Ylva was entirely focused on the clear water in front of her. Some of the quirkers suited for this match were definitely more eager, but she didn't plan to let that stop her. Water wasn't as much of an obstacle as one would think and she wasn't exactly a bad swimmer. As the starting signal rang out Ylva wouldn't hesitate, running forward to diving headfirst into the water. She was surprised how warm it was as she had fully been expecting something closer to a plunge into the water.[break][break]
Unfortunately for everyone else, it was about to get a LOT colder. [break][break]
With her sensory network muted, she didn't have the luxury of being precise with her quirk, and in the water, especially for this event, it didn't matter. She would dive deeper heading towards one of the caves before stopping to extend her arms out and create a sheet of ice that would rapidly expand into a large wall and begin to float up. For anyone unlucky enough to be in the path of this wall they would find themselves being brought rapidly to the surface.[break][break]

"Recall is...alright." She hadn't had much time with her personally and while Recall from her limited experiences was chatty she wasn't as chatty as some of the other professors. Ylva herself didn't care much for the idea of investigation work, so she never pursued her agency as an option, but maybe Kiku would have better luck. "Glad something came your way." She was genuinely happy that Kiku got what she wanted after all, she deserved it more than most in her opinion.[break][break]
As Kiku explained her situation, Ylva paused, thinking for a moment before simply saying, "So your reason for attending UAU is revenge?" She didn't feel like it was her place to judge her reasoning, nor did she actually want to. She didn't advocate for revenge either way since the last time she did something out of anger and vengeance, it ended up getting her kicked out of her old school. [break][break]

The rest should be able to handle themselves. Masao surely wasn't going to do down the easily, at least from physical wounds, that was. She might have been mentally weak but at least Kiku wasn't afraid to snap her out of her stupor if it came down to it. Enma could take care of himself as well so both her and Misaki could deal with the problem at hand.[break][break]

She still couldn't hear much, but she could use her other senses, and it gave her an idea where everyone was without having to look elsewhere. Kiku was on the move, and the other two were dealing with their own 'pet.' With Jacko and the other fully ready to throw down in close combat Ylva would alter her approach. She had yet to use her other Super Move in combat but there was no better time than the present for a little test, especially if it bailed Misaki out. She was fast but couldn't keep up the fight forever which was precisely where 'Winter's Grasp' would come in handy. [break][break]
She would cup her hands together and slowly release them forming a small orb of blue energy and reeling her arm back she would toss it at the distracted Jacko. Hopefully if successful it would freeze him to his core and give Misaki some breathing room to either back off or attack. [break][break]
tl;dr Ylva leaves the monsters to the other and focuses on Jacko. Activates her Super Move, Winter's Grasp, and attempts to stop Jacko's movements by freezing him in the orb that she throws at him.

Ylva had tons of bad experiences where she had tried to get by just by her conduct in class and not contributing socially, but that always seemed to bring her more attention. Heck, before Kiku every time she tried to just be by herself someone would interrupt her peace and quiet with some nonsense. Was that different than what Kiku did by landing on her veggies? No, not at all, but she took the right steps to own up to it and did it in a way that wasn't annoying.[break][break]
While she could clearly tell something was up as Kiku was anything but subtle she continued to eat without saying anything. It wasn't her business to get into whatever Kiku had going on, she'd help if asked but Ylva wasn't exactly the most proactive person. Ylva began to stretch and warmup for her bout. She preferred fighting at a mid to far range, but he aimed to address her weaknesses by getting better at close combat. Admittedly, there was no way to rectify her lack of speed, but an accurate, powerful strike would have been just as effective if someone had tried to take advantage of her weakness.[break][break]
From what she understood, Enma was comfortable fighting in close combat, making him a useful training partner regardless of the outcome. However as she was finally warmed up he opted to leave. She would stare for a moment blankly at his request, he talked too formally for her tastes, it reminded her of Masao. "If we ended up sharing the same class, sure." She wasn't one to seek someone out but this just meant she'd need a new opponent.[break][break]

Ylva agreed with gambling. Only an idiot left things up to chance when you could just guarantee success. It was all about results or at least that's what Ylva was told growing up. She based her life around that ideal and with that you didn't need people to depend on or surround yourself with. Ultimately this begged the question why she was willingly connecting with a peer? Truthfully she didn't even know, but she didn't mind spending time with Kiku at all; she understood how to act properly.[break][break]
"Have you checked?" Ylva wasn't surprised she received offers after the Sports Festival, but she was surprised that an agency like Bansho wanted her to join them. After some time had passed, enough to get them all healed they were sent on another mission. Ylva didn't have an issue with the mission more than the people involved. Barring Kiku and Misaki the other two had proven time and time again that at the first sight of trouble that they'd break down, not very suitable for the battlefield. At least Enma had more of a reason to seeing as someone he knew died in front of them but Masao was just being a baby. Still, having the other two girls around made this much easier and with any luck they'd help this raid end quickly without any more casualties.[break][break]
This place was an absolute nightmare. Ylva took in her surroundings, eyes narrowing as she blocked out some of the music by placing her hands over her ears. Three targets, and from her quirks and sensory abilities, one was clearly human, and the others were probably the same as those monsters from earlier, just...more advanced. Then it attacked and Kiku and Enma went into action. They didn't have as much experience working together as Misaki, Masao and herself did.[break][break]
One benefit of Ylva not talking much was that her roommates could understand her pretty well without verbal communication...to a degree that was. She would smack Masao and point to her chest, the dog, then flag down Misaki and the man on the wall. If there was a better place for the two of them to use their quirks, she wouldn't have found it yet. Moving out of the path of the dog she would aim her quirk in the direction of the two on the wall and attempt to encase the wall in ice to make the two fall. Hopefully Enma and Masao could keep the dog busy. [break][break]
tl;dr Ylva tries to instruct Misaki to support her and for Masao to suit up and go at the dog. She then tries to make the wall that two other enemies are hanging on too slick to stay up there.

Ylva raised an eyebrow. Why would people think she would feed them drugs? What had happened in that class? "You have bad luck." She rounded a corner and pushed open the door connecting the building to the cafeteria. As much as she enjoyed cooking, she was there to improve her skills, not eat like some people did. It was all about being faster and expanding your knowledge; any idiot could find their preferred palette.[break][break]
She would pop out her earplugs to hear Kiku properly and put them in her pocket. Kenko and Kinzo were loud, and she found out pretty early on that with some earplugs, you could make the club bearable. She wore knee-high boots, a long skirt, and a tan sweater with her backpack on. Another late night and another episode of Kenko and Kinzo fighting over their cooking ideals. Unfortunately this meant that Ylva and, subsequently Kiku were also subjected to their bickering, but it was better than the alternative of being forced to interact with all the other members. Ylva tried to avoid Freja Helt as much as possible as their shared heritage and her inability to speak with conviction got on her nerves. She kept trying to make connections between the two of them, but she was too chatty. [break][break]
Kiku was different. At least when she said something it was interesting or there was a point. "I'm out. See you." She'd pack up her stuff and gesture Kiku to follow. She had mentioned wanting to grab a bite to eat earlier, and Ylva was hungry enough, so she'd head to the cafeteria with her. The two idiots could spend the rest of their time-fighting.[break][break]
"Was the PR class worth it?" Ylva was asked to go but she declined. Her internship didn't require her to do any PR and doing some tricks with her quirk felt like a waste of time. If no one was hurt that was good enough.[break][break]

All things considered, Ylva was a decent swimmer. On land, she wasn't exactly quick on her feet, but in the water, she could move, which meant she expected another complete victory from this event. She briefly scanned the people gathered for this event and with none of them being anyone she recognized or cared about she definitely didn't have to hold back. Not that she would either way, but fewer attachments, bad or otherwise, was always a good thing. At least, that's what her dad always told her.[break][break]

Rebreather and goggles were all she needed. Water made her quirk a lot more potent and anyone who thought she wouldn't block off ways of escape or block their progress was in for a rude awakening. She stretched wearing nothing but the items required and her swimsuit. Carrying anything else was a crutch and she wasn't about to win with a handicap.[break][break]

As the explosion came Ylva would do her best to put up a small ice wall to block it, which ultimately sent her backwards and out of the ensuing crater to be turned dark pit and when Ylva got her bearings it was clear that their problems had just begun. Some of the people here jumped straight in while others, particularly a big armored stop sign, were trying to recover. Between her and Rui's ranting about trying to kill everyone and Ylva had had enough.[break][break]
She'd approach the frozen Rui from behind as she ranted to Kiku, and Kiku threw it back at her and gripped her by the horn, and with a tiny toss in the air, she would kick Rui as hard as she could in the direction of the hole. "I'll catch up. Don't get yourself killed." She'd passed Kiku as she jumped in the hole and approached Masao.[break][break]
"Andy, we don't have time to have you cry. This is a battlefield; if you can't handle it, you need to go." she'd point to the teleporter near them before turning back towards the hole. "If you're too scared, go home; you can't honestly expect to keep up with us hero course students." The last part wasn't as much malicious as it was to steel Masao's nerves. If Ylva knew anything it was how to Masao to get back up and keep going even if the only way to do that was to compete against each other. So as she approached the hole she'd make her way down with the rest, to whatever nightmare they were diving further into.[break][break]

Bit by bit and piece by piece they were working to dismantle the Tide as the others took care of the sturdier of the two. Noa's timely intervention took a lot of the pressure off of Ylva to subdue the Tide by herself. With her injuries, no matter how much she tried to push through, if she was to try on her own she would go down without doing anything. Whether it was a desire to protect or not be a hypocrite she dug her feet in and continued to freeze.[break][break]
Whether it was fortunate or unfortunate that Rui took this opportunity to make her appearance was yet to be seen, but Ylva wouldn't have been able to detect her anyway. With how many run-ins they had and the odd circumstance of how Rui's body worked, she didn't have to turn around to recognize that voice. "I don't have time for your nonsense today." The healing was...odd. In all of her encounters with Rui she had never once been helpful so the timing of her healing was odd. It helped her focus and between her and Noa's efforts, it seemed like they had done it.[break][break]
"Not something I'm going to leave to chance. If it's between life and death, you can't be allowed to run around." with the grass and dirt still wet from the previous flood, Ylva would aim for Rui's feet, attempting to freeze her in place for the time being. The healing was nice, but splitting focus at this point in time wasn't good. They still had to deal with these imposters AND the Rumbling golem.[break][break]
