While a few competitors had easy ways to deal with her ice block, more than a handful weren't so lucky. No named faceless 'background' characters were sent upwards by the ice block with at least one of the affected pulling themselves out of the water

Ylva didn't mind the cold she had about a decade of experience with ice quirks not even including her own. It was a family thing and she wasn't going to let them down by losing here. Making her way down to one of the caverns she saw someone about to grab a few gems. Thrusting her hand forward, she would snap a block of ice around the feet of the competitor, making sure it was buoyant enough to send the person up to the surface by their ankles. [break][break]
From there, it was a matter of priorities. It seemed like at least a few of her competitors didn't mind sabotage as, from what she could see on the surface, some of them were waiting for others to come up. Ylva would take a different approach as she gathered the gems closest to her, and instead of sending them up, she would coat them in a dense ball of ice with multiple layers, causing them to sink to the bottom of the arena. When the time ticked down far enough, she would just gather them all up, and anyone who tried to take from her pile would find themselves on a one-way trip back to the surface. [break][break]

Clearly, what Ylva was doing wasn't just confusing Khepri; some of the crowd watching the event began to scratch their heads and point at her. She had managed to confuse some of the people close to her as well as they would steal nervous glances, figuring that whatever she was doing wouldn't be good.[break][break]
As Ylva nearly finished what she was doing, the sky above the arena began to shimmer with the signature diamond dust-like flashes covering the area over the arena. Since she couldn't risk anyone getting seriously hurt here, she would slowly close her palms as hundreds of small hailstones, no larger than a 100 yen coin, hovered in the air briefly before raining down on the arena, targeting any red balloons floating around and popping them by the dozens in one go.[break][break]
Hopefully, this would not only end the event in one go but also show Khepri how much of a difference there was in skill between them. She wanted to send a message to Khepri and everyone else in the competition; she was going for an absolute victory no matter what.[break][break]

The sound of people crashing didn't bother her one bit. They should have come more prepared if they wanted to win, and winning was the entire point of being here. There were plenty of team sport events they could have participated in if they wanted something easy.[break][break]

[attr=class,bulk] Things were turning bad fast. With Ylva as confident in her strength as she was, she was certain she'd be able to disable Jacko right here with her Super Move. It ended up being only half true with his legs being caught and before she could create another orb he glowed.[break][break] She couldn't have warned Misaki if she tried as the combination of the quieter but still loud music and Misaki's quirk being used on him she wouldn't have heard her. What Ylva did hear was an ear piercing scream and an overwhelming pain in her body.[break][break] She may not have fallen as Misaki did but perhaps being conscious was the worse option. Her muscles spasmed causing her hand to open and clench uncontrollably and she grit her teeth just to make sure she didn't actually spasm enough to bite her tongue off. [break][break] As the pain continued, it turned to fury, Ylva's stubbornness and efficiency over everything attitude as the only things that pushed her not to fall. Whether Misaki succeeded or failed it was her job to guarantee he didn't go on to hurt the others. She had confidence in them to get their job done and she had to have that same confidence for herself. [break][break] She would charge up everything she could muster using Winter's Grasp to create two huge spheres out of her energy, one in each hand, which she then hurled at the Jacko. This had to do something since Ylva herself couldn't manage to stay up much longer as long as this electric current kept going. Ylva was on a roll here. With her not being concerned with the perception of others, she had no problem sabotaging and taking balloons that others were about to help anyone else keep up. There were a few quick or airborne students that were able to move faster than she could but she had one thing they didn't - range. [break][break]
Ylva would focus on a row of about a dozen balloons using her extrasensory network to aid her and then clenched her fist, popping the dozen almost simultaneously much to the irritation of those who were trying to do the same. Between blocking out Khepri and the anger the other students directed at her, in a way, all eyes were on her.[break][break]

Ylva gripped the handles of her bike in anticipation. She was glad this wasn't a foot race as she wouldn't be able to place well even if she could set traps for others; she was just very slow. Well, she was still faster than Andy and that clunky armor.[break][break]
The starting signal would ring out and Ylva would lean on her bike and start to accelerate. With a person coming up on her right as she went she would produce a sheet of ice a few feet in front of them which would cause their bike to wobble at first and then they would fall flat on their face. Ylva was tuning out some shocked voices from the crowd as she focused on the race, she wasn't going to lose her no matter what.[break][break]

Being stuck with Andy was bad enough, but the other two were acting exactly like her. They were making things too complicated from the start, so she would state again , "Keep together, slow down, and disrupt others. As she approached the starting line she would point to a team that looked much happier and frankly hyper than they did "We don't need to test the limits of the bomb we just need to watch them fail and do the opposite. She was fairly sure that they would do something stupid, like have one of the group run ahead and try a long-distance pass. [break][break]

They were still within eyesight of Ylva, and as she walked, waiting for her turn with the bomb, she would wait until the bomb was being tossed to another person in the hyperactive group and would freeze the portion of the wall where their hand was. This, of course, would make them slip and fall, to which Ylva would count the seconds until the bomb exploded, knocking them out of the race. "TEAM 6 ELIMINATED." the loudspeaker would ring out, and Ylva, with her hand extended to grab the bomb once the nerdsmith finally handed it to her. Boy, was she mad.[break][break]
She could tolerate Jun and Misaki; they both could be equally annoying in their own right. Misaki, if she got too chatty, would not be much more than your average person, Andy, however? She didn't want to be saddled with that chatty redwood. Her very existence irritated her to her core, and as much as she would have liked to, she wouldn't throw this exercise to get back at her. Her ambition triumphed over her dislike for Andy...just a little bit. [break][break]
Unlike her usual resistance to conversation, she would be very outspoken after Andy's dumbass, usual rant. "I'd suggest taking your own advice, Andy. This exercise requires teamwork, and I don't intend to fail; if you want to be presumptuous, I'd say find another group." She would begin stretching, which was her first time at the sports festival. She'd look over to make eye contact with Jun when she was done. "Keep close together, slow down, and disrupt other teams." If the pressure of the event wasn't enough Ylva ran into the person she absolutely couldn't stand the most aside from Masao - The cat. Her eyes remained facing forward but hardened as her face turned into a scowl, letting Khepri talk before "Get away from me. I don't like you, and no, you're going to win. I am."[break][break]
As the signal to start ran out, Ylva quickly got to work. For the balloons closest to her she would freeze the air above them into the rudimentary shape of an icicle, popping a few red ones. When a nearby person aimed for one closer to her she'd form a sheet of ice under their feet causing them to slip and accidentally hitting a green balloon creating a domino effect that caught up a few others in the crossfire.[break][break]

Anyone else giving that reaction to Ylva opening up a bit about her family situation would have made her leave the conversation immediately. Truthfully, she was struggling a bit with the lack of contact from her parents since the Sports Festival; they weren't happy with her placement even though she did well. With no siblings or any family that she knew of she was a bit lost. Lost enough that even Andy didn't seem as annoying as she usually was. [break][break]

Now this event was much more Ylva's speed. She didn't have to be mobile or even move from where she was standing she just needed to pop as many balloons as possible. The goal was simple pop the red ones without disturbing the others. She didn't know how many balloons they were going to release which might impact how fast she got this done but it wouldn't stop her from a complete victory.[break][break]
If that wasn't enough it was a free-for-all, which Ylva always found better than being forced to work as a team. The amount of people she would willingly team up with could be counted on one hand and one finger: Misaki. She was just happy to not have seen Masao yet let alone be paired up with her. A death race? Really? Ylva was in a particularly irritable mood. She had managed to see where she ranked after the last few matches and she was STILL behind. She knew that somewhere, her dad was watching and was going to give her an earful if she didn't place well enough. [break][break]
Even though she wouldn't normally consider doing something like this, it was a different story- she had to win. So as she pulled her bike up to the starting line she would take a look at her competition with most of them, surprise, surprise, being built like you'd expect for someone in this event.[break][break]
Ylva would lean on her bike, ready to take off when the starting bell rang out. Not being able to use her quirk directly on others wasn't ideal for her but being able to use it on the field meant they'd be lucky if they even managed to finish.[break][break]
