learn it with enough time and patience, but sciences were much more intricate. She looked over at Khepri, giving their nonsense thoughts a good moment to process before replying. ''I suppose when you put it like that you're right. I assume the exoskeleton is part of your quirk?''Looking back at Sumi, she wondered how slugs could be relevant to making an organic weapon until she elaborated further. ''I see. A weapon that houses a creature. I believe with the right amount of care we can make it happen, I'll review the materials I have available and we can run some tests for compatibility when we get back to the labs.''Farrin O'Rourke? You would be hard pressed to find a student who hadn't heard about him and his merits, especially if said student was trying to keep up to date with the hero course like she was. Of course she too had heard about him from Freja as they sparred frequently, and the quirkless student had brought up how she admired Farrin's prowess in combat. His accent was unmistakably... Different, but hard to place. ''Surely time, even distilled into the form of a quirk has an effect on almost anything, including bones.'' She posited for the sake of keeping conversation going. It would be just her luck to have the student she was placed in charge of go running into a warzone just to get killed by monsters immediately. Either Ylva was part of some sick twisted plot, hired by her parents to sabotage her career, or she just wanted to see her suffer. Either way, she was a menace all around, but a menace she couldn't afford to have get hurt on her watch. ''Riis-san!'' She finally found her, charging forward, using her quirk to cover her foot in armor, creating greaves to protect herself as she kicked the stubby-legged fish away. Panting, she turned to look back at Ylva with a mixture of anger and frustration. ''You willingly came out here, knowing exactly what kind of situation you were walking into. I would like to enquire as to why, and your explanation better be good.'' She huffed, still a little out of breath from running all over Tokyo Bay looking for this little goblin. Once her initial anger with Ylva had calmed down a bit she looked her up and down. ''Are you injured? We should start heading back. I don't care how capable you are, we are not staying out here past sundown.'' She motioned for Ylva to follow her, although even making their way back to safety wasn't going to an easy feat. The place was crawling with monsters. ''You can count yourself lucky if all we get is detention once we get back.'' Because no matter what, she had to relay this situation to the school, even her own recklessness following Ylva into deep sea horror hell. Was her recklessness contagious? When was the last time she had gone this far for someone else? Ylva Riis

Sumi Okita was one of those promising new talents in the support hero course Masao had already taken note of. While she didn't understand much in the way of biochemical engineering she noticed that Sumi had a knack for not only presenting, but explaining even the most complex theory in layman's terms. ''Bladed weapons may not be as flashy as the equipment that is procured in other manufacturing disciplines, but the beauty lies in their simplicity.'' It was a rather cryptic answer, but she continued. ''Most swords for instance have a simple function, that is to cut or penetrate. On the more advanced side, I've made swords that could channel the elemental properties of a elemental quirk user. In other words, swords that can channel fire or electricity where the wielder acts as its power source.''
Carrying her own tray of food she walked alongside Sumi, offering Akaiken a stoic look. She bowed her head lightly at the new student before taking a seat. ''I don't think it's impossible.'' She took her cup of tea and held it in her hand to let it cool for a moment as she answered Sumi. ''The metal of the blade is flexible and it would merely depend on the organic proponent. Does it require a lot of space? If so, I propose making the model a two-handed sword to compensate.'' She took a sip from her cup and looked over at Akaiken, realizing they were nerding it up at this table with their support student talk. ''Pardon, we didn't mean to hijack the conversation at this table. I'm Masao Ando and this is Sumi Okita.''

She turned to look at the catbug as they entered, meeting them with a blank stare. ''Chugen?'' She was familiar with the holiday, although she wasn't sure Khepri's gesture exactly fit the bill for your typical Chugen. Nevertheless, they probably had good intentions and as such she wouldn't mind humoring them. ''These spoons? Yes I can fix these, feel free to have a seat.'' She began gathering up the spoons and putting her other project aside for the time being. ''What is your name? I don't believe we have met in a personal capacity before, but I recall seeing your face at the hero introductions not too long ago.''Fixing spoons like this wasn't exactly hard, but given the sheer number of spoons it might take a little bit. Still, she didn't mind chatting with the other student in the meantime, figuring out who they were and what these spoons were for in the first place. Their quirk perhaps? ''I'm Masao Ando. As you've probably guessed I'm a support student who specializes in working with metal. Normally this manifests in a passion for sharp weapons however, not spoons.'' She inspected one of the spoons closely, treating Khepri's rather silly request with utmost sincerity. ''Still, this looks like a trivial job. May I ask what you use these spoons for?'' Assuming they weren't a support student since she knew a lot of their faces, even the first years, Khepri was most likely either in the business department or hero course. Her money was on hero course considering how odd this request was. Mafdet Khepri

Her blood boiled silently under the surface as she watched Ylva's performance intently with her arms crossed. Did that girl want to get expelled, or was she treating this whole thing as one big joke? For a moment she was concerned that Ana had gotten caught in the blast, but she seemed relatively unscathed, all things considered. Hopefully she could make it up to her with some fries later. The cat person who started talking nonsense about Egypt and death was another curious one. By all accounts their statement about how Gen should be dead should be grim, but it didn't carry that tone at all. When Momo took the stage again her gaze flickered to the Red Girl. What was she saying? The strong guy from earlier? She was both right and sorely mistaken. Gen was wrong and only sought to make a complete mockery of the hero industry. His posturing earlier, his long monologues, it wasn't a sign of strength at all. It didn't matter if he had no quirk or hundreds, one person could not carry the spirit of heroism. It was just like Red Girl said, they all collectively had to do their part. Even Ylva. Even Gen. She thought back to Khepri's question to the audience. Should Gen be dead? No. He too had a role to play and critically, a couple of years to mature before he actually became a professional hero. More importantly, as Ylva's supervisor she had a grown child to scold. ''Riis-san.'' Her voice was cold, harsh, demanding as she approached the girl. ''I trust you already know what you did wrong, and that I need not break down your idiotic display of power moment by moment? If you want to exercise your quirk for a display, you need to be skillful enough to avoid putting other peoples' lives at risk.'' She crossed her arms and glared down at Ylva. ''You better have a good reason for pointing your quirk at the audience.''Ylva Riis

''Thanks.'' She took the schedule and only skimmed it. She could study it later before the school week began. ''That expedites the process significantly.'' Ylva turned down her offer to be shown around, which she didn't hold against her. Campus was big and she was probably already familiar with it to some degree. Even if she wasn't, if her preferred way to going about learning the place was having her own map and going exploring then so be it. Masao just needed to monitor her after all, not completely stifle and change her personality. It was going to be a difficult tight rope assuming this girl was going to get into trouble at UAU too. When should she speak out against her for being less than an exemplary hero, and when could she leave it alone? She had never found herself in a situation like this before, so it was new for both of them. ''My workshop.'' She added, giving her the number to her place in the support labs. ''When I'm not following you in your schedule, or if I'm not answering my phone this is where you're most likely to find me if you need anything.'' It was just a split second read, but Ylva didn't seem very personable. Masao herself didn't have a big circle of friends, so it was perhaps ironic that this was coming from her, but it felt imperative to mention. ''And a word of advice. Hero school is much easier to get through if you make some friends along the way. Try to form some meaningful connections while you're here.'' She crossed her arms, pausing for a moment before continuing. ''That'll be all from me. Welcome to UAU, I hope you find your time here enlightening. If you have any questions feel free to ask me.''Ylva Riis

That little shit, now she had really done it. Not only was she kicked out of Shiketsu for being reckless, but she was going out to an active danger zone, presumably to use her quirk in public, which she wasn't authorized for last time Masao checked. Ylva was going to be the death of her at this rate, and if not she would be very surprised if she didn't have any gray hairs by her final year at school because of her. She didn't like it, but Ylva was her responsibility and she couldn't sit by while she rampaged around Tokyo Bay with her volatile ice powers. Arriving on the scene, Masao spotted a familiar face among the crowd of people getting evacuated. ''Helt-san, are you okay?'' She both was and wasn't surprised that Freja had somehow gotten caught up in this. Out of all the first years, save for maybe Farrin and Emilia, Freja seemed to get into the most trouble. ''I'm okay, I'm okay, I fought for as long as I could.'' Freja smiled apologetically. ''Idiot. Did you happen to see Ylva Riis?'' She crossed her arms, Freja's stern talking to could wait until she had dragged Ylva back to campus. ''..Ylva?'' Freja blinked her eyes. ''She has an ice quirk, she's a second year student who recently moved from Shiketsu.'' Whichever part it was that Freja recognized it seemed to finally click. ''Oh! I saw her, she's-''So long as no sea monsters were attacking her she wasn't going to use her armor. It would be a waste of her quirk and she was probably going to need every power reserve she could muster to get her and Ylva out of this mess. With Freja's directions she headed further into the Bay, following any traces of Ylva's powers along the way. ''Riis-san!'' She would call out periodically. Unbelievable. Why did the school pick her? Why couldn't it have been someone else on the hero course? If Ylva was injured or god forbid, had hurt a civilian, she was in for a verbal lashing. Ylva Riis
