Thats okay!! Forgetting things happens, right? Especially if you're busy catching up, I think the important part is that you're okay. Oh also, I hope your friend is doing well too and it was fun!

On the way there Rin kept debating if she was wasting her, and Iphi's, time or not. She was hoping this could somehow help her learn more about her own Quirk, make it better somehow. She did want to help Iphi in her research too but she couldn't see how replicating her Quirk with a machine would be very useful... except maybe if it could do what she did but wouldn't freak out over everything? It was weird how that was both reassuring and self-depreciating at the same time.
In the end it was only because Rin had met Iphi those several times in the past before, that she was someone her older brother both knew and trusted, that Rin managed to get herself through the door.
If the door was closed Rin was going to give a polite, soft knock on it before peeking inside - and if it was open, she was going to peek inside all the same. Offering Iphi a nervous attempt at a smile, she forced herself to enter the room properly with her hands together in front of her before giving a quick and most likely overly formal bow. "Hi... Hi, Iphi-san! I hope I'm not late? Uhm... have you been well?"
Not sure exactly what else to say, Rin fell silent hoping this wouldn't be super awkward.

Rin stayed tense throughout the mention of control quirks being regulated, even though she knew it wasn't like she was the one at fault or anything. She didn't answer that question for awhile though, just giving a quiet nod to show she understood. When Miroru softened up a bit though it was a huge relief... even if she wondered if 'not being the type' to be out late with someone was a good or bad thing. Did that make her too boring or lame or something? It didn't sound like an insult at least, so she tried not to let herself go down that particular spiral of thoughts.
"Uhm, yeah, I'm okay. Better than before? The... drunk, had a healing-type quirk, and I didn't ask them too or anything but they noticed a little burn I got during work and healed it right up. I think it was refreshing, too?" She gave an awkward laugh, hoping that a drunk using a harmless Quirk on her randomly wasn't some big cause for alarm or reporting or anything. "Uhm, they mentioned it being free of charge so I think they had a license and stuff for using it!" Adding that hastily, and genuinely believing it after she had said it, Rin was left with considering Miroru's offer. She didn't want to take advantage of her or refuse her either, on the off chance either way hurt her feelings somehow. "About the uh... morning help, only if you want to?"
That was the best, if very meek and uncertain, answer she came up with. Inching close to her door again, pillow still hugged tightly to her front, she finally answered that first question about control quirks: "Just so you know, uhm, I had a... pretty scary run in, one time, with someone that had a control-type quirk. Luckily we got away safe and sound though!"

Rin gave Freja a smile on deciding on coffee, relieved her roommate wasn't the type to insist she make a decision. She honestly would have been fine with either anyways, and she gave a polite little "Ahh" of understanding at the mention of where Freja was from. She started to chime in to agree with Emi that it was hot, mostly to try and help with the obviously uncomfortable situation, but then Freja said it wasn't hot and that... that meant agreeing with one of them would be disagreeing with the other one and she didn't want to offend Freja or Emi.
So Rin didn't say anything at all, at least until she was screeching awkwardly over the power outage.
"It... It'll be fine, Freja-san!" Rin stammered out a reassurance at Freja's dramatics, torn between being panicked and amused and wondering if Freja was joking or actually panicked herself. Emi being so quick to get on top of the situation was actually a huge relief though, and it helped put Rin's mind at ease before she could get properly worked up over the blackout. "O-oh, that's really handy, Emi-san. Thanks!"
She was just as curious about the glowing, glancing briefly at Freja in a moment of gratitude - her asking meant that Rin didn't have to, and didn't have to risk causing offense or anything.

"Ah, sorry, I'm Gotoh Rin!" Rin hastily answered Futaba before she scurried to a seat, hoping she didn't sound particularly rude herself... and wondering why she couldn't remember to introduce herself properly in the first place and save herself from moments like this. At least talking to Freja about books was a good way to take her mind off it. "That sounds relaxing, though." She noted regarding mostly reading books about flowers. Rin herself didn't really read books about flowers and the kinds of books she did read probably didn't count as any sort of informative at all... so she was relieved when Freja turned her attention towards asking the librarian a question about Quirkless books.
She didn't laugh at all, of course. She just quietly glanced from Freja to the librarian, wondering what it must be like to be Quirkless. Was it better or worse than having a useless, dumb Quirk? At least to her Freja seemed like a tough, upbeat person and being bold even to apply for hero courses without a Quirk?
Height difference aside, Rin felt very small in comparison.
"Ah... if you need any help looking or anythi-" Rin started to offer, only for someone she didn't know to arrive suddenly and loudly and declare their reason for being late in such a weird way that Rin had no idea what was actually being said by the end of it. She just kind of looked over at them with slightly wide eyes and a dumbfounded look on her face.

Rin just gave another awkward laugh that trailed off into silence quickly. She wasn't sure what to say about that, but at least she believed her? The frown after she told her what happened made Rin wince though, and she hunched into the pillow she was holding a little more over the course of her repeating the events back at her. It sounded even more pathetic hearing someone else say it. The question at the end startled her though, hastily shaking her head back and forth. "I'm... I'm sure. I know what that uh, would be like, if that makes sense?"
As tired as she was, and as awkward as this whole conversation was, she was hoping she wouldn't have to explain that one in more detail or anything either.
"But yeah that's pretty much what happened." Rin confirmed hastily, hoping to move the conversation along if nothing else. "Uhm, sorry for the concern and everything? It cant be fun having to check up on people, especially when it's super late and all..." Miroru

"Ah, hello!" Rin hastily chimed in after Freja greeted her - with the storm she'd forgotten to actually do that and was mentally kicking herself now. At least she seemed amused instead of offended, and Rin gave her a wobbly sort of smile before nodding. "Not... Not really no... and uhm, coffee or tea would both be good! Whichever is easier?"
When Emi walked out Rin was just as surprised as she was, giving a little start and twisting around to look over at her before relaxing. "Y... yeah, no need to apologize!" She chimed in with Freja, before glancing over at the fridge when Emi mentioned making food. "Thank you! You didn't need to do that." She flashed Emi a more stable smile, genuinely appreciating the effort their roommate went through on everyones behalf there. If it was just Rin left to her own devices she definitely would have ended up stranded without food. Shuffling over towards the fridge, blanket still wrapped around her, she made sure not to crowd Freja but was unmistakably interested in snagging some food for herself.
And then the power went out with another loud noise, and all lights went off and Rin couldn't help but shriek in a way that sounded a lot like a bird squawk.
Clapping her hands over her mouth in the dark, she glanced around in a futile hope that they would somehow not know it was her that made that embarrassingly awkward sound. Slowly lowering her hands and tucking the blanket around herself even more, she called out in a hesitant panick: "Emilia-s...san? Freja-san?"

Rin was dead asleep, half-curled and half tilted diagonally across her bed and completely bundled up save for one hand and part of an arm. Her phone was in bed next to her, dropped when she passed out in the middle of using it the night before. She didn't hear anything about the weather and slept right through the sounds of wind and rain picking up right until that first big crack of thunder. Then she was wide awake suddenly flailing and sending her phone clear off the side of her bed as she tried to hastily get up - only to get tangled in her blankets and tip over the side of her bed with an undignified "Gwack!" sound as she followed her phone to the floor.
With a quiet whine and rolling over to lay on her side for a moment, Rin wasn't sure what was going on yet. Only that this wasn't the best way to start a day. Maybe she could just disappear under her bed if she rolled under it? Another loud crack of lightning startled her, and the brunette scrambled to her feet and scooped up her phone off the ground. Tucking her blankets around herself for comfort and safety, Rin cautiously ventured out of her room and glanced around to see if her roommates were also woken up by the storm.
She saw Freja, making coffee it seemed?
"D... Did the storm wake you up too, Freja-sa-" Another crack of thunder and Rin flinched, cutting herself off as she scrunched her shoulders down and hid just a little bit more in her blanket. Peeking one eye open, realizng she was making a fool of herself, Rin did her best to straighten up a bit and give a weak smile as she tried and failed to act more casual about the weather outside. "Its very... loud, isn't it?" Freja HeltEmilia Hall

As Miroru picked apart her answer, Rin shrank more and more behind the door than she already was. Not even consciously, she wasn't planning on shutting her out or anything, but every point made was this weird mix of intimidating and exhausting - or maybe she was just exhausted - and... frustrating? That just made Rin feel bad about being frustrated, and she might have started rambling out apologies when the other girl pushed on the door.
"Ah... we can talk outside!" Rin's voice cracked a bit as she objected, attempting to quickly slip out of the room and close the door behind her. If Miroru really forced the matter she probably couldn't stop her, but Rin didn't want this conversation to end up waking any sleeping roomates up. The fear of inconveniencing them like that actually made her forget all about being in her pajamas out in the hall being why she had the pillow she was clinging to or why she was hiding behind the door in the first place.
It probably seemed incredibly suspicious but really Rin was just that awkward - doubly so when she was as tired as she was.
Assuming she managed to keep the conversation in the hall, Rin was going to flinch at the accusations and shake her head back and forth rapidly. "No, I... Sor... I'm sorry, I wasn't really trying to hide anything... and I don't have any boys in my room or anything, I promise! My uhm, my boyfriend would probably be really mad if I did." She tried to say that in a lighter, joking way but her nerves made the delivery pretty weak... and it probably lended credence to the idea that it might be her boyfriend she was trying to hide. She actually wasn't but she couldn't help but flinch internally at somehow making herself sound even more suspicious. "It's just... it was just one customer, is all. A drunk, they uhm... showed up as I was on my way out after locking up and seemed to think they knew me? Just that drunk, I guess? But they kept talking about getting burgers and I didn't want to make them mad or anything so..."
There was more to it, but the more she clarified the more pathetic Rin felt about it.
If, on the other hand, Miroru really did force herelf inside then Rin was going to end up scrambling away from the door for something else to hide behind - and then desperately try to keep her voice down while more or less going over the same story. Miroru

Test success! Or at least partially, I guess? I'm not sure if it's workign for Emi-san or not yet, but it probably should be working fine? And I'm okay with it if Emi-san is! Homework can be really tough and help is always a good thing, right? I'd be happy to help either of you too as much as I can too! Make sure you take a break when you need to though? Rokuhane-san is very dedicated and intense and might not realize its break time! Freja Helt Emilia Hall

She wasn't aware of it, but Rin had most of the same thoughts that Freja had about it when she was reading the email about the library. She was far behind her peers already and in desperate need of some way to catch up, to get better at... pretty much everything. Even things that this school wasn't actually supposed to need to teach you, but Rin was still clinging to the hope that she could learn them here anyways. In the back of her head, she was wondering if the school had books about llife skills and social skills and things like that - if she could bring herself to ever actually ask where she might find something like that.
Not long after Freja arrived, Rin came in as well - bag held close to her chest, almost like a shield of sorts.
Glancing around and relieved that there wasn't a huge crowd yet, she recognized Freja. Was she here for the same reason Rin was? Or was that kind of presumptuous of her? Even though she didn't have a Quirk, Freja seemed a lot more confident and coherent than Rin felt. Turning her attention back to the librarian that had invited them here, Rin gave a polite little bow and introduced herself. "Hello, Tamoshiro-san, and thanks... thanks ahead of time for your help!"
Feeling awkward, Rin scurried over to a seat - giving a brief questioning glance at Freja to try and get an idea of if it was okay to sit next to her. She didn't want to crowd the other girl or anything, but she also didn't know who else would show up and a familiar face was reassuring in a way. Either way, after Rin had taken a seat either beside her or a few chairs down she kept her bag close to her chest and asked hesitantly: "Do you read a lot of books, Freja-san?" Hearing that, Rin tried to straighten up a little more and look less... however she looked, that was giving the impression that she needed something. She appreciated the concern but more than that was this overwhelming feeling that she was distracting people from their own problems and day to day by being so overtly falling apart-y. Or however it was she looked to them. But, her attempts at seeming more fine than she was didn't really work or even last that long hearing that courses were only going to get harder, and choices were going to get harder too?
She wasn't confident in her Quirk or creativity either, but the choices part was what she found really scary.
Bringing her hands up in front of her but not sure what to do with them at Jun's question, she tried to think of how to answer it. "Ahh... well, the scenarios are... definitely pretty intense!" She gave an awkward laugh, and she considered just leaving it at that. How could you tell someone that pretty much everything under the sun stressed you out? "But uhm, to be honest with you Jun-senpai... I'm not really all that good at dealing with any kind of stress? I guess it just feels like a lot, all the time?"
Hopefully that made sense, because Rin couldn't think of a better way to put it.

The cafeteria at UAU was way more impressive than Rin had personally expected it to be. Not that she had thought it would be bad or anything, not for a nice university like this, but it still went way beyond what she expected. Mostly because of the variety available. There was all kinds of things to choose from and looking around the cafeteria at all the different things different people had, the vast majority of it looked great! Some of it was stuff Rin had no idea what was, likely from some place outside of Japan and the kind of thing she would have to get used to if she tried it, but nothing looked horrible or disappointing or anything like that.
Normally the brunette was a bit of a burger fiend but today she went with a nice big slice of pizza, with all manner of toppings on it. She didn't eat pizza often, didn't know if this kind of pizza had a name or not, but it looked and smelled great!
Tray in hand, she found herself with a new problem - where to sit? She barely knew anybody here still, and there wasn't any outright empty tables to sit at. Maybe she could try eating outside the cafeteria or something? But, this could be a good chance to try to get to know somebody too, wouldn't it? Approaching a spot that at least wasn't super crowded with preexisting and newly formed friend groups all loudly chatting with each other, Rin hesitated opposite where a boy with very light hair with bits of pink and blue mixed in was sitting.
Like always she didn't manage to make eye contact, looking down at the table instead and asking: "Uhm, excuse me and sorry if I'm bothering you, but is it okay if I sit here?" If the boy said no Rin was going to apologize again before hastily scurrying off elsewhere, but if he didn't mind she was going to carefully and quietly sit down for her lunch while mulling over a new problem that she wasn't sure if was just in her head or not - was it awkward to just sit here and eat lunch without any conversation? Taking a bite of her pizza, for a little bit she could let her anxiety drift off into the background as she just enjoyed the flavors and textures and the way they all played together. Unless the boy happened to start up a conversation first, Rin was going to ask: "Have you tried the pizza here? Its - ah, I think at least, it's really good."
Rin hadn't thought to check when she said that, but if he happened to also be eating pizza she was going to feel like an idiot. Auden

The lights suddenly turning on startled Rin as she whipped around to glance towards the light switch. In her head she somehow feared that she had been followed back to the dorms, but just below that was the fear that it was a roommate she had somehow inconvenienced or irritated. Instead there was no one there, and any relief she might have felt was short lived when a voice called out. Was that the dorm mother? Between the muffling and how tired she was, Rin couldn't tell... but despite the reassurances she couldn't help be terrified that she was about to get into trouble or that the commotion - even though it was barely any noise at all - would bring roommate wrath down on her.
That particular fear got her to get up and start towards the door, only to hesitate. She didn't want to just walk out and half a conversation in her pajamas, but she also didn't want to keep anyone waiting or risk causing more of a scene. Spotting one of her pillows she snatched it up and hugged it close to her as a sort of shield as she scurried off to answer the door. When she opened it, Miroru would see an exhausted looking brunette with her hair askew - but not bedhead - and dark circles under her eyes peeking out the door and the barest hints of a pillow between Rin and the door.
When Rin realized it wasn't the dorm mother, she wasn't sure if she was relieved or even more scared now - somehow she'd been so loud or something that she had gone and inconvenienced another student making them worry about her!
"Sor... Sorry, I'm okay!" She was trying to think of the best way to navigate this conversation, to put any worrying about her to rest and to let both of them get to bed as soon as possible. "Uhm, just had some last minute customers is all that really delayed closing! You know how it is."
Rin gave a quiet, awkward laugh that peetered out immediately, internally flinching at the 'you know how it is' - did she?!? Rin had no idea if they had any experience with working that kind of job! At least she wasn't really lying either, even if it was just one person and not several and it wasn't delayed closing so much as... letting herself get pressured into opening back up after she had already closed.

Betterment of the self...
Hearing that from a teacher made Rin feel better, even if she was increasingly anxious about the exercise that was swiftly coming up. What side would she be on, who would she be with, who would she be against, would she be able to keep up? Because it was a contest with opposing win conditions for each side, that meant someone had to lose, right? Nobody would be mad at her if her side happened to lose, right? She wouldn't get thrown out or a bad grade because the other side was just too good? Unless it was just that she was just that bad and ended up costing her partner a victory by being incompetent.
All those thoughts got temporarily tossed aside when someone mentioned mutiliation and the brunette brought her hands up near her chest in concern, glancing around at the teachers and the other students - that wasn't going to be the case right?!? A lot of people spoke up against that, though, and it slowly started to calm her down. But she did notice that Freja seemed pretty worked up herself? Was she also worried about the exercise or the mutilation comment? And then someone asked to go against Freja, and Rin couldn't tell if that was just... normal, or if they had also noticed Freja seeming a bit off and were trying to target her? Would anyone even want to be Freja's partner for this?
For that matter, would anyone even want to be hers?
Raising her hand hesitantly up over her head, Rin mustered up the courage to ask in a maybe a little too loud voice - trying to make sure she didn't speak too quietly on accident. "Ca... Can I be on the same team as Freja-san?" Then she dropped her hand right back down, hoping she didn't cause a scene or make things even more awkward for anyone. Privately though, she couldn't help but feel just a little bit proud of herself for managing to speak up at all.
