Miroru was clearly admiring of the scrappy Irish brawler, though clearly envious of his quirk. By implication, it was clear she wished she had the convenient access that Jun herself had as well, but she couched it all in comments designed to help build connections, not burn them.
Still, she couldn't do much but blush a tiny bit and look away as Jun determinedly praised her directly. "Both, hm... you're right, of course. I know you are. I need to figure out some ideas for the sweet spot between folx I can handle in CQC and like. Megathreats that can take everything I throw at them." A beat. "And probably some sort of emergency plan in case I need that kind of firepower where I haven't got enough free energy to bring it to bear. I won't always be fighting on sunny summer days," she admitted.
"A brainstorming session... I'd like that. A lot, actually." She looped her hands behind her head and looked up at the sky quietly. "I appreciate the energy and time you're willing to spend on and with me, Junsuina-senpai. I know it's kind of a project of your own... but I appreciate you, anyhow. I know people things aren't super easy for you."

Miroru nodded as Farrin gave some more insight into how it all worked, lining up analogies with the concept of diving into a pool. She had to stop and consider what it must be like, to risk losing control of not the energy, but the FILTER, when getting overexhausted, of drowning in things that hadn't happened- or had, but in different ways, or maybe different times? She wasn't entirely clear, but she got enough.
"It's gotta be stressful having that all just sort of... seething, right outside your control. Most people lose touch with their stuff if they get exhausted- you get overwhelmed by it. That's a heavy thing. I know Thea's got it rough in a similar way, having all the access but the danger being in losing control of it." She tilted her head back and peered up. "I catch things sometimes. Blips. Like... radio chatter, but on frequencies no radios use. It's not like I can decode digital transmissions, so it doesn't like... feel like information I can digest, but... I dunno. They're weird. Maybe they've been happening the whole time, and it'd just take specialized equipment to pick up those weird spikes in those funky frequencies." She shrugged. It was mysterious. She kind of liked it that way. Understanding it meant... being responsible for it sort of.
She wasn't sure she wanted to be.
"No, I get it. I don't actually hear all these EM signals, but it's easiest to describe the sense of them in my head in terms of sonar and sounds. People understand frequencies when it's sound, and everyone's seen sonar screens and their little bleeps."
She nodded up at him and shook her hands out, creating a rough copy of the obstacle-crowded alley she'd tested her boots in. "Go for it! Clear the course and win a kewpie doll!"

"Maybe!" Miroru yelled forwards. "I'm game if you are!"
God, but she sounded closer than Kin probably liked.
Miroru bounded through darkness in pursuit of the arsonist, chasing her into the tunnels, which was going to be unbearably dangerous for both of them. Miroru had the mobility to scoot over a train if she needed to- in truth, she was more worried about "Schrodinger's" safety than her own, and she harbored some level of respect for the use of nonharmful flashbangs over lethal weaponry. Still... arson was horrendously dangerous even on empty buildings, and she needed to be taken off the streets before she hurt someone.
And even with all the rushing power of the subway all around her, Miroru wasn't willing to utilize it to subdue the other runner.
Instead, Kin was treated to the impossible sight of her pursuer manifesting in front of her, every footstep echoing in the tunnels as she approached, the sound closer and closer to her back-
-wait, what?
As the sound in all likelihood registered as actually being behind her, the cloaked kitsune leapt into the air and threw one hell of a sucker punch at the back of Kin's head with the goal of socking her unconscious, to be dragged safely from the tunnels and into the waiting arms of the authorities!

A previously ignorable background noise started to become fortuitously more notable as Hoshino allowed herself the indignity of wondering if it might help to have... help. Distant thuds and scrapes, coming closer! It was even now pretty significantly overhead, eventually surfacing as a rooftop structure- stair access or some such- exploded into concrete powder as a skeletal, humanoid bot slammed a fist through it in pursuit of a petite, redheaded girl with a fox tail and less obvious fox ears!
She wasn't so much outspeeding it as she was outplaying it. She was dodging by virtue of skill and positioning instead of outpacing the blows, leading it towards the corner of the rooftop, where she was "clearly" trapped- only to lunge just into its reach as it struck, pivoting to yank down on its hand and overbalance it towards the edge of the roof and send it crashing down to the street below a half block or so away from Hoshino!
As it impacted, a cheerful chime sounded, and a display plate on its chest turned green, indicating it had been successfully disabled, leaving the redhead up top to plunk down on the edge of the roof and, apparently, catch her breath- noting Hoshino and waving down at her as she noticed the other student.

"Holy CRAP."
Miroru gawked as she showed up to where Thea had asked her to show up. She hadn't fully realized it was one of the upper class piers around the city- much less that she was going to be boarding one to "catch a ride to the party."
"You said "A RIDE" to the party! I thought we were grabbing a cab or something!" Miroru hissed anxiously as she scrambled up onto the deck to join Thea, pulling her hoodie down over her head. "You're not... like... doing insider trading or anything to afford this, are yo-" Miroru broke off her whisper and shook her head, ears flopping delicately to the sides. "Waitwaitwait, don't- don't tell me, I don't wanna know!"
There might only be ten minutes or so before the official departure of Sumi's amazing yacht, but it was enough time for the absolutely, ridiculously, ostentatiously lavish nonsense that Thea had somehow secured to cruise into the docks nearby and let both the mentat and the fox onto the piers to meander over to Sumi's yacht to join the party as it started to kick off properly!
Everyone was here- or, well, lots of people! Junsuina-senpai, Freja-chan, whose cheeks were already red... and that sorta exhausted most of the people she was specifically happy to see. Zen had made it pretty clear he wasn't much a fan after her showing at the demonstration (and she was honestly worried he'd think this was her showing off all over again), Sebastian was... well, he was tolerable but a scoundrel in every sense of the word, and the gal with the juice box, the maid on Zenkai's arm, and the... the... uh... person... with the broom... with eyes... were unfamiliar, as were the girl with the smoke.
So Miroru resisted the urge to shove her fox ears under her hood or to grab Thea's hand, and instead waved as they boarded, smiling and trying not to let her nerves bite her on the ass. "Hiiii, everyone!" she said weakly, fully expecting about half of those present to react negatively to her mere presence.

The squeeze helped to ground Miroru in the moment, and things clarified. Her mind was still buzzing- it always was, with thoughts and music and plans and that ever-present, nagging hiss of the background radiation of the universe at large. The map she'd concocted with Thea had materialized from out of that hiss, born of Miroru's experience in feeling out the blank patches in it to track out objects and entities nearby.
One thought kept flickering, though. Even when coaxed to focus. Thea herself. Not a distraction, but a constant consideration. Even in the flickering moments considering how she'd bring down the hammer of real justice on someone buying his way out of its reach, every barnstorming fantasy started with the same thoughts.
Mark threats. Kill the guns. Minimize risk to Thea.
Notably absent, though?
Much thought at all about minimizing risk to HERSELF.
"Upstairs." Mimi confirmed, slipping more fully back into her own head as Thea excused herself from the headspace. She couldn't stop the smile, though, as Thea held the door, touching her shoulder in passing and smiling from a faintly canted head. "Thanks. We got this." She stepped in and her ears flicked, pantomiming her thoughts as she blitzed out the tracks to the room upstairs, prioritizing populated areas and straight lines to minimize exposure and travel time all at once before leading Thea upwards towards their destination.
The art enjoyment would have to wait for another time.

"That's- fair. I couldn't have taken a pounding like that. Not even close. I maybe coulda taken them out, but I couldn't have protected the civilians while I did. Giving them all a target they couldn't conquer saved those people a lotta trauma. Well done," Miroru said, glancing back out the hole in the wall.
"That's reasonable. Yeah, that'd be hard to manage, even before the weight. I think your assessment is on point, too. Hunkering down isn't the answer. We need to get them out of danger entirely, and-"
Farrin arrived, and Miroru turned towards him, eyes wide a bit at the up-close demonstration of his speed. "Yeah. I was just telling Ironclad her judgment that it'd be best to move sounded on the money." Miroru thought a little bit, then took a deep breath. "I think I can help with the debris. I can't stop it from getting to us- but I can show everyone where it's gonna be. I'm gonna have to basically just follow somebody, but I can project dark streaks to show where incoming debris is gonna fly. There's dead spots in the background energy levels wherever there's objects, and the wind is a pretty constant direction, so I can blotch out dangerous spots. We should be able to get them to safety like that."
The redhead rubbed her wrists absently, but opted to keep the details to herself. She didn't need them worrying about her when they'd both already stated they'd get worn out. It wasn't too tiring to just make black streaks by stopping light.
She sucked back an intense breath as Farrin warped time around them, laughing breathlessly. "OH! Oh man, yeah, I can totally do it like this! Come on, focus on moving everyone! Just keep everyone out of the black spots!" True to her word, she started to kill the light along the paths of incoming debris, making it very easy to avoid danger by simply not standing in the black streaks in mid-air!

Weeks.
Weeks of following discretely.
Of trying to make sense of things.
Of searching for anything like reasons. Regret. Anything to symbolize that Thea hadn't just suddenly lost all interest in her. That... that suspicion cut fucking deep. She could feel the raw edges of that wound even now. Whispering that she was wasting her time. That she should give up. Give Thea her space. Let her leave in peace. That was so obviously what she wanted.
Except... it didn't make sense.
There'd been no hints of this. Not one. Not ever. And she'd kept herself so thoroughly open to Thea that she was positive she had nothing to hide. So there wasn't any paranoid panic of being discovered or anything like that.
Just a lack of information, and anxiety working overtime to fill that void.
So when Mateo finally opened the door, it was to the site of Miroru. Dark circles under eyes clear as the dickens. Stress provided sharpness where lack of sleep tried to dull her. But as a result, she was on edge. She stared. Not accusingly. Just... wondering, through the veil of hurt.
"You've been avoiding me."
That's all she said. Quietly.
It was enough.

"If you're sure, Freja-chan!" Miroru chirped. From her perspective, if Freja was happy with the outcome, then her hurrying had done its job! Mission- complete. She reached out and set her fingertips on the back of Freja's hand reassuringly as she spoke of scary femme stuff. "It IS a big and confusing world of stuff and things. And you're not alone or wrong in feeling so."
The fox nodded firmly at the next comment. "Mmh! Everything's got kinks to work out. Some of the trickiest ones aren't even obvious until you're neck deep and it's too late to try to do anything but frantically adapt!" A grin, and an elbow gently pushed into Freja's side. "We ARE lucky. You're at the top of the list, though, missy. You don't get into UAU on skill alone without topping the "talented folx" charts!"
"Hmhmhmhm... you've fallen for my trap! Now I can get you cute things and you've no choice but to accept, because it's what friends do! AHAHA! My villainous scheme, come together at last! Prepare thyself! For GIFTS. And goodies and surprise stuffs!
...
... after we get takoyaki," she said, pointing to a little stand nearby with a stocky kid plunking octopus bits into batter on those iconic little half-sphere trays.

"To my understanding, that's pretty much precisely how it works- but when he accelerates the air pushed downwards, that vacates the space of the field he creates while preventing air from flowing back in from below. So air rushes in from all sides, and rushes downwards all over again, and thanks to conservation of energy, all that rushing air moving downwards creates upwards thrust on his feet!"
She nodded to confirm his conclusion. "Yep. Still moving. I mean, I CAN stop it. But you wouldn't see it then. It'd just be blackness. Which- I mean, I do have an idea related to that but it's... a bit much. And very much a desperation tactic. So I hope I'll never need to use it."
The idea of piezoelectricity sparked- no pun intended- the fox's thought process, and she perked up, tail and ears flicking upright in a heartbeat. "Oh. OH. That's- that's a GREAT idea! And WIRING is fine as long as there's no CONTROL mechanisms besids my quirk. Like... Junsuina-senpai recommended I look for ways to shorten my TTS. Or, uh. Time to shutdown. Or subjugation, stun, subdual, pick your favorite S word. If we used some rudimentary force projectors powered by piezoelectric crystals wired into them, I'd hit them twice for every blow I landed. Heck, we could even build in capacitors to store charge for use in other ways! That's a GREAT idea." She started scrambling around, collecting parts from around the room while they talked.
"As for the Quarmpack, would it be at all helpful to have piping from your... hands? Through the pack? If you have tanks in the pack, you'll be able to offload some of your quirk's production, and then you can use apertured nozzles and pressure systems to direct and focus or spread the water as needed! With the proper internals, you could probably even manage a water jet cutter for getting through steel and debris in a disaster zone or for easy manufacturing."

Iphi's understandings of their similatities was right on point. Miroru didn't point it out often, but she'd more or less completed a bachelor's on independent study in the fields of practical electromagnetic physics.
"Mm... well, it CAN do that, the same way a prism can refract or focus light into different parts of the spectrum, but mostly it's a manipulatory quirk. The conversion is really just a facet of the manipulation," Miroru clarified for the other scientist. She glanced away at the mentions of lots of options, chewing on the inside of her lip and managing not to externalize her own frustrations with the way her quirk worked- and the ways she felt it let her down.
She watched on as the test fire commenced, and Miroru rubbed her chin as she was consulted. "Well, obvious answers would be to narrow the apertures or increase the pressure expressed on the air to expel it... but I wonder if it might not be more easily controlled by working heating elements into the compression chambers? Temperature would also result in an increase in temperature, and regulating the output of a heating coil seems a wise way to work with existing structures without introducing excess stress on the apertures."

Miroru's self denigration was a defense mechanism. She'd heard so much, for so long, about all the ways her quirk was flawed, unsuitable, inferior, that she'd gotten in the habit of pointing out the bald spots on its coat herself before others could jab at her. It might begin to take shape as Jun heard it over time, but Miroru felt like her successes were in spite of her quirk and not supported by it. She compared herself to those whose quirks could be used to directly aid in the capture or subjugation of violent perpetrators, and in her eyes, compared to such perfect matches, her own quirk was... a joke. Parlor tricks.
Once Jun started to understand how Miroru viewed her own quirk, her behaviors might start to make more sense.
"Thank you, really. I worked super hard to get those skills to where they are now." Clearly, the petite foxling didn't have an issue accepting praise on skills she had worked up herself! "Yeah, anything on the EM spectrum- electro to magnet and all the quirky radiations between."
She nodded at the comment about time to subdue, scratching the back of her head. "Yeah, I- I know. It's something I'll probably always seem to suffer at in sparring matches. I don't care enough about winning to seriously hurt my opponents. I'll take the L every time until there's something real on the line."
The redhead grinned at the praise to the boots. "They're awesome, right? I helped Farrin use the physics behind their designs to start skywalking himself! He accelerates the air displaced as his foot comes down, so fast that it sucks in more air, which accelerates, so his feet turn into little jets every time he blips his quirk."
Miroru folded her hands behind her head and peered up at the sky. "So... primarily, you think I should focus on rapid take-down tech or techniques?"

On the rooftop, Miroru's ears flicked upwards likewise before flattening back to keep the wind out of them as she shot across the rooftops, in hot pursuit of the girl below- and very much not in pursuit of the grenade hurled back her way! This time, Miroru knew what to expect, and Miroru wrapped her quirk around the grenade as it flew, demanding only one thing- the outward, lossless release of the infrared heat created by the detonator.
Rather than starting the chain reaction it should have, the extremely clever grenade bled its heat outwards without ignition, rendered a dud by the clever scientist hero in pursuit- one that melted entirely out of sight as she sprinted straight off the roof and into a descent towards the subway in an accidental evasion of Kin's extremely potent quirk- by rendering herself invisible, she also prevented light from reaching her eyes, and thus ensured eye contact couldn't be initiated, much less broken!
The ominous whoosh of air was all that signalled Miroru's presence as she kept sprinting off the surface of the ground, more easily located by the debris and dust kicked up with every pulsing gush of air that kept her aloft, like a ghost hunting Kin specifically as she made for the train tunnels with the pipsqueak fox in hot, invisible pursuit!
