"I did. The score's been evened to everyone's satisfaction," Miroru stated simply. She didn't need to go into detail about how hilarious Sebastian had looked when she blasted him with low-level current in revenge. "But if I have further issues, I'll reach out to you immediately."
The words she got from Alexandrei weren't exactly what she expected, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to shrink into her chair or lash back out. She felt extremely misunderstood (which wasn't uncommon). "Six feet under? I'd only-"
But he continued. Spoke of being looked up to. "Yes, I'm aware, that's why-" Still more, and those last three words settled her reply firmly into fight over flight.
"Excuse me, sensei," she said in a clipped tone. "You seem to be operating under the impression that I am anything like my father. I assure you I am not." She started to count off facts on her fingers.
"The only incident which gives anyone an idea of the edges of my quirk's capability was done in not only extremely controlled, but also *ideal* circumstances. It is not only beyond my willingness to exert that sort of force with any regularity close to something needing containment, it is also beyond my capability most of the time.
Moreover, I do not value violence for its own sake. I have yielded in class exercises where my only options to attain a win involved serious harm to my classmates. I can assure you the same restraint will be enjoyed by any suspected criminals I have to engage.
And third, if you examine my performance and history since arriving at this school, the only situations in which any students were harmed by my quirk as opposed to my physical combat capabilities were one person suffering mild heat exhaustion and-" Pause. She sat back, crossing her arms. "-and one other individual who would have come forward with complaints if we didn't agree he deserved it."
She kept her gaze off to the side, feeling uncomfortable enough to not force the point of eye contact. "I'm not my father. He's the one that likes hurting people. I don't even use my quirk to make electricity because I don't want to be anything like him. I'm not here to learn how to hurt people, I'm... I'm here to learn how to help people work together. So we can move away from the toxic morass that is current competitive Hero Society."
A long pause.
"So you don't have to worry about me containing my quirk," she finished quietly. "Death is not an acceptable conflict resolution tactic outside of immediate necessity to save a life due to zero recourse."

"Prism, yeah! And thank you! I figured it's the sort of name that's recognizable, and without negative connotations, so it'll be inspiring in the field. That's the idea, anyhow," Miroru stated as she ran after Iphi. "I'm still not sure I'll ever have anyone inspired by me, but my goal's really more to help build up my classmates so we can be a new generation, a new breed. Working together for real instead of being divided by petty stuff like fame and fortunes."
Never know if they have hostages? "Actually, we can get a pretty good idea. Hang on a second." Miroru's eyes unfocused for a brief moment, and she lifted her hands, twisting the light between them into a wireframe map of the store's interior. "Objects block infrared light, and I can sense where it is, so I've got... y'know. Like a little minimap." She highlighted the hot spots, each one a person.
"Oh, I hate gunfire. It's why I play preventative. Don't worry about their guns. They won't fire unless I get knocked out or something. My quirk'll be mostly focused on that but it'll even the odds in our favor. Leave that to me!"
True to her word, that suppressing fire didn't come. The gunman held down the trigger, and nothing happened, and before he could do anything about it, his friends were on the ground with a hero on each. "Already on this guy!" Miroru called out, snapping a set of zip ties around his wrists and ankles, with a second tie through each loop fed into each other to keep his wrists near his ankles. "What about that guy?" She asked, gesturing towards the guy without a working gun!

Miroru followed, her hands in her hoodie pockets, long loose pants hiding the custom kit that was her Skywalkers. "That rough, huh..?" She thought for a moment and spent a bit focusing, scanning Farrin's body for any sort of latent signal, such as that a tracking device would emit. Aside from his cell phone, of course, which would make sense to have background communications going on.
"So you sifted that detail from the chaff of your... insights? Outsights? I like the word outsights. Peeks, glimpses into times outside our-"
Miroru paused and looked to the side for a moment. That warble again. The quavering signal. Then gone. "... own." She kept moving.
"No worries. I'll keep you appraised too," she said, moving to lean against the wall with her eyes unfocused. Exactly the opposite of his direction.
At least until the little holographic map of their surroundings popped up.
Mapped from presence and absence of infrared rays, with markers for high concentrations- hot things, like people. Tracking their movement. A little in front of his face and to the side, like a heads-up display. She could at least keep him appraised of any presences near the pair of them.

Miroru froze dead at the assertion. There were a lot of things she'd been braced for, but that wasn't one of them. For a moment- a long moment- it cut deep, and she came close to walking out just to avoid the possibility of any more pain than this.
But...
That wasn't right.
She wasn't like Thea, she didn't have magical mind reading powers. But she'd felt Thea's heartbeat pick up in her arms. Felt Thea's cheeks warm against her own throat when she said nice things about her.
But all the same... she didn't feel the same things from her now. Something was different. Wrong, maybe. Or maybe the old Thea was what had been wrong. She didn't know. Couldn't.
But none of that mattered.
Miroru's head dropped. Eyes hidden behind her bangs. "The only thing you did wrong was lie about what this really is." She said the words quietly, and looked up at last. "I don't know what's actually going on. I believe you that you don't feel anything right now. But I don't for a second believe it was that way before. We were- we were..." She struggled with the words for a moment, as her voice finally cracked. "We were -friends.- That wasn't fake."
And then that offer. Miroru's eyes went wide, and her head whipped into a shake. "No, no, nonono. I told you. I TOLD you I wouldn't regret you. I still don't. I don't know what this is, but it isn't changing that. It's weird, and it- it does hurt." Quiet. "A... a lot. And I don't know how you could really be my friend before, which you were, and be honest about feeling nothing, which you were, but... there's gotta be a reason."
A longer quiet.
"Why won't you tell me what it is..?"

Thea's deliberate encouragement helped to bolster Miroru against her reluctance to experience whatever unpleasantness her presence might inspire among those present. She felt like they held the sway here, like the displeasure of those few she thought would be less than delighted to see her wander aboard might sour the goodwill others might have.
Which was honestly selling her friends short, but c'est la insecuritoi.
For the moment, she glanced to Thea at the squeeze and strengthened her faint smile with a firm shot of gratitude, holding her head a bit higher as she turned back to the others, letting Thea ask what they'd missed.
She heard someone yowl Freja's name- oh, that made sense, she was perched on top of Zenkai, that made sense!- but before they got an answer, a guy with white hair- not Kupo, someone without fox bits- introduced himself, and Miroru latched onto it as a safe point for conversation, waggling a few fingers past the long sleeves of her hoodie. "Heya, Kenta. I'm Miroru, and this is Thea. Nice to meetcha!"
And then there was a new voice speaking to Thea, and Miroru turned to Marlene, blinking, and smiling a little more. "It is a really cool ship, isn't it?" Then the introduction turned her way, and Miroru started to finally relax as the warm welcomes weren't a fluke. "Oh! Hello, Marlene. I'm Miroru. Just, um. Just Miroru. It's nice to meet you! And- yeah! I know Thea." She glanced at the darker girl, then back to Marlene, beaming. "We're friends." The word was spoken with pride, not ease or hesitation. She knew friend wasn't something Thea would accept easily, and she was proud to be one of Thea's.
Even if the external analysis of their relationship suggested other brands of intertwining!
She was distracted by Jun shrilly yelping something about touching, but she couldn't quite see where her senpai had headed off to, and she was briefly distracted by a wave from Actual-brand Kupo, which she returned- roughly just in time for him to reappear mid-air, shot-putted off the side of the yacht.
"AAAAAAAAAAAA! JASON-KUN!" Miroru shrieked, shocked by the turn of events- and relieved as she saw someone head after him. She felt the energy he was gathering collect, and exerted herself discretely simply to keep Jack's backblast from reaching the ship (which it might not have done, but best to play it safe), but with him safe, it was acceptable to turn her focus back towards the deck and those around her. "Goddammit indeed," she said, missing the impressive eye-roll. "Everyone's okay, but that coulda gone rough," she agreed with Marlene, not quite understanding that her response might have something to do with WHO had done the throwing.
A yell from on high got her attention, and she looked over at Freja, blinking at the level of sloshed she had already accomplished, snickering at her extra cheery giggles, and stepped over to snag a shot and throw it back- only to squawk loudly and cough, imitating a strangled songbird as she tried to catch her breath and clear her throat! "GWAGH! Was that kerosene!?!?"
And then things got wild!!!
Everyone started to break up after the big reveal, except her and Thea- glancing at the other girl's hand, Miroru couldn't hide the huge smile that chance had kept them in the same group- though Zen seemed to be keeping his own definition of group as he exploded onto the ship all on his own! Miroru glanced upwards and created a brilliant 3-D "TEAM 10!" over their head, calling all their teammates over their way- at least the ones that were collecting for the scavenger hunt! "C'mon, let's get over by the gangplanks so we can head on once we find our group!"

Was... that a storm pun?
Oh, boy.
Miroru did her best not to snicker at the one-liner, braced as she was for combat, and moved in as Farrin breached the lines to take on the controlled and exposing that they seemed to bear no will of their own. That begged a question, and a very interesting one. Could Bravo see from the eyes of his puppets?
Or were they entirely dependent on his awareness for control?
She did some quick mental calculations. Both Oberon and Ironclad were better equipped for lengthy brawls than she was. Farrin's acceleration gave him a strong evasive edge, much as Johanna's metals gave her a defensive one. Miroru had tricks, but she was still limited by a lack of actual enhancements to her physicality. No extra speed, no extra durability. So it was in her best interest to tilt the battle in their favor sooner rather than later.
As the goons discarded their guns, Miroru threw herself into the melee, a pair of them already charging her, skidding to a sloshy stop right in front of them as they brought their stun batons to bear! Had they caught Miroru off guard? She didn't block! She didn't dodge! She just...
... caught them.
As her hands closed around the rods (and as her palms bruised from the impact itself), the power surged into the petite, soaked fox, leaving her arms steaming, apparently from taking in the energy. Gritting her teeth, she twisted the stolen shockforce into retaliatory spears of electricity, lanced into the two puppeted SWATs, careful to modulate the released energy to leave their indicators orange and not red. As the pair dropped, she reversed her grips on the stun batons and twisted the light around Bravo, drawing a horizon around him that light would no longer cross, blacking out the space within to see what happened when he could no longer see his puppets!
Zapped the two goons on her with the power from their own shock batons, tried blocking the light from around Bravo to see if it'd interrupt his control of his drones in the slightest!

"Of course I am."
Miroru said the words calmly as she followed him. Small, but he knew what she was packing. She had his back the moment he explained he had concerns and needed backup to investigate something potentially awful. She didn't have all the details- she knew nobody ever really did- but knowing there'd been guns involved was concrete assurance she could make herself useful.
Plus, she wasn't an idiot. She knew she was almost a bona fide get out of jail free card if things went south. One she was happy to hand to the Irishman with the penchant for justice. If they had to make a bolt for it under cover of literal darkness, she was happy to make it happen.
"So what all has happened in your previous encounters? Have you run into them more than once? Or just the one clash leave you feeling skeezy about what they might be up to?"
Honestly, this felt cathartic. A chance to stand up and do the right thing without the Law over her shoulder. If she'd learned one thing watching her father abuse his victims, it was that the Law did not always protect those who needed it. Sometimes, it protected precisely who it was intended to- and not at all those in need of protection. She kept a metaphorical eye out, marking bodies she could sense moving nearby, feeling for patterns... and for short-wave radio bursts.

The bullet holes and knife cuts didn't go unnoticed. Miroru's hand snapped onto Thea's wrist- gently but insistently- at the sight of them, hand laced over the fabric itself, then her eyes sought Thea's, clearly worried.
But that was for another time. She squeezed, gently. Released. Moved on, shedding her zip-up hoodie and tying it around her waist. She still had a long-sleeved tee with elastic wrists on beneath a thrifted band tee for some cutesy idol heavy metal band. They were wearing fox masks, which explained why she'd snagged it.
Miroru pulled a bobby pin from her pocket and knelt outside the door, reaching for a power socket. "No promises." One jab, and the lights in the museum cut out- outside the private wing...
Except for the lightning storm writhing around the fox's left hand.
With her right, Miroru held out a finger as a thin ribbon of black extended from her fingertip, a gentle breeze ruffling the hallway as the thin rail of intense heat ignited the oxygen inside its space, the hidden flame devouring more air to burn hotter and hotter as its light was entirely recycled into itself. In a tiny moment, Miroru had herself a plasma cutter, and two quick movements slagged the latch and lock, leaving Miroru to release the plasma into a dot of black light over her head as she threw the door open and strode into the hallway, muttering positions for Thea as they moved. "Two, left door. One, right door. Two, second right."

What had she expected?
Not Thea, looking perfectly fine.
Being busy.
"Oh." Miroru's eyes slid to the side, to the window.
Tremble.
She blinked. She'd felt that.
Tremble.
Vibrato in the frequencies outside.
Tremble. Identical, three times, but the pattern was still something she couldn't recognize. But then it was over. And she looked back to vacant eyes.
"... yes."
The word was out of her mouth before she'd made the decision. And then she was walking in, marching to the opposite wall beside Taro-kun, leaning there. Thumbs tucked into her skirt's waistband, looking at Thea through her bangs.
She waited for the door to close, then spoke. "You don't have to pretend. If there's a problem, you know I want to hear it so I can fix it. I haven't got any secrets from you, so you don't need to- manufacture. Excuses or anything. Just- tell me. Was I too clingy? Did it go too fast? Is there someone else? You know I wouldn't mind if-" She paused, shook her head. "No, -you- would mind. Is that it? Is there somebody else?"
Clinical insistence. Demanding to know what was going on. And even now... no hate. Just- a desire to understand. A trust that she had a reason.
She clearly wasn't going to make this easy on him.

Miroru kept on Hyousuke's heels as he led the way, trotting along a little more fast-paced due to being shorter than he was, but no less determined to make the most of this patrol. She didn't seem to be tempted to haul her phone back out- but then, if he'd made the connection, he'd probably realize she had a minimap in her back pocket referencable on a moment's notice. She was keeping track of their position as they travelled, ready to act but without much to respond to.
"I concur. Seems like he just wants a smoke. Nice of him to go outside," Miroru stated quietly, nodding to Hyousuke- and waving to the civilian as he glanced their way, prompting a hesitant but relatively friendly wave back. "To the next theoretical hotspot then?"

Miroru felt more understood by Iphi than she did by most of her classmates and teachers. It wasn't that they were dumb by any means, but the specific interest in scientific pursuits separated her from most of the hero course and its teachers. Tons of pro heroes used gadgets, but how many of them designed them?
The cheerful "correct" was exactly what Miroru loved to hear and she perked right up, and tuned in to the solutions Iphi had manufactured for herself. "Ohhhh. So... do you use the nitinol to act as a piston to compress the air, or as the pressure chamber to collapse in on itself?"
The question wasn't answered- the world interjected and demanded Iphi's attention, but rather than excuse herself, Miroru was invited along! On the spot, the fox leapt up, ears upright and tail quivering with excitement! "Yes! Absolutely! I'm on your heels, Recall-sama! I'll make sure not to let you down and ensure you don't regret this!"

With the storm worsening, it was an incredible relief to get the civilians to the safe zone, and Miroru dared to let herself breathe a sigh of relief- only to have it mottled moments later by a howling engine and a screeching horn, drawing attention back towards the streets. Miroru balked for a moment at the sight of the vehicle, massive as it was, and at the sight of everyone piled onto its sides, all armed with firearms.
Silently, Miroru overlaid her position with an image of herself recoiling and covering her mouth with her hands, standing still and shocked as she, blinded but unseen, sprinted forwards. There was more than one gun. She knew she could squash thermal reactions in one spot, but this was like a half-dozen guns, all of it moving, the reactions inconsistent and unsuitable to anchor a denial zone on. How was she going to do this?!
She could hardly pay attention to the monologue as she sprinted through the storm slowing and stepping to the side only once she could feel the engine's heat in her quirk's senses- and saw her opening.
As the controlled mook slammed his foot onto the gas pedal and the other goons pulled the triggers on their guns...
Nothing happened.
"What's the matter?"
The fox's illusory double flickered and faded as her voice rang out and the sodden fox revealed herself about halfway between her allies and the villainous busload. "Having a little trouble with all those fancy guns and expensive tank?" Yelled the soaked fox, her posture strong despite the sodden sag to her ears, hair and tail. "If you wanna come out on top of THIS climax, you're gonna have to do it the old fashioned way. There's six of you and three of us. By MY count-" She struck an unorthodox brawler's pose, the drag of her feet in the rainsoaked streets splashing up a dramatic spray of runoff into the air behind her as she prepared herself, her own speech buying time for her allies, both of them talented in hand to hand as well, to form up with her and draw the lines in the sand. Miroru snapped off one more line as she raised fists streaming with steam to either side of her face, staring between them like a dagger towards Bravo and "his" men!
"-that makes it just about even."
Quirk effect: pulls all infrared light in the area around the vehicle straight into the ground. Exothermic reactions like combustion release their energy as infrared light, and this prevents the firing caps from setting off the powder grains in the bullets and prevents the combustion engine from functioning!
Those stun batons work fine, tho.

"Oh." Miroru paused and blinked a bit. "I thought you were going to say you called it sifting cuz being exposed to all those different possibilities made you feel like your brain was "sifted" like flour, and you had to fight to gather it all back together again."
After that, though, Miroru relaxed and held the simulation for Farrin to navigate, a task he took to with energy and determination! In moments, he was rebounding from one direction to another, appearing to bounce off nothingness (not quite true, of course, but they didn't need to explain that to anybody else) as he wove through the cluttered illusory alleyway like nobody's business- and landed on his feet at the end, to Miroru's unabashed applause!
"Bravo! Well done! And other such declarations of victory! You picked this up super quickly," Miroru wondered, impressed. "Does everything come this easily to you? Or, do you have, like, a trick to accelerate your brain so you can learn faster?"
