Admittedly, this was not exactly a favorable match-up for him. His Quirk had two capabilities: chains and fire. His chains weren't entirely useless since the villain's body wasn't entirely made up of flames, but the other half of his quirk was pretty much worthless. Then there was also the matter that he was primarily a hand-to-hand fighter, and it's not like he could employ CQC against an enemy like this given the size difference. Unfortunately, he didn't exactly have the luxury to measure his surroundings, come up with a plan, and protect Kyōshū all at the same time. Priority number one was making sure Kyōshū didn't go down because if Kyōshū fell, then that was checkmate for him.

"Forward. Circle around while it's distracted. Attack from behind."

The orders came in, and Kyōshū obeyed them perfectly. He dashed around the villain, Masquerade carefully skating behind him and assessing the situation on his behalf. Chains came bursting out of Masquerade's chest and flew in an arcing loop to try and ensnare the villain's arm to try and stop its punch from hitting Auden. If he was successful at ensnaring the villain, he and Kyōshū would dig their heels into the ground and tug back on the chains with all of their strength (C Rank) to try and hold it back.

tl;dr: Kyōshū and his not!DarkShadow attempt to chain up the villains arm and hold it back to try and stop it from hitting Auden.

''That was me! It was me!! I'm Mummy I kill people!'' She cackled at Miroru, clearly proud of how she managed to poison several patients in the hospital incident. ''Yeah!! Yagyo minions, show this guy how-'' Before she could finish her sentence, Rui got caught in that very same aoe attack that was targeting Yagyo's minions, as she was pelted by flames and beaten back. ''You're ignoring me!'' She hissed as she frantically patted out the last embers on her, looking after the boss. ''I'm telling my brothers! They're totes going to kill you!'' Picture it, Sho, Lilian, or Callisto by themselves were scary, but all together? This flame idiot didn't stand a chance!!

Once she was done throwing her tantrum she started thinking about what to do next. Just kidding. As if she needed to think, Mummy was the most fearsome villain of all and she could beat anyone! She didn't even need to use any brain cells on the Inferno. Kyōshū was just in time as he threw out his chains, affording her a golden opportunity to strike. ''That's it chains!'' She called out to him as she began dashing at the boss. ''Hold him still!'' Approaching from behind, she jumped onto the villain's leg and began attempting to climb up his back, laughing through the pain the entire time as residual burns covered her body. ''Gimme your face!!'' She yelled, persistent. ''I'm gonna stab you in the eye, fam!''

TL;DR: Rui proudly confirms that she was the nurse Miroru suspected. Rui gets caught in the same aoe attack that was directed at Yagyo's minions, threatens the boss with telling her brothers about him so they will come beat him up, then uses Kyōshū's chain attack as an opportunity to try and jump on the Inferno's back, getting burned as she tries to climb up to reach his face.

For a moment Yagyo forgot about the rampaging fire 'hero', tipping their head just enough to make the floppy ears tip to one side as they turned their attention to the conversation going on. Not that Yagyo knew who anyone here other than Rui was, maybe vaguely at best recalling some mention of Rui's shenanigans that involved them? Rui got up to so many shenanigans that sometimes it was hard for Yagyo to keep track though! But the energy-absorby-shooty girl knew recognized Yagyo too it seemed and that prompted the costumed villain to puff up proudly.

"Are you Mummy's Besti-" The rain of fireballs obliterating all those newly created minions, causing them to poof back into being rubble that promptly got scorched and burned away, made Yagyo whirl around with hands flailing about and complaining in genuine offense. "Hey! It's no fun just blowing them up all at once! You're definitely in for it now!"

That last part was going along with Rui's threats, and then Yagyo was left wondering what to do - pebbles turned into monsters weren't really smart enough to avoid getting blown up right away. Clapping costumed hands together, they scurried along with Rui as she chased after the fire 'hero' with one hand held up like a prepared high-five. "Alright, new plan - the great Yagyo is calling for volunteers for temporary monster minion positions! Just need to give you a tap!"

Anyone who took Yagyo up on their offer would get a quick tap, assuming nothing interfered, and temporarily transformed in a variety of ways - they might get monster wings, they might get claws, but whatever features they ended up with would mostly just give them new options to make use of and not directly power them up. If nobody took Yagyo up on the offer, they'd just resort to more rubble minions!

TLDR; Yagyo thinks Miroru, Auden and Takamiya might be some of "Rui's Besties", gets offended about Inferno destroying all the minions so quickly, follows Rui chasing after Inferno, and offers to give anyone who wants it a monsterification buff (these buffs are entirely narrative context and don't modify stats, but the transformations are themed after folklore creatures and can give contextual abilities).

✧ THE INFERNO ✧

Either The Inferno was just that unlucky, or this was by far the most frustrating people to deal with. Perhaps both? "It wasn't supposed to be like this.." he grumbled, resigning himself after being stopped by Auden and the fox girl having disappeared.

"It wasn't supposed to be like this!" he would call out more feverishly as Kyoshu was able to wrap his chains around him, keeping him from moving.

Rui jumping on his back was the final straw. "IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS!" he screamed, resulting in waves of shockwaves as he catalyzed the extra energy Miroru had provided earlier. This caused his form to build up as he grew taller. The extra energy resulted in a constant wave of heat coming from his body as if surrounded by an aura. If anyone stayed too close, they would experience burns, the resulting burn getting worse depending on how long they stayed in contact with him.

"DONT TOUCH ME!" he screamed in Rui's direction, kicking off the ground fast enough that if Kyoshu and Auden stayed where they were they would either get dragged along or blown away. He would wind up and aim a super-powered kick towards Rui easily breaking her neck and sending her flying if it connected. Successful or otherwise, he would turn his attention back to the group who could now see that cracks were forming all over his body, radiating heat outwards that slowly spread with each step he took.

"I KNEW IT! You- AUGH! NO TIME!" Miroru screeched as Rui exposed herself as the murderer, Mummy! With the Inferno in the streets, she was- almost hilariously- a small fry. There were bigger, burnier problems afoot compared to her and Yagyo, as much as they both needed to get handled.

"Deal. I'll flash an exclamation point in front of you if I need help. Things won't be what they seem." Miroru spoke to Auden as he came to support her, and she welcomed his presence. "Things" already seemed to be changing- even as she spoke to him, he could see her in place beside him- but her voice was moving away behind him. "Let him come at me if I don't ask for help. I'm gonna tire him out." Then the faintest sound of footsteps, just two- and then nothing but the roar of the flames.

Everyone was doing their best. Auden was draining off all the power he could, Rui was climbing up the thing despite its flames, the boy from the alley had chains flung from his shadow and was hauling on them to restrain the monster, and Yagyo was empowering everyone and everything she could. And the beast was swinging at ghosts of the fox, smashing into the concrete without effect, and-

Oh. Oh, no.

Inferno rose upwards, towering overhead and sending terrifyingly strong waves of heat outwards, sure to scorch and char the others. Abandoning her cloak atop the balcony, Miroru sprinted out into open air, darting at absolutely amazing speeds as she circled the towering titan of thermal terror, hurling a hand out towards him and siphoning away the heat he was putting off, dragging it to herself, to a single point centered in the clutch of her fingers. It'd keep the worst of that heat from damaging the others, giving them more leeway to get close if they needed to- and reducing the general collateral in the process!

Skidding down to a stop with the others, she called out, "He's not stable! Look at the cracks! The more he outputs, the less he can control it- and himself!" Eyes scanning over the creature, she held a hand out to Yagyo. "Do it! Show me what you got, Yagyo!"

It turned out... Yagyo had some impressive tricks, indeed.

Miroru howled and raced back into the sky, beelining towards Inferno's face and ricocheting off in a heartbeat, trailing an intense heat shimmer behind her as the energy she was stealing built up in a radiant mirror behind her back, collecting rapidly as she darted around and smashed into the Inferno from different angles moment after moment, trying to hold his attention while she leeched his power and gave the others time to find ways to tip the scales in their favor!

Yells at the murderer, decides there's no time, starts blocking the radiant heat by absorbing it into a single spot, has Yagyo turn her into SUN WOLF and starts harassing Inferno with her speed and reflexes, bashing into it from different angles while skywalking to keep it occupied, steal more power, and buy the others time to tip the scales!

I can pay no price too great for justice.

Ah shit, this was going a lot worse than he had predicted. Auden had hoped that it would be a quick job and that they'd all be able to get out of here quickly, but this Inferno dude seemed to have a major stick up his ass. Seeing the man that he'd saw on the ground before stop the blew from hitting him, he'd give a small nod in his direction before follow his advice. In the chaos, he hadn't even noticed much of what the others around him were doing, or what had happened to Rui.

The Inferno seemed to notice the situation he was in, and proceeded to get heated up more than before. Even with Auden's experience around heat with his own quirk, whatever this beast emanated was stronger and bolder; a raging fire based off of pure anger and hatred. Seeing that he started to become even more unstable, against Auden's better judgement, he stayed close. He was in no way immune to the flames that he beast created, but his clothing provided some protection from the rage of his flames. This is my fucking element, I can't let him go just yet. Knowing that this was going to hurt like a bitch, the phoenix would take a second and spark up his blue flames, coating himself in it to try to suppress the heat he was able to endure. With a breath, Auden would boldly wrap his arms around The Inferno, getting much too personal with the flaming beast that he was wanting to.

He'd check the chains that Kyōshū placed around him, tightening them however he could manage. As Miroru came down and hit The Inferno over and over again, Auden would sink to the ground and pin the foe's legs with his arms, refusing to let go so that his allies' hits were clean and precise. Even if she'd said to let him come after her, there was no way Auden was going to let Miroru fight him alone until he was sure that he was weak enough. Auden only hoped that others followed through.

TLDR; Auden uses his blue healing flames to try to counteract the Inferno's flames, before grabbing him and keeping him in place for Miroru and others to attack.

The fire guy suddenly started screaming out of nowhere. Proof that he was terrified of her and definitely about to surrender any second now! She was smiling, confident that with a stab to his face she could end the fight now, that it was just a matter of seconds. Then he suddenly jumped, shaking her off his back. Rui didn't even see the kick that broke her neck before everything went dark.

Motionless, Rui sailed through the air before colliding with a wall and hitting the ground unceremoniously. Her quirk had been overloaded from taking too much damage, which meant her body had shut off completely. She was no different from a lifeless mannequin, with no senses to go of, no conscious thoughts. All that remained was Rui's lifeless body as she laid there among the rubble and fire. Whether she was actually dead or part of her was still alive in there somewhere, Rui was down and out for the count.

TL;DR: Rui took too much damage and her quirk drawbacks kicked in. She is out for this round.

"Kicking is touching, buttsnack!" Yagyo objected - not at Rui being kicked, but at yelling 'Dont touch me!' while doing the kicking. That was like chasing someone while yelling 'Get away from me!' or something! Maybe if Yagyo had realized Rui's neck had broken it would have changed their tune, and certainly shake up Kanna underneath it all, but it just seemed like a big kick that knocked their fellow gremlin in crime out for a minute to them. Besides, Yagyo only got one taker - the one Rui knew from a hospital or something - on the monsterification offer and that meant more forces were needed!

After giving Miroru a tap to temporarily transform her, Yagyo scurried right along with stubby legs working as fast as they could to Rui - doing their best to avoid any attacks that might come near them intentionally or by coincidence. Hopping up where Rui landed, Yagyo's costumed face was hunched over her - comically bent over at a near right angle at the waist while stubby hands patted at Rui's cheeks in a left-right-left-right flurry of light taps. "Yagyo to Mummy, come in Mummy!"

Rui was practically immortal, so it was just a matter of waiting for her to wake up so she could monsterify her too! But if it took particularly long for Rui to wake up, the goofy confidence of the Yagyo persona couldn't keep Kanna from starting to worry.

TLDR: Yagyo too dumb to realize Rui's neck got broken, retreated over to where Rui is after monsterifying Miroru, is currently trying to wake Rui up so she can monsterify her too.

✧ THE INFERNO ✧

Perhaps it was because of the unstable nature of his transformation but The Inferno was having a much harder time with complex thought and speech "Gonna smash ya!" was about all he could get up as he snapped the chains surrounding him only to have Auden grab onto him. Not as much of a problem as he readied a punch to put him into the ground...

Until the blue flames Auden created touched his 'skin'.

He would howl in pain instinctively trying to shake him off as he screamed and thrashed around. Miroru encircled him and lit him up with hit-and-run tactics. They were enough to push him to be further unstable as the cracks on his body began to split and opened revealing something even worse. Magma.

The heat would intensify enough that even with Miroru mitigating as much as she could it was radiating outwards and strong enough to cause second-degree burns for anyone who got too close. If Auden held on he might be able to heal through the heat damage but he would soon feel the Inferno's arms structure starting to collapse as it released a trail of magma heading straight for him. The Inferno, with his newfound powers, cranked his neck toward the sky and bellowed sending a volley of magma into the air and in all directions as if he were a volcano.

He was desperate and losing all reasoning as he reached his third and final stage; a volcano that would wipe out the ward if not contained or destroyed before he went critical.

Everything got much worse, very... very fast.

Auden found a way to hurt the bastard, but seemed to be forced into a corner, made to rely on using his own flames to heal himself instead of maintaining an offensive. Rui, fiend that she was, had been broken almost to pieces, it seemed, and hurled away, leaving Yagyo to scamper worriedly after her. It was... almost touching. Well, no. It was touching, much as Miroru hated to find herself empathizing with killers. But that only left the skinny kid with the demon and Auden plus herself trying to bring this thing to heel.

And then, of all things... it erupted.

Growling furiously, Miroru skidded to a stop on a rooftop and refocused, trying to take a cue from Auden's clearly effective accidental attack, shifting her tactics.

As the magma clumps spat into the sky, Miroru dove into her quirk and viewed the world entirely through the sense it provided. The globs were massive beacons of heat, and she attacked them directly- in perhaps an unorthodox manner. By violently siphoning the heat out of all the air in contact with certain globs, prioritizing any moving towards those engaged in the battle, resulting in cooling the liquid stone dramatically. As it solidified, she shoved the siphoned heat into positions opposite Inferno before releasing the energy in the air on that side directly towards the stone.

The suddenly heated air EXPLODED directly towards the rocks, the tempertature differential preventing it from escaping as fast to the sides as towards the rocks, catapulting the boulders of cooling stone back towards Inferno's top half and generating a new assault with the very stone he was expelling!!

She's launching solidified stone back at Inferno by using the heat to create airbursts on the opposite sides of the cooling stones, prioritizing intercepting any coming towards the group opposing him!

Oh, were the blue flames hurting him? Auden hadn't even considered such a revelation, but at the same time he'd never used his quirk in this type of context before. The screams didn't deter him from holding on tightly though, as that only motivated him to have a stronger grip on the foe with all his might.

It seemed that Auden pinning him down actually worked, allowing Miroru to get some good hits in enough that his skin started to crack. Looking up to where the bulk of the damage had been, his eyes widened to see a thicker goo start to ooze out of The Inferno. He had time before it would reach him, but it was only when the beast howled out like a volcano that he got more worried. If the stuff oozing him their body wasn't enough, Auden knew he'd have to get away from the volcanic eruption that he was causing.

With all his might, Auden would try to pull at his legs and feet with the intent of trying to down him. If he would make the impact if the volcano more centralized, it would make it a bit easier to contain. Whether it worked or not, Auden would whimper in pain as he felt the second degree burns hit had his uncovered arms. With quick motions backwards, he would use his wings as a alight cover for any projectiles that may come his way in his retreat. As much as he didn't mind getting burned up a bit, he knew that staying around magma wasn't going to help him at all.

Looking around at his allies, he was unsure what the other three were doing. Miroru seemed to be trying to counteract the spew of magma, so what was he left do? With his healing flames still around him, he would move over to Kanna and Rui to try to provide some immediate support. Looking down to Rui, he'd do his best to try to "fix" her neck, but in all honesty he wasn't even sure if she was even alive anymore. For the time being, he wanted to see just how unstable the beast was before acting again.

TLDR; Auden stays around by The Inferno to try to trip them/make them unbalanced to try to minimize the range of the attacks. After getting burned, he steps out and goes over to Rui and Kanna to protect and heal them.

As if a switch flipped on Rui, she suddenly regained her consciousness. ''Huh?!'' She felt Yagyo's costume hands pat her cheeks and looked up at her. ''Yo Yo Yagyo!'' Her body was slowly healing thanks to Auden's flames, her neck spinning once as it snapped back into place. What had happened? There was a gap in her memory after she mounted the Inferno guy... ''He got me, didn't he?'' She frowned. ''The nerve of that fire hero, but he didn't capture us when he had the chance! What an idiot! We're totes gonna make him pay aren't we?'' She grinned menacingly. She blinked and looked over at Auden. ''Oh, hi flirty bestie!! Wanna tag along? We're gonna beat up the fire hero!''

And with the help of Yagyo's quirk she began to transform. Growing bigger, scarier, turning into a proper storybook Oni. Standing back up she roared out at the top of her lungs before laughing. It was clear as day what she had turned into, any person of culture would surely recognize what Rui was seeing.

''RHINO RUI!!!'' She cackled, even though she clearly hadn't turned into a rhino. ''Yagyo, FB, hop on!'' She looked back at them both, going down on one knee so Yagyo and Auden could climb onto her back if they wanted before she sprinted straight for the Inferno. ''RHINO RUI, RHINO RUI!!'' She had one thing, and one thing only on her mind. Beat up the Inferno real good so he's forced to retreat. ''YOU'RE NO MATCH FOR RHINO RUI, TAKE THIS YOU SHITIDIOT!!'' Charging right up to him, she would attempt to bash her head into the Inferno boss's head. Even if he avoided her attack, hopefully her allies could follow-up on her distraction?

TL;DR: Rui is brought back by Auden's healing flames and her quirk reactivating. Using Yagyo's quirk she transforms into a bigger oni and starts shouting Rhino Rui at the top of her lungs, offering for Auden and Yagyo to ride back into battle on her back. She then charges at the boss and tries to bash her head against his.

Yagyo tilted their head to the side and up just a bit to look at Auden, and underneath the suit Kanna smiled a bit at the healing fire that seemed to help wake Rui up. That didn't show at all outwardly though, the Yagyo costume as doofy looking as ever.

Then Rui was awake, neck spinning around and Yagyo hopped back with arms up above their head and rambling rapidly. "You just turned your head around like 360 degrees like an owl! That was cool you just scared the shit out of me don't do that again." Despite Yagyo's protests the costumed villain didn't dwell on it for long and in short order was transforming Rui and hopping onto the back of her temporarily much larger friend. One hand pointing forward at the fire 'hero', they declared: "Go fuck that thing up, Rhino Rui!"

If 'FB' also hopped on Yagyo was going to give a costumed thumbs up. If not, that was just more focus to put on cheering Rhino Rui on as she charged in!

TLDR; Yagyo is grateful and briefly spooked by Rui's healing from Auden, monsterfies Rui, and and cheers Rhino Rui. Also gives Auden a thumbs up if Auden also hops on.

✧ THE INFERNO ✧

The extra damage he'd received from Auden's unintentional assault further eroded his consciousness, resulting in him feeling much more sluggish and his words being slurred as he flailed wildly until the kid let go. As he began to go critical, his form swelled again by another few meters, cracking the pavement with the added weight. The speed of the group was definitely starting to overwhelm him as he tried to keep up with everyone hoping that the indiscriminate magma shower would be enough to give him some breathing room.

Boy was he wrong.

The assault from Miroru flipping the rocks back at him caused him to stagger backward, cracking the shell surrounding him further to the point where it was falling off of him in chunks. With a heavy grunt he would expel the rocks out and throw them to the side, stamping his feet furiously just in time to catch Rui and co heading towards him he was trying to move out of the way but ultimately would fail as his new body wasn't accustomed to the added bulk and weight. The impact crushed the last of his protective shell, crumbling away to expose his core.

This core came with a blast of extreme heat as his body went full blast, roasting and melting anything that came too close indiscriminately. What was formerly his legs had melted into the pavement and created a pool of magma around him as the now exposed core began to glow brighter and brighter, recalling the heat wave from before as it condensed in that area. The pool would continue to expand as he was forced to shift into a volcano slowly. If not intervened, they could all say goodbye to Shibuya.

A little dazed from her own headbutt, she stood in place after the impact and looked around as she slowly put together what was happening. The inferno hero wasn't doing so good, on account of what was leaking out of him.

''Holy shit besties!'' She pointed at the ground. ''He's turning into soup! If only Umeko was here to see this!!'' Maybe she could have defeated this guy in record time by slurping up all the soup. Rui took the brunt of the force that came from the core being exposed, and to make matters worse she now stood in the magma too. ''It's hot. IT BURNS!!'' She tried to stumble away, but before she could fall Yagyo's transformation on her was undone, causing a much smaller Rui to roll back away from the Inferno. Anyone who had been riding on Rui's back would immediately lose their footing. Unable to stand on her feet as they were still healing, Rui stood on her knees and started collecting small rocks and pebbles, which she tossed at the core, missing spectacularly. ''It's that thing! We have to destroy that thing! If one of you besties do it I'll heal you after, you'll be fine!'' She tried to reassure the others, all the while her feet had melted down to the bones.

Was anyone going to do it? If no one wanted to put away this boss for good, Rui would have to grab Yagyo and run as far away as they could before he blew this whole district to kingdom come.
