She nodded along hearing Miroru get more in depth with her quirk. It was nice to see that some students took the task seriously! There had always been a history of UAU students just throwing stuff at the wall when it comes to quirk usage and never looking at them from a scientific standpoint. Miroru had an excellent grasp on the potential applications of her quirk already and as a freshman too!

She couldn't help but smile as Miroru gave her an assessment. All of this was something she had already accounted for, but she felt it would also be a valuable experience for Miroru. "Correct!" she would say aloud before removing the gauntlet and holding it up some Miroru could see. " Regarding a pneumatic device, I must account for the extra energy created. To keep it low tech, I couldn't install something to convert the energy into another form, so instead, I made this out of a nitinol compound." She would pause to see if that sounded familiar to Miroru, and in case it didn't, she'd continue, "Nitinol is an alloy with a shape memory effect. It can retain its shape and is very malleable when under heated conditions" taking out a screwdriver; she would fiddle with the internals adjusting the device before putting it back on "Test 2. Let's see that i-" an alarm rang out as Iphi instinctively reached for her phone. "I'm the closest hero to respond to a break-in, so I'll need to head out" she would grab her suit jacket and threw it on, stopping for a minute to consider the implications; of her following statement "If you'd like some field experience you can come with. I'll fill out the paperwork later and take full responsibility."

From her quick scan of the vitals it was clear that the spikes were consistent with their little game of cat and mouse. Amaya was uncomfortable with the idea that her quirk didn't work on Iphi and the feeling was mutual. It was very jarring to have a specific idea that affects your entire life be challenged so abruptly. Iphi had never forgotten anything even for a moment and she was sure Amaya had the same experience with no one ever truly being able to remember her. She listened to Amaya with growing concern as her vital had stabilized but there seemed to be a build-up of adrenaline in the brain before...

Just like that Amaya cut her finger off blood spilling everywhere and Iphi shot up. She didn't even hear what Amaya had said next as she slammed a button on the console opening up communications with the support staff "I need the med team NOW." she shouted moving towards the door separating the two "What were you thinking?" she would take Amaya's hand to inspect the damage being moved out of the way shortly after for the med staff to reapply Amaya's finger. "This study is over. Once you are healed please take your leave." her golden eyes narrowed glowing more brightly than usual. There was being reckless and then there was being crazy. Amaya was the latter.

Obscured from vision slightly Iphi had an equally mischevious smile on her face. It seemed that whatever Amaya was doing was interfering with her own quirk. She had never forgotten anything in her entire life not even for a single moment. As long as she was alive she could tell the full details of any day from her own perspective, from weather to even the people she was around that day. Her eyes darted down to the display that would show Amaya's vitals and there definitely was some sort of correlation between Iphi suddenly forgetting and the woman's appearance. She cupped her chin with her hands as she watched the classic spikes of adrenaline from what she presumed was the fight-or-flight response. Curiouser and Curiouser.

Amaya's reaction to her own effect on Iphi clearly meant that they were both in completely new territory. Truly a delightful experience even if it was a little unsettling. Quirks tended to have a Rock Paper Scissors way of interacting with each other and you never knew if someone or something was your 'natural enemy'. After she had regained her composure Amaya further explained what her quirk was ultimately confirming her hypothesis from earlier. Amaya was even bold enough to challenge her on this fact, likely picking up on Iphi's confusion from earlier when she wasn't able to recall for a brief moment despite her own namesake.

Interesting.

This wasn't even for research at this point it was instead to indulge her own curiosity while simultaneously engaging Amaya in a metaphorical duel. Who had the stronger quirk? Would her infallible memory or Amaya's memory suppression come out on top? With a slight smile, Iphi spoke up "Sure. Observation, yes?" she would confirm what Amaya had said aloud before turning completely in her seat and-

Again would forget.

Her mind soon brought the backups of this information she had just learned and with a smirk that Amaya couldn't see she would speak up loud enough for her to hear her "Observation. If I lose sight of you, I'll forget I saw you. It is being recorded but I'll remember regardless" relaxing into a more neutral expression she would turn around clipboard and hand immediately looking back at Amaya's vitals to see if the same spike happened as before. "Do you have anything else accompanying this that plays into your quirk?" a very very interesting subject had landed right into her lap.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Miroru" she gave a small laugh at her addressing her as Recall-sama, very unusual with this generation to use honorifics like that. Every other first year she'd met so far had been very cavalier about naming conventions, not that it mattered to Iphi "You can just call me Iphi, whatever makes you the most comfortable." she said gesturing to the seat adjacent to hers for Miroru to sit. The boots Miroru was wearing did catch her eye assuming she had agreed to help because she had her own expertise in engineering of some kind. "Did you make those yourself?" she said pointing to her boots "I would guess...they aid in mobility? Extra space in the soles would be perfect for the addition of turbines." She could make an educated guess that based on the extra space in the heels of the boots alongside the material they were made of that there was some sort of turbine housed in them. How they operated was something she was genuinely interested in, inspiration for new gear was always helpful in her book.

After however Miroru would choose to address her question she would lift up a small briefcase that contained her equipment. The briefcase would have #39 on the front in large red letters "So! I'm here to do the finishing touches on my newest creation." she would open the briefcase to show Miroru the bangle in the middle of it "Pneumatic Cannon" it looked pretty unimpressive at first glance and Iphi was aware of this so she would put it on her right wrist "When I flex my abductor and flexor muscles back to back..." she would do so as the bangle would transform into a gauntlet with two intake valves and 4 exit valves that are frontward facing "It turns into a gauntlet that can condense air pressure and shoot it out like bullets." she didn't demonstrate this aspect of it given that they were in the support rooms. "The live fire test and further troubleshooting after a diagnosis is the final step. So I was hoping you could help by being a moving target, don't worry I'll scale back the impact so it's nothing more than a pinch!" she didn't want to scare Miroru before they could get started "If you're prepared we can head over to Ground Beta?"

Leveraging as many connections as she could, Iphi was set up in a remote facility with some of the most advanced equipment. She was there because she wanted to conduct some live research on recreating the methods in which quirks operated and making support equipment for those like herself with less of a ‘traditional’ quirk. Sure, there had been plenty of research into the application of equipment to facilitate quirk usage with heroes and villains popping up over the last few decades with a wide variety of quirks, some similar to what one would expect from a comic book superhero and others swung wildly in either direction from being very mundane to completely uncontrollable. She even knew some people personally who were actively researching the potential to extract the quirk factor to see if it could be applied to other people or even inanimate things! Truly fascinating stuff.

The idea to conduct this study in this originated from a question posed by a student in a class she was subbing. ‘Why can’t we make gear that could work like our quirks?” It was truly one of the few times in recent years she was completely caught off guard, having spent a long time sorting through the well of a brain she had for either an example or any studies actively being conducted before ultimately coming up with nothing. Even though she likely hadn’t been the only person to ever think of this she did have the means to put it into practice. So through a combination of the school's network and navigating the hero network she put a word out

Looking for willing test subjects to demonstrate and explain the functions of their quirk in a controlled environment.

At the predetermined place deep in the heart of Tokyo, she waited in the control room for anyone who chose to accept this offer, sitting at a console in front of a glass window where the person, once they entered the room and greeted her, would end up to conduct the tests.

Another familiar face! While they hadn't worked closely over the years Iphi was very familiar with who 'Lone Wolf' was. They had coincidentally both started at UAU as teachers but what was even more unusual was that he was a very secretive person. She'd known him for 2 years at this point and still wasn't entirely sure if he even had a quirk or not. Clearly, his interest in this study just confirmed that he did and this in turn piqued her interest more than she had originally anticipated. Even if she wasn't able to get any valuable data she at least would get to know him more on a personal level, a net gain if you asked her.
