Mark took another bite of his apple, mulling this question over. He could lie, but that would more than likely screw with the results of the test. He could also refuse to answer, which would defeat the purpose. For most of the time he was, for all intents and purposes, quirkless. There wasn't much he could use his quirk for outside of establishing anything that happened prior up to three days into the past, and even then if he wanted details he would have to sit and sift through all that information. It took a lot out of him, if he was being honest. He'd follow her into the room, munching away as he considered what he wanted to say. "I'm like a really shitty oracle, but instead of the gift of foresight I got the gift of hindsight," he says, shrugging his shoulders. "I guess that's what happens when your daddy's a Nobody." Mark let out a noise as the scene played out, removing the last casing from his rifle and moving to reload. "Two outta three ain't bad," he mutters, though he was clearly disappointed. He only managed to knock out one student, though it was possible that the one that remained was likely to get himself "killed". Although...Farrin hadn't gotten to where he's at just based on his luck. He had a level of skill that was above most other first years, and that was saying something. Maybe, in the future, it would be better to test some other things with the student. Either way, that was down the line. Better to figure out a way to get him knocked out now than later. The explosions the mines caused weren't confined to just Farrin. Some of the other upperclassmen had also managed to penetrate deep into the territory as well, and once he laid eyes on the building in question Farrin would see two other students standing huddled on either side to the entrance. One looked fairly shell-shocked, and the other had a look of consternation upon his face, almost like he was mentally preparing himself. Farrin

Ah yes. This was absolutely completely stupid. But damn, was this going to be a lot of fun. The inner kid within Mark loved a bunch of really stupid things. Illegal Mexican fireworks, throwing firecrackers into water bottles, and creating impromptu flamethrowers with aerosol sprays and lighters were some of the things he got into during his childhood with his younger brother. Now that he was an adult he had access to much, much bigger things. This building in front of him? This was going to be his masterpiece. Sometimes it really paid to be a teacher. Today he was going to be testing this Jason kid, which was going to be interesting. He barely came up to Mark's waist and could easily be mistaken for a child. He had to double and triple check that this kid was even on a college level. But either way, he was one of those kids that need just a little bit extra remediation. So he had called the kid out to Ground Beta for a special training session. Once he arrive Mark would look over at him, smirking. "Hey, kiddo! Got a special challenge for you today! See that building over there? You need to pull all five civilians out as quick as you can!" He'd indicate a small two-story coffee shop a little ways away. There was something more to this, though. It couldn't be that simple, right? "Right, and just for you I have a special challenge." He'd depress the button on a detonator he had in his hand. Almost a second a later the shop would burst into flames, sending glass shards out into the street. Kupo

As Demura began to brief him he'd let himself get into the work mindset. Or at least as close as possible; he'd find it hard not being able to not let his sarcasm or other witty remarks stay bottled up during this particular case. <"Well, if it's a mind altering quirk then this might be harder than you think,"> he says, walking along and glancing around the hallways as they moved towards the holding room. <"If he's been locked up in someone's basement for more than a week then determining how they're kidnapping kids will be hard. Full disclosure, I can only see somewhere in the ballpark of the last three days."> He'd look over at his associate, raising an eyebrow. <"How long ago was he brought in? And how many kidnappers did you run into?"> A pause, before tacking on: <"Right, and mind if I get a copy of the report? Something I can skim over? Depending on what I can get or not, might have to resort to conventional means. If there's some kind of blocker in place details might be few and far between."> Demura Kano

He'd nod, glancing at her and taking note that she was more than capable of keeping up with him in the conversation despite pulling a fast one on her. What's more she could even communicate back, with a cute little accent no less! She was strange, but he had to admit that she was interesting, too. As she finished taking down his information and made mention of Kansas he realized that he might get caught in a lie. Granted, the lie wasn't that bad; he was from Oklahoma, but the fact that his joke went over her was amusing. Either way, he shrugged. "<I wouldn't know. I moved around a lot. Dad was Nobody, and was just me and my brother fending for ourselves.>" He'd point at the gun, raising an eyebrow. <"I can take this with me again, right? I don't mind leaving the ratshot behind as like a guide or something. But uh, this is one of only two pieces I have that can fire nonlethal, and the other one I'm forced to keep on the campus at all times. People might get unsettled if they see the old arm of the Marine Corps out in public...not that anyone around might know what that looks like.>" Tabitha Yamamura

Mark just stared. He stared for a long time. The nonchalance that Marlene exhibited with a loaded gun pointed at her, not to mention staring down the barrel, just emphasized how much of a problem it would be to teach her how to use a gun. Immediately removing his finger from the trigger guard he turned to set the gun down on the table, taking a deep breath. "Okay, Marlene, I don't know if this is because no one ever taught you this sort of thing or...I don't know, programmed? Before I can teach you anything about guns, I have to first teach you about gun safety. There is no gun knowledge without knowledge of operating a gun safely. And I am going to assume you're immune to three-eighty, which is why you didn't flinch at all with a loaded gun pointed at you." He took a deep breath, centering himself. Okay, calm down, Mark. This will be okay. One step at a time. "First of all, every gun is loaded. And I mean every gun. You see a bunch of guns hanging up in a storefront, they're loaded. The revolver sitting in your mom's nightstand? Loaded. The hunting rifle sitting in your uncle's gun case? Loaded. Some wackjob from America pulls one on you in the middle of a classroom at school? You bet your ass that it's loaded." He points at the handgun sitting on the desk. "Until you pull back the slide or open the bolt of any firearm, and you check the breech yourself to make sure there is no cartridge sitting there, every gun is loaded. Capice?Marlene Lovechild

Mark just stared at her. The joke was definitely disturbing, and it made him wonder if comedy was something that was programmed into her or a learned trait. Either way, he was skeptical. Really skeptical. He had to give her points for efficiency, though; she was right in the fact that the average thug couldn't outrun a bullet, let along dodge out of the way of one. Many students were refining themselves to deal with a threat such as that, which was a good thing, but there were also not many that went out of their way to learn about them. Which was a crying shame as knowledge about guns was just as important as knowing how they operate. That said, as ecstatic as Lone Wolf was at a student willing to learn, he wished it could have been anyone else. He'd have to approach this with some level of diplomacy, while also learning about various different laws about this whole situation. As notorious as he was for throwing students into the deep end, this was a case he would have to take baby steps. "In that case, let's start with the basics. The real simple basics. And we'll start with a demonstration." He reached into his jacket, pulling out the Carry from its holster and intentionally pointed it at her. There wasn't a round chambered in, but every instinct of his screamed at him, especially since his finger rested on the trigger. "What am I doing wrong in this situation?"Marlene Lovechild

Kidnapping cases weren't as frequent here as they were back home. Mark always wondered why that was the case. Maybe because there were taboos that the rich and powerful didn't dabble in? Or maybe home lives weren't as awful and divorce rates were not as severe, causing one parent or another not to jump ship with the kid. Or maybe there weren't as many deranged stalkers that kidnapped women. But that was all bullshit because the only different between Japan and home was the culture; human nature was still the same. Regardless, a coworker had reached out for help in regards to a case he was working on. It felt weird, having a coworker. Mark always had a liaison of sorts when working with the police or a point of contact with an actual hero agency, but a coworker? Gross. Made him feel icky...that and it threw off the Lone Wolf vibe. But a job was a job, so he showed up to the station. The hero in question, Dauntless, was someone that Mark wasn't too familiar with. There might have been a story he read about back home regarding an exploit, but he couldn't remember. It didn't matter, either, as he signed in and began to walk towards the back, finally spotting the man. <"So, should we have some chit chat before we get started, or do you wanna jump straight into it?"> Mark fired off in English first, Midwestern accent present and his hat missing with a smile on his face. His hands in his pockets to the chagrin of the officers around him. He didn't look much like a hero, looking more like he walked in from a long road trip than anything else. But he was willing to see what he could do. Demura Kano

Mark just stared at the spirit for a long while, hand resting on the other weapon before slowly coming off of it, holding up a hand to indicate that there was no danger. "Right. Sorry, just not everyday a crazy hot chick does something to me and I start seeing Casper the friendly ghost. You alright over there?" Mark didn't mean to startle her, but things happened. At the very least he didn't shoot first and ask questions later. He'd look over at her, nodding. He was about to give her all the information he needed when she paused herself, tilting his head. <"Just a guy from Smallville, Kansas. No one important,"> he says, switching from his Japanese to English. <"In the middle of an ongoing case, and it's brought me here. Figure while I try to continue that I attempt to do some actual work in the process."> He clears his throat, looking down at her ledger. <"Legal name is Mark Browning, hero name is Lone Wolf. The request gave him pause, holding the hat in both hands as he looked at her. Now, he had found that while there was a small group of Japanese people that were into anything Western and a smaller few that had taken up the shooter, such things were few and far between. Most Japanese people hadn't even seen a live firearm, let alone had an interest in owning or shooting one. Mark attributed this to the fact that she wasn't human, which made the red flag that was flying in front of his face all the more crimson. "You want to learn how to use firearms. And you're asking me." He couldn't help but feel like there was a setup. With another pause he'd start to look around the room, trying to pinpoint where exactly the hidden camera might be. "Most heroes tend to not look into training in guns, relying more on quirk and wit. And I don't mean any offense, but I don't think there are many laws on file that allow androids to carry. Before I answer any of your questions...why?"Marlene Lovechild

...Yeah. Girl is off her rocker. Mark watched as Tabi got up on the counter, clearly struggling a little as she reached for some invisible force. And unfortunately, despite his insistence for professionalism, his eyes couldn't help but wander down to her legs. Mighty fine, if he might say so himself. Though the pricing caught an eyebrow. "Hey, that's not bad for three-eighties. Paid a lot more for that back in the States. I think. Math ain't my strong suit." Which, to be fair, almost all subjects were not his strong suit. Returning his eyes to an appropriate level once she got into a sitting position, he'd watch her with muted interest before she pressed her hands against his chest. Right away the room seemed a little brighter, and...wait a minute, he couldn't hear things from the street before. Though none of this was compared to the sudden rasping and the weird purple mist that was hanging around Tabi. Taking a step back, his hand would go into his coat but pausing seeing nothing was happening. "The hell is that thing?" he finally asks, looking at her. Tabitha Yamamura

Mark turned to look at the person addressing him, memory jogging a little as he placed the face to the name. "Marlene. Hi there!" He was polite, but internally he was creeped out. Her situation was not unfamiliar to him, and while he could get used to her demeanor and the like her appearance was what disturbed him. Too much like one of those old china dolls. And he already had one experience recently that tangentially involved one of those. He'd set the eraser down once finished, moving over to the desk as he reached for his hat. "I have a busy schedule, but I think I can spare a few minutes. What questions did you have?" Him being "busy" was a little misleading, but his hope was that she'd catch on that he didn't want to stay in this conversation for long so he could get back to the important things in life. Namely the piece of apple pie he had stowed away in the lounge fridge. Marlene Lovechild

Seeing was indeed believing, and despite the inherent creepiness of the shop and her he couldn't help but be a little curious. He was not the superstitious type, and he wasn't very religious. Sure, he thought there was a God, but if there was he was content to let the rest of them do their own thing. He didn't think there was such a thing such as spirits, but he could drop the professionalism for just a moment. Offering a shrug, he'd give her a small smile before resting a hand on the counter. "Well, if you think you can bring any to this plane, sure. Do we need one of those board things or whatever? The Waluigi thing?" He didn't know quite how to say it in Japanese, but maybe she'd know. It wasn't his business to know these things. "Also, what would I owe you for the whole work thing while I'm thinking on it? Do you do it by order, by the bullet...?"Tabitha Yamamura

Today was a rarity for the day. He was late for his own lecture, but the hero known as Lone Wolf had hosted one of his infamous classes. As in, a class within a classroom. The topic: how not to be seen. This was one of those that would be better off in the field, but there was a method to the madness. One exercise detail what was expected, followed by a class on techniques and the like that the kids could utilize in the future, followed by the next three classes in the field to apply what they learned in various circumstances. A lot of this madness was because Mark himself was a high school dropout and he didn't put much stock into academia as a whole, and most of what he learned was either from his dad or from experience. It was a great way to give the kids whiplash, but seeing as other teachers also weighed heavily on field exercises he felt justified in his approach. The lecture was short, but got the point across: hang low, know line of sight and how angles work, understand how line of sight could be extended and how to utilize the environment to your advantage. It was a lot of knowledge to cram into a small period of time, but at the very least the class could take notes, research, and practice on their own time. He couldn't spoon feed them everything. And so he'd start to clean up his class space, wiping down the whiteboard as he debated how he was going to run the next class. Marlene Lovechild

He had to give her credit, at the very least she was attentive and took notes. He wished more students did that during his lectures...granted, those were few and far between, and people took them about as seriously as a Lone Wolf lecture. He couldn't blame them. He let out a small snort at the slip, though. That one was on her. Though he had to admit it was pretty adorable. The mention of spirits made him pause, looking up then left and right, scanning for anything out of the ordinary. Well, there was a lot here out of the ordinary, but for an occult shop that was pretty normal. "Spirits. Riiiight. They're not trying to persuade you to kill me or giving you the numbers to my apartment or telling you my favorite color is yellow, right?" It was a bad joke, and he didn't exactly take her seriously. Then again, he didn't take too many people who believed in the supernatural seriously. He did want to make her feel at ease, hence the humor. Tabitha Yamamura
