The change in posture didn't go unnoticed by Mark, but as offended as she might be it was something that needed to be said. "I'm glad it's setting in. Maybe you can give another one of my students pointers on how to listen." He shook his head, thinking about his first interaction with Dante. The poor, misguided child. "Third thing you need to keep in mind: never keep your finger on the trigger." He hefted the gun once again in his hand, turning to show a side view while also keeping the muzzle angled down at the ground and towards a desk, away from the two of them. "That might sound counter intuitive, especially since most guns come with a safety, but that's a whole can of worms for another day. It's much easier to keep your finger pressed against the side like this over keeping it in the trigger guard. Most triggers have a pull weight of about seven pounds, but this can be modified to be less or more. You don't want too much weight on your triggers else it might affect your accuracy, but too little and you'll have something called a hair trigger. The tiniest of taps will fire the gun, and you never want to be in a situation where you have an accidental discharge because you kept your booger picker on the trigger." He moved to holster the gun, looking at her. "All three of these rules are incredibly important, but that last one in particular, at least to me, is the most vital. You can have a gun loaded and pointed at me all day long, and while I may sweat I won't be worried until I see that finger on the trigger. You never want to keep anything on it unless you're ready to fire." Marlene Lovechild

The way this girl acted, Mark could have sworn she was the quiet shy type. Was that a blush? Looked like a blush. Strange as she was, she was definitely cute. But was this a good idea to be flirting with her and getting her all hot and bothered? Probably not. Wouldn't be the first time he's made a bad decision like this, though. The desire to have a few tips had him nod his head, tapping the counter a few times before nodding. "I'll be sure to swing by in a few days then to offer up what I know. Couldn't help to be overprepared." Truth of it was, not many people in Japan knew about firearms, and as much as he stressed gun safety making ammunition was just as dangerous. There were a few times in his childhood where him and his brother hand singed their eyebrows doing stupid stuff with black powder and other explosive materials, so passing that information on would be a godsend for her. At least when it came to loading up the cartridge. Everything else was going to be on her to figure out. Tabitha Yamamura

The more shell shocked of the two just shook his head, letting out a breath. "We're dead. It's just a matter of when-" "Shove it," the other says, shaking his head before looking over at Farrin. "The crazy bastard changes the final traps every time he runs this exercise. I have no idea what he used overseas, but it's like he wrote the manual on all things explosive." He points to something, almost invisible to the naked eye, but after a moment Farrin would recognize it as a tripwire. "I'm trying to figure out if it's a herring or if it's-" "Can we get going already?!" The more volatile of the pair would step back, holding his hand out as the air would seemingly begin to freeze around him, ice beginning to form along the wire in order to make it visible. "There, we can see it, let's go already!" Before either could stop him, he'd step over the wire...only for the frame to blow up and send him back out into the street. The other student just looked at his now-dazed counterpart, sighing. "You look new. The short of it is, this building is the final gauntlet. Unfortunately, no one ever really knows what's inside. Pretty sure that was a motion tracker that set that off...what can you do? At the very least, we can maybe get to his floor."Farrin

Lone Wolf, appearances aside, was perceptive enough to know Jason was that much more susceptible to heat compared to most other students. He didn't quite understand the how or why, but he made it a habit in his career to not question why the brown cow that ate green grass produced the white milk that turned into yellow butter. There were principles in this world, and so long as he knew what those principles were followed there was a way to predict how things would turn out. Hence a large reason why he was forcing Jason into this mess in the first place. Mark knew that situations like this might end up happening, which could lead to bad things happening. While many might call this situation uncontrolled, it was leagues more controlled than out on the streets every day. Thankfully, the concoction that Mark had used was made up of predominantly gasoline, so there was less of a chance of those inside having shrapnel or concussive injuries was low. That said, anything that could catch fire was on fire, and that would definitely be the case in the small office on the second floor. Clearly this was where the manager did the work keeping the books, and a dummy would be sitting in a chair with the desk and papers all around it all on fire, flames threatening to lick away at the "civilian's" clothing. He shrugged again, reaching over to take the vital monitor off of his arm. "Whatever you say, Miss Pavlina," he says, setting it to the side as she promptly left. He wasn't too worried about the HR complaint, though he'd have to make a note to keep any comments like that to a minimum in the future. Despite that, the encounter leaned more on a win. This meant that any future inquires into his quirk might lead with hesitation considering the nature of it. Though in a manner he might have burned a bridge...Iphi was smart, and Sean was still out there. His thoughts drifted to her case briefly and the list of suspects she had for...whatever it was she was working on. Didn't matter, as most work he had done in the past didn't have a definite start. As he laid the headband down and he got up from his seat, he'd place his hand on where she had interacted again, the sudden whiplash disorienting him as he settled on that list again. Names, locations, potential hangouts, points of interest...he didn't have to memorize everything, just a few key points before pulling his hand back, letting out a breath as he picked up the apple. "I'm sure we'll be in touch."Iphigenia Pavlina

Mark couldn't help but roll his eyes, a slight smirk on his face as he shifted his hand to a new spot. "Guess that's what I get for making a joke," he says, shutting himself off to her memories. The monitors would go back to normal activity, though has his fingers ran over another person there would be a spike in the perception portion of his brain. "You know, you probably don't have a good case. You asked me to use my quirk, and I used my quirk. I've done less training with it compared to other, more practical skills, but I can tell you have some level of interest in it. You might be missing an opportunity to ask whatever you want about it, because we both know I'm not exactly peppy when it comes to talking about quirks." The spike would fade once he reached for the apple, taking a bite out of it as he crossed on leg over the other. "Maybe you can help me figure out if there's more to it." Despite being hesitant, he seemed ready to continue. Assuming she didn't yeet him out first. Iphigenia Pavlina

He'd glance over at the window, raising an eyebrow. "Well, you're no fun," he sighs, letting out a breath as he leaned back in his chair and hand brushing over that same spot on the table. "Don't say I didn't warn you, though." And like that the memory portion of his brain lit up as he looked into Iphi's past, circa yesterday. "Alarm, five AM. One of those fancy see through clocks, tasteful jazz. Thought you'd have one of those super old ones that blared at you. A pause. He didn't need to know everything about her morning routine, and there were other ways to mess with her that didn't involve being a super creep. This wasn't one of those situations where he had to comb every last second. "You took the train yesterday. Red line, the one that gets you closest to the campus. You didn't go into the agency you're waiting on...something." He'd go quiet for almost thirty seconds as he was curious, and decided to flip back to the previous two days, at least what he could. If the sensor watching that part of his brain was a thermal, it'd show white hot. "Something ongoing. Something important was stolen, you're trying to figure out where it went. You have suspects, but you're keeping track of them. I can't figure out more than that, it's old data and not in the forefront. Boring."He'd shrug a little, wiping some of the sweat off his forehead. Sifting through three day's worth of information was hard enough, isolating something he was looking for took a lot more effort. He didn't have to pull at all the specifics, just enough to showcase. "Where was I...right, you took the train, substituted for The Lichen as his wife is having a baby...lot of boring and nonimportant subject matter. Stayed on campus until 11pm...you did more than school work, you put out a few new feelers for the case. Took the train back home, didn't get there until midnight." Another pause, both eyebrows going up. "Not sure how I feel about that color on you. Not the sweatpants, what's underneath. Though I kinda figured that was your style. You should really spice things up a little, I mean after what you did in the shower-"Iphigenia Pavlina

He nodded, though he wasn't expecting such a straightforward answer. Then again, his brand of humor was something that not many people could latch onto, and was normally taken at face value. That was fine, he could work with that. He couldn't help but look over to see what exactly she was scribbling down, only to find she was trying to get his questions verbatim. The last one got a grin out of him. "So what you're telling me is you hang out at the beaches and piers often?" Unprofessional? Absolutely. But he was committed to the gear switch now, he just had to find the right tempo to not make things weird. "You do have my number now, unless you're the type to not mix business with pleasure."After a moment he would direct a thumb at the door, figuring that if he stayed any longer he might end up breaking something. "Though if you want I can go ahead and leave, come back in, what, a week? Two? Check in on progress and all that? Maybe two, since there might be a few tools you gotta put on order." A pause as he thought for a moment or two. "Unless you want a few tips how to clean and prep casings. Stuff like that was more lax at home than here, and I know the basics at least." And now he was straddling the line. Tabitha Yamamura

Premise
Lone Wolf teaches a handful of things. Situational awareness, urban survival, and tracking a target to name a small handful. Unfortunately for himself and everyone else involved, he also has a penchant for laziness and flying by the seat of his pants. After a particularly taxing test season, something he also didn't prepare for, he had a specific exercise prepared for his classes. Unfortunately the live subject he needed for it went missing, and instead of going through the hassle of tracking him down Lone Wolf has decided to just have a good old rousing round of Dodgeball!
OOC
Hello, and welcome to the Dodgeball signups! This is purely a UAU event for students to participate in, and maybe something for the teacher body to take bets on (with 10% going to the Feed a Kid fund). In character, the rules are simple:
1. Players are split into teams of three and occupy different sides of a basketball court.
2. Neither team is permitted past the line of demarcation; anyone that crosses it and scores a hit renders that hit null and void
3. Three balls will be set upon the line, and at the start of the game the players are to make a sprint to acquire them. There is a five second grace window before they are considered 'live'.

Mark wouldn't bother interrupting the rest of the song, and the bartender would also spend little to no time on him after the reassurance. At least a small one. The crowd wasn't as rowdy as he was anticipating, which was good. Mark had been in his fair share of bar brawls, and each time he always came out bruised and bloody as much as the other guys. It was why it paid to have leverage. Once the song wrapped up and people started to move around he picked up his half-finished beer and made his way over to the gaggle as Dante was swarmed by bikers, not in an aggressive way but wanting him to play at their usual hangout. "'Scuse me, gentlemen," he says, intending to put a hand on Dante's shoulder. "This right here is a top-notch musician that unfortunately none of you boys can afford. Pianoman, think you can spare at least five minutes? Gotta talk with you real quick. I'll even buy you a beer." Mark was 100% playing with fire, but fire was something he was used to when it came to Dante. As much as he hated sounding like a broken record, there was just a few things he needed to emphasis to him. Dante

She seemed to be hellbent to get as much work out of him as possible. He couldn't exactly blame her, she didn't seem to be swimming in work. Then again, he was being a little too judgmental. Besides, she seemed pretty eager to get started. Mark only knew the basics when it came to making ammunition, but there were people smarter than him that could make things like this. Besides, as a stranger in a strange land he didn't want to overstep his bounds. He stretched the rules enough as is. Her final question did get him thinking. They were moving out of the professional sphere, and she did try to make some level of small talk. It couldn't hurt to drop the persona that didn't fit him well in the first place. <"Know anyplace for a guy like me to find a hot date?"> He was joking, but it'd be worth the reaction. At least, so he thought. Tabitha Yamamura

He raised an eyebrow, not entirely sure if that was foreboding or what. Most of the faculty to Mark was strange, and clearly his ideas and experiences were vastly different than everyone else's. The closest person to him was probably Dauntless, and that was because of the shared language between them. He wasn't sure how this stuff worked, but he didn't exactly want to take Iphi at face value. "As you wish," he says, setting the apple down before taking a seat, fingertips raking across the surface of the table in a casual manner. It looked natural, but he was establishing that she had interacted with the table beforehand. Sure enough, her face was there alone with a few others, assistants to ensure that everything was set up prior to his arrival. He'd shut the link down as he reached for the headband, strapping it on before reaching for the armband. "Fair warning, I don't have precise control over this, so there might be some things I say that might be weird to you. You like weird, right?" This was a lie, but she didn't need to know that, right? He couldn't start out with the quirk, no, he had to show that he was capable without it. "Alright, let's see...I know you're a workaholic." He reaches up, pressing two fingers against his head. There would be no abnormal spikes in brain activity, and no other evidence to show he was engaging his quirk. "I see you clacking away at your desk well before I get in...and that's not counting the work you've done at your agency first. You're in well after I get done, like super late. Burning the candle at both ends is a little unhealthy." A pause, his brow furrowing. "You were doing some number crunching yesterday. You got your hands on a dataset and discussing standard deviations yesterday." He was walking a fine line, and he knew it. If she called him out on it there was always his ace in the hole. Mark would immediately, once the information was sent to his phone, pull it out and begin to skim over the information. As much as he hated them, kidnapping cases were his specialty, but this was on a level he couldn't properly fathom. Not because his mind couldn't go there, but because the worst thing he had encountered was a cult that was attempting to forcibly indoctrinate people into it. <"Guess it'll depend on what I find then,"> He says, frowning as he skimmed harder. <"A lot that I've dealt with in my time as a hero have been stalkers, creeps, and a few other things I'd rather not get into. Take me to the kid, the faster I start sifting through his head the better."> He'd pull the duffle he had around him to his side, beginning to pull out a camera then deciding against it, going for an audio recorder instead. <"Think the cops or the parents will allow a taped interview? It's possible the kid's just traumatized, but if there's blockers like you say there is then having some kind of visual to help me focus my notes later will be useful.">Demura Kano

He paused a little. This was becoming less of a professional conversation, and more of a casual one. At least, it was starting to take that turn. He wasn't sure how to take that, but time would tell. "<He's younger,>" he says, taking on a more somber tone. "<If it's alright with you, I don't want to discuss him too much. Unless you've heard anything about his whereabouts, in which case I'm all ears.>" And maybe that would be all that. He hoped. As the world went more to normal Mark would begin to reach for the Carry, glancing up and around for the spirits. They were lacking from his vision, but that didn't mean that they weren't there anymore. Creepy. "<Thanks,>" he says, returning it to it's holster. <"The rifle itself is maybe...fifty years old? It's a replica of an old world war design, something the Marines used during their campaign across the Pacific. Not as sexy as some other designs, but I've been shooting it for years. Don't get to use it outside of classes these days, but at the same time it's also hard to work around Japanese laws regarding guns.>"Tabitha Yamamura

Mark couldn't help but stare back. Marlene was weird. Super weird. But that was pretty much par for the course at this point. "It's fine. I'm just not used to Terminators and the wall I gotta get through to get a point across." Was that a little much? That seemed a little much. She seemed to have some level of emotion, even if it was minute, and that was a little harsh. "No offense."That didn't excuse him, but at the very least he could try not to be a dick. "That's one of the bigger rules, but one even before that is you never, ever point a gun at someone or something that you don't intend to destroy. Contrary to popular belief, guns don't have a soul and they don't kill people. While a gun might have more in common with a sword or a bow, they are at the end of the day a tool. I know there are some people that say any tool can be considered a weapon, but not all weapons can be considered tools, but anyone that says that is talking out their ass. Weapons are tools, too. An axe can be used to cut down a tree or hack someone's arm off. Guns are no different, though their purpose is more destructive..." He reaches over to pat the Carry. "This particular gun has been modified to fire special rounds for nonlethal means, but that doesn't mean they can't cause serious harm. If you can control where it's pointed, then you can control whether this tool can be used to harm the innocent or to protect them." Marlene Lovechild
