"OH. Um. No, I just- wanted to give you time to... y'know." Miroru said as she handed over the treat. Put your shirt back on, not that it worked... "... finish the project," she ended weakly. With the stuff handed over, she had something else to focus on, and she started to work putting everything together and making room in the boot soles to accept the housing for each. "It's okay. I don't really know how you could have tested it all. It hasn't got controls or a power source- it's entirely going to be managed by my quirk and positioning. Can't hack analog, you know?"
She paused to consider the question. "Right now? No, I don't think so. I'll need to field test these and think of some improvements. I'm sure I didn't nail it the first time. But with some practice, I'm sure I'll have a whole new list of custom parts I'll need."
The redhead looked to Hiyori. "Are you sure there's nothing you want me to do to pay you back besides the snack?"

Glass was an extremely clever choice. Miroru couldn't pinpoint what it was he'd picked up to throw- infrared light passed through glass, after all, so her technique of tracking his gap in the infrared landscape couldn't tell her what he was holding, but no matter how quick he threw the glass, he had to change his evasion to grab it, and Miroru was ready for it. After all, he'd shown the propensity for creation when he made his suit, so stooping to gather objects from the surroundings only left so many motives for doing so.
As he broke his evasive tactics to try his play for more intel with a predictable follow-up to the move to snag the glass in the first place, Miroru did her best to punish the lapse in protective maneuvers, angling to dart the image in and throw a punch for his ribs. The image wasn't just matching his speed, it was also backed by Miroru's very real hand to hand skills, and the blow had a good chance of landing unless some trickery kept the blow short of that black suit he was wearing.
There was, of course, a limit to her range, as developed as her skills were, and when they hit about 75% of the distance she could handle, the image stopped and brought both hands up, fingers curled inwards towards him like she was trying to squash him. The heat dramatically ramped up to dizzying levels as the light around him got painfully bright- the latter more a cosmetic misdirection, seeming to imply he was being cooked with direct light when the reality was far simpler- infrared heat was just being redirected directly around his body.
As for his taunting offer for surrender? Well, Miroru didn't hear it.
She wasn't nearby, after all.

Miroru scampered out and hurried to the concession stand and headed for the freezer. It took a little while digging around to find something appropriate- a strawberry shortcake ice cream bar, it looked like- and to get it to the counter and pay for it. She didn't have much spare money- really barely any at all- but this was a pretty huge help, and she didn't mind going out of pocket for a sweet treat to thank Hiyori for her help.
It was hard to get the petite girl out of her head. Seeing her without her shirt hadn't been in the books, but now that she had, the image stuck, leaving Miroru to slap her own cheeks lightly on the way back to try to clear her distraction.
She waited outside for an extra couple of minutes, trying to make sure Hiyori had plenty of time to finish before she barged back in on her potential toplessness, then headed in, waggling the treat! "Strawberry snack acquired!"

"I'd never! I'm not a liar. I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it. I WISH I could get my hair to lay flat like that. Yours is gorgeous!" The compliment returned lit her cheeks up and she laughed anxiously, clearly unused to dealing with compliments. "Aw, stop! My hair's a mess!"
The redhead grinned at the intro. "Toshiga... wa... san, then... say... you're not..." The question was obvious. Related to Leonid? Of course she was! Even if she didn't look fuzzy in the slightest!
"Oh! Full speed, please. Or at least, as quick as you feel comfortable going with all the obstacles in the way. I'll hopefully be able to skirt past the obstacles with my boots, but from what I hear, you might be fast enough to outpace me anyhow!
Does that answer your questions?"

She didn't quite go into more detail, curbing herself before she did, and dropping a compliment instead. Which Miroru appreciated, and flashed an unrehearsed smile colored by a bit of flush. "Aw. Thanks. And you can mess with me, just not when it's sunny, mostly. Though really, that's only so useful. It's not like orbital strikes are all that useful for everyday villainy and street level crime. So I've put a lotta work into, like. Hand to hand and conditioning and stuff."
She didn't say anything when Thea looked away, just relaxed into her chair and looked forward as well. She was quiet after the bit about how people tended to act. "... I can get that. People do that a lot. Do it around people they think can do stuff for them, more. Like the kid they want to provide instant shade wherever. Or hide them so they can sneak into locker rooms. Or get them a hookup with their hero dad." She snorted, squirming the tip of her foot into the ground. "And yeah. They really fucking do. Lie, I mean, heroes. It's... awful."
Miroru looked up and back at Thea at that last comment. "I don't think so. You seem like- you might get misunderstood a lot. Maybe even you'll do some things that feel awful. But I don't get a scrap of malice off you. If you hurt people... I think it'll be on accident. Or because it's for the best somehow. So of all the things you might be... I don't think asshole is going on the list. And if I'm wrong... I dunno, Thea.
Even assholes deserve friends."

"HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO WATCH SOMETHING INVISIBLE, DUDE?!" Miroru screeched, momentarily satiated by the satisfying thump of her foot shoving Sebastian off his monstrosity and allowing her weight to settle at last so she could crawl off safely. But then.
THEN.
The sky darkened. Literally. Sebastian said what he said, and Miroru froze as she was standing up. The light from the sun dimmed, the sky over them went dark.
"死ね" (die)
And then things got much, much brighter.

"YOU."
Miroru yelped, infuriated, as she entered the meeting room and found Sebastian sleeping in yet another invisible shinbreaker. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?! Didn't you inflict enough damage by littering the commons with all those hammocks of yours, Sinclaire?! Find someplace else to nap, this room is reserved for people that actually wanna improve themselves and their teamwork, not for... for... nappers! There's plenty of rooftops and shady trees for those!"
The redhead walked right over to Sebastian's hammock and started shoving on it to bounce him awake and get him moving. "Go on, get! This room is occupado! And no whining! Thank your lucky stars this is going better than last time!"

"GYAAAH! HEY STOPSTOPSTOP!" Miroru shrieked, shoving her hands against her thighs and squashing her knees together as she shot into the air, tail floofed wildly as she did her best to deprive any potential audience so much as a scrap of fan service. "I did it cuz you left these things all over the place and I tripped over one and spilled my drink and it was irresponsible and YOU'RE irresponsible and you should clean up your stupid INVISIBLE TRAMPOLINES BUT INSTEAD YOU'RE NAPPING AND NOT LISTENING SO I HAD TO WAKE YOU UP SOMEH-WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOIIIIIIIIIIIIING!!!!"
Miroru shoved at Sebastian with her feet as he blindly bounced closer, trying to keep him from landing on her without compromising her hold on her skirt's hem!

"I'd kinda say you are! You got a lotta people impressed without all the possible complications of having a super powerful quirk or something. They saw that you've got the potential, drive, discipline and all that other good stuff to be an amazing hero without rocking a quirk at all! So that means if someone asks "what's the heart of what makes a hero great"... I'd point at you, I think."
Miroru was firm in her assessment and brooked little room for debate!
"Eh, I dunno about stubborn foxes, but it sounded good," the redhead admitted with a grin.
"Oh, Miroru's perfect. I'm happy how I am now. People see who I feel like, and that's such a relief. At least most people. Everyone else can go fuck themselves," muttered the redhead, recovering with a smirk. "Well, then I'll call you Freja until and unless you tell me something different. It's all good to me. Um... except... you shouldn't be living to try to make Freja happy. You can make part of your principles living that way, but you need to make you happy, first."
"Especially if your family refuses to see who you are behind who she used to be."

"JUN-SAN!" Miroru squeaked! "Oh gosh what happened are you okay?!" She called out, hurrying back to Jun with a horrified look on her face, moving to help her roll over. "Don't worry about that, that was an awful fall and you look like you're hurting real bad! Or- do you want a distraction..?" The redhead seemed torn, but tried to do as asked. "Um... I wasn't thinking of an agency yet. I didn't necessarily think people would follow me like that. I'd sort of figured if I helped people have the right mindset, they'd form up together of their own accord and probably start an agency or two on their own..?"
The redhead glanced at the school and frowned faintly. "I'm not sure if I'd be much of a teacher. I feel like I'd lose my patience a lot. And if they keep enrolling jerks, I'd probably make a nuisance of myself trying to discipline them into being less... jerkish," she admitted.
"How bad does it hurt..?"

There was immediate relaxation at being addressed appropriately addressed, the respect inherent in his acceptance settling her nerves substantially. "Thanks. I can't always rely on my quirk for an offense- there's lots of types of quirks that don't give me anything to work with, and so I lean a lot more on the utility side of the EM fields. Broadcasting evac directions, providing visual locators for rescue teams, or checking out layouts inside structures by reading infrared presence vs absence. I can mess with visibility and technology pretty effectively, but that's not super great for taking out criminals." She chewed on her lower lip. "I'm working on it, though. I'm good with my fists and I'm designing equipment- stuff that won't be vulnerable to interference unless someone's got a beefier EM control rating than I do." Which was a small and constantly decreasing list.
She frowned, but listened, as he went on to analyze her game plan. "You're not wrong, but couldn't you have just busted into the building from up there and taken hostages that way? The insight about the Quirk is fair, I didn't really have much idea what you could do until you dropped down covered in energy. I shouldn't have leaned on that answer, I didn't have it originally." She shook her head, though, at the idea about personal versus natural energy. "It's got to do with the type of energy. If someone's messing with energy off the EM spectrum, it's off my register. But... a lot of the time, the results can be mitigated. Like, let's say you literally exploded. Sure, that sounds scary, but explosions are superheated air expanding and creating pressure waves, and combustion, both of which either rely on, or primarily create, infrared heat as a means of causing harm or propagating themselves. Stop the infrared transfer of heat into the air molecules, and the explosion stops before it starts." She held up a finger. "That won't help against someone whose quirk is actually creating pressure waves themselves, or stuff like that. But it's all about categorization. My quirk doesn't care where the EM phenomena comes from, just that it's in my domain."
When Demura tried to critique her threat to turn off the lights, she gave him a flat look and turned off the lights.
Literally.
Killed the sun.
Or, more accurately, walled it off from reaching them, leaving them in dead darkness with no light allowed to move inside a large dome. "I said what I said, sir."
The effect ended shortly thereafter all the same, so he could continue. "... you're not... wrong, though. It'd be a lot. I'm not saying I'd be a great match-up for eveybody. Like I said, I've got tricks and utility, but outside certain circumstances, my quirk's stopping power is pretty limited. So I'm working on that." She clenched her fist hard enough to pop her knuckles audibly.
Hearing he'd been testing her to see how she'd react under pressure startled her. Her eyes went wide at that, and her cheeks colored in pleased surprise to hear his reaction. "I- thank you, sir. That's what this was..? Did- I worry somebody..?"

The redhead snapped, eyes narrowing angrily. "It's Miroru. JUST Miroru... Sir. And I'd argue it's safer to engage you on street level. Up there, there were no good angles that didn't send attacks towards civilian architecture liable to have people behind the concrete. Down here, if I attack from the right angles, missed attacks hit the road or sidewalk, which-" Her focus shifted a brief moment. "-aside from along these lines," she stated, as the light in the area shifted to display a highlight of the subway system duplicated under Ground Beta, showing exactly what areas she couldn't afford to hit by checking what areas had radiated infrared light from solid objects and which spaces had none due to BEING solid objects. "-are safe to hit without danger of striking civilians or damaging infrastructure beneath the streets. Besides- your quirk is energetic. I can't say for sure that turning your attacks against you would have much if any effect. It'd be safer to cut the light to the area, focus on preventing your quirk from damaging the surroundings, and keep you engaged until I could either wear you down or someone who could arrived."
Her father's name deepened her scowl, real anger leaking into her tone. "HE would have tried to fry you where you stood, yeah. No call for surrender, and no particular concern for collateral damage. "All part of a day in the life," though- right?" Her words were sliding chilly the more her teacher projected himself as a fan of her father's and compared the two of them.

The sense of... something utterly lightless settling over her opponent's body did a lot to reassure Miroru that whatever she needed to do to try to take down her opponent, chances were he could take it. Her lightform assault was FAST, after all, but he managed to move at the same pace to back off and try to buy time to observe and learn.
Something she knew the value of all too well and had no intention of allowing.
From her isolation, Miroru kept up the assault, every punch from the lightform becoming more and more accurate and deliberate as time went on and he proved she couldn't take it easy on him. He'd very rapidly discover something worrisome- Miroru wasn't just a punchy sort. She was an extremely skilled punchy sort, with more than enough sheer combat talent to hold her own in a ring against the best the world had to offer outside of quirk modifiers. Add to that the lightform's speed matching his own, and he'd find that while he was able to keep himself out of its reach if he stayed completely focused on defense and evasion, he'd be extremely hard pressed to do so while maintaining an offensive of his own.
And a defensive battle wasn't going to be in his favor here.
With the intense heat permeating the Conflagration Zone, he was going to discover that losing body heat from his exertion was, essentially, not going to happen, leaving his body temperature creeping slowly upwards towards the threats of heat stroke rendering him unconscious... all while his opponent insulated herself completely from the radiant heat and got to keep still, her only heat concern being the burning starting to collect at the base of her wrists as she pushed the lightform to keep up with Leo!
