Iphi didn't have as much of an extreme condition as Hebiru did, which from Hebiru's own admission, didn't provide her with anything in that regard. It would have been something she'd want to study if it wasn't so sad...ugh. Lack of emotional regulation felt almost as bad, it was impacting Iphi's ability to function. [break][break] Still, she didn't have much time to think, and honestly, she couldn't; it was like constant brain fog. She was still able to muster up some advice from the vestiges of her old quirk she was handicapped, not neutered. "Try to breathe in tandem with you closing and opening your fist, it might help. [break][break] She waited for Hebiru to go first, nervous that the strike might take her out and without quirk any damage might be fatal. The strikes were blocked and Iphi jumped (literally) into action swinging over the top of the sending out her whips from above. When the swordsman recoiled on the second strike she would turn her left hand into a whip net to grab the katana and would use the opposite hand to attach to a nearby building. She doubted she would win in a battle of raw strength, but this would force the swordsman into either going after her or slow down his strikes on Hebiru. When she was thankfully okay, Iphi sighed a breath of relief. She wasn't exactly worried for her calculations given the mass of the creature and watching its movements as it fought Mai it truly was a fish in origin and not a mammal despite being a "Sea Bear". If it had been an actual mammal, the Pneumatic Cannon would have just punched a hole in it, not caused an explosion. [break][break] Iphi held her weapon between her fingers and quickly inspected the damage, noting that it would take about seven hours to fix it. "Yes, unfortunately, not something I can replicate." She pointed to the broken piece of equipment. "I apologize for getting your outfit dirty. I thought of about 50 potential responses to that creature, and this was the one that would result in the least harm to either of us." She would place the speaker down in the sand as she worked to wrap up her gear and put it away "The most concerning part of this has to be the way these creatures came about. Japan is surrounded by water on all sides, so for this attack to originate in one spot, it means that deploying these creatures is easier at THIS specific point." Her eyes would flit toward the horizon "We can secure the coast for sure, but we might need to take the fight out there. There are islands out there and I'll relay this information to the hero network. Any transfer, new student, or even any old records she could get her hands on and the students participating in this exercise were no different. Organic Carbon transmuted into rabbits was definitely one of the most interesting quirks she'd seen so she was eager, from a scientific perspective, to see how they worked in action. The vantage point over the battlefield wasn't just for strategic purposes, it also gave her a chance to take in as much information on how the students would fight using their quirks. As a very very old scientist once said "Information is not knowledge. The only source of knowledge is experience. You need experience to gain wisdom." [break][break] The appearance of Stronghold was nearly right on time, clearly she had taken care of her area rather quickly. Supernova was moving towards their area quite quickly as well. "Looks like we're just buying time until the heavy hitters can converge." Her eyes would shift briefly to Jun's approach before turning back to Playboy's next move. "I agree. I'm going to take a step back here." She could guess what was coming next, having watched enough live exercises of Jun to put things together rather quickly. Iphi would backpedal towards the edge of the building and hit her comms "Supernova. Looks like we need the villain mastermind to make a 'early appearance'" Taking a final step back she leapt as high as she could into the air, but before she would fall as quick activation and a rotation of her hand to use her 'Inverse Curtain' to make a mid-air foothold. Turning in her dinosaur onesie she would face the battlefield, seeing Sadako go down she would briefly hit her comms "Yuki Onna, giving a long range assist. Keep on him." she would then aim her other gauntlet at Farrin and take a few shots. Getting too close was a bad idea on her part, and as long as they couldn't get too close, then she could buy all the time she needed for Supernova. "Apparel keep an eye on him. If he tries to bridge the gap, send him down." Playing a villain wasn't as hard as she initially expected. There was over 5 dozen responses she could think of in that short time. Having Mai around and firmly believing in her capabilities opened up even more potential responses. Iphi's immediate instinct was to disable to creature and restrain it for study, but just like her thoughts about the smaller creatures earlier the danger of the creature made its elimination a priority. There was a single course of action that was best: overcharge a shot to take advantage of Mai's own quirk. [break][break] "Need to recalibrate, do your best to hold your own but prioritize your safety." She bent down and removed her support gear. "Nothing is gained if either of us is taken out of commission, but if you can buy me 28 seconds, I'll take care of the threat." Removing the safety pin and then bending the supports prevented the chamber from overfilling with pressurized air. In this special exception, with a safe zone already being prepped and multiple heroes en route, she could afford to break it even if it would be repaired later. Holding the gauntlet with both hands, she would inflate the chamber as she aimed at the creature pushing it past the limits, the surface cracking as she planted her feet and fired. "Firing! Duck!"[break][break] With a concussive bang the projectile travelled through the air and found its mark detonating on impact and turning the sea bear into 'sea paste'. The Pneumatic Cannon Iphi was so proud of was entirely out of commission, the chamber having been cracked and no longer able to retain any air. Aside from Aella, there wasn't any way someone would be able to track down her family all the way in Greece, especially not without her finding out their intentions first. Besides someone like Bakiri Retsu wasn't the type to put too much thought into what she was going to do or say...that was made very clear in their brief interaction. She would step out of her seat and let Retsu go first down the ramp back to the ground level. [break][break] Listening to her give a speech in return she would stare, blankly at first and then slowly her expression would soften. Empathy was something she was still working on and in her heart she wished she could feel her emotions first rather than having the process them first. If anyone there was a way to turn off High Spec even if it was for one day...-which was probably something she'd express with Sadako later assuming she was still covering for her. "If only that were true." she would give Retsu a small wave and head back to her post. Looks like even a broken clock could be right twice a day. If they could draw the creatures to them and thin their numbers it meant potentially dozens of lives saved. With the safehouse being set up and secured by Kazashi, who was arguably one of the stronger Pro Heroes even including herself and Mai, she could focus on the task at hand. Firing off a few blast from her gauntlet she took care of one creature, recalibrated and fired at the larger one which took a few shots to put down. [break][break] "Yuki Onna. She would fiddle with the transponder and increase the volume which caused a much more rapid amount of bubbles to come up to the surface revealing 12 more small shrimp like creatures that charged at her. Unbeknowest to both of them there was a much MUCH worse creature bubbling beneath the surface, growing more and more irritated as the minutes passed. Since escaping that Dream were she had her breakdown she felt more and more guilty that she almost got the others killed in the process. There was too much chaos in Tokyo to hunt down Lonewolf and Kei to make sure they were okay and yet she had taken the time to search for the two most important people in her life already: Sadako and Aella. Through what was left of the system she was able to determine and speak with Sadako who was off doing what she could to help, nothing she couldn't handle, she was just relieved she was ultimately okay. Aella was on campus which had been locked down so at least she wouldn't have to witness all of this madness. [break][break] When she exited the dream, Iphi had ended up in the exact spot she last remembered before falling asleep. Except now the lights were out and she could hear sirens and general chaos. The smell of burning buildings and gunshots firing in the distance made her realize that there were likely hundreds if not thousands that were choosing to take advantage of the situation, and with people like her being one of the handful that could bring order to this chaotic situation she was about to work A LOT of overtime. [break][break] She would flex her hands just to come to the realization that Black Whip was still hers for the time being. Whether she was more concerned that it was still with her or not had yet to be seen. It was then she received a proximity alert from another hero...The Gorgon? She usually wasn't the type to ask for help. [break][break] Hours Later[break][break] "On it. In this situation, you'd think they'd act with a little more self-preservation in mind." Her Black Whip would extend grabbing another handful of people before they crossed the line as she swung back towards the makeshift triage area. She would gesture towards the opposite direction to send those on their way "I know you're dealing with a lot right now trust me," she would have the energy snap back towards her hand "But we'll eventually need to get in there ourselves and deal with this. I have no idea who or what currently has our quirks, but it wouldn't be too crazy to think that if the person who has it dies, then we're stuck like this." She would stare off into space for a moment, wondering if she even truly thought that was a bad thing before she would shake herself out of the stupor and focus on the task at hand. Sure, she was good at teaching because she could memorize anything, but what worked out even better (for her) was applying this to hero work. In particular, counting bullets. She couldn't say she had as much experience with firearms as Lone Wolf or his "old buddy" but she knew enough to get within 10% of the total capacity. Well, not that it mattered much since none of the bullets would reach her, instead hitting the shield which had some give thanks to elasticity which meant the bullets piled up in front of her. [break][break] "10, 9, 8..." Iphi would count out loud, readying her gauntlet for the inevitable last bullet before she poked her arm out of cover. Scanning her surroundings and quickly calculating, she'd fire off three shots. The first hit its target dead on with the second ricocheting off of a nearby metal trashcan can, the sound scaring the man out of cover so the third shot would hit him square in the jaw. After she took a moment to restrain the two, she'd move around the side of the building, shield in one hand with her weapon ready. Hopefully Mark didn't get himself in a pinch while she took her little 'detour'.
