Firstly, they are weapons, designed to provide an augmentation to her hand to hand over simply the base impact of striking someone with her bare hands, with an emphasis on disabling opponents rather than on injury or lethal potential. Secondly, they're generators, equipped with piezoelectric crystals that generate an electric charge, from the impact of each blow, of equal rank to the device itself. This charge can be absorbed by Miroru for other usage or allowed to progress through the circuitry built into her gauntlets into a close-range force projection device to add to the impact of each punch if extra oomph is needed to subdue her opponents. Notably, the generator mechanism has no controls, moving parts, nor power source, leaving them extremely difficult to interfere with, adhering to Miroru's insistence on using no equipment that can be hacked and turned against her. With everything the pair had talked about, the time had absolutely flown by. Miroru noted, but rather than interrupt their conversation, she simply started packing up her things so she wouldn't overstay her scheduled welcome in the lab. "Oh, no, that's exactly the idea- enough energy condensed into a small enough point and released all at once would violently supercharge everything around it and create a pressure wave of hyperheated atmosphere and vaporized materials. It'd be a literal bang if released all at once, or a sustainable- if extremely painful- way to generate energy if released under control."
She nodded at the offer and threw him a thumbs up. "I'd really appreciate that, actually- in fact, if you don't mind walking and talking, I'd love to get some tips for putting together a practical prototype- maybe we could finetune it next time we run across each other?"
Being able to give Kei some clever ideas for the Quarms lit Miroru up like fireworks, clearly absolutely delighted to have contributed something to his own designs! "It's okay, that's what fresh eyes are good for! We take what we already think we know for granted so easily that overlooking simple solutions can get clogged with our own presumptions, you know?"

The redheaded hero student ran back up onto the street after getting the civilians down into the subway, melting out of view again as she did her best to avoid getting clocked. Both to prevent her presence from being used against the heroes here in response to the villain attack, and also to avoid catching charges (or suspensions or demerits or whatever the school might levy!) for acting without authorization. Scampering along, she was getting closer and closer to that odd dim haze in her senses where the infrared energy was just being... depleted.
Closer up, she could see what was happening. Closer up, the energy became much more recognizable. It was not only cancelling out infrared radiation and removing heat from the solids it settled into, it was IONIZING.
Miroru was abruptly sick to her stomach at realizing that coming in hiding from the EM spectrum had likely accidentally spared her exposure to the carcinogenous energy aura. She could feel the shadow her presence cast in the waves of horrific energy, could sense the way it was pulsing not just against, but THROUGH the civilians, villains, and heroes present.
She knew better than to volunteer herself as a target, as potential hostage-bait for the White Queen. She needed to trust in the heroes to do the real work here in chasing off or subduing her, but-
-she could help protect everyone else.
She knew well that interfering with the deliberate output created by the Queen would draw attention. She was trying frantically to find a way to help without compromising the ability of the Pro Heroes to engage without having to worry about an extra body on the field. But she found one, a very, very simple one.
All the subtle radiation that the White Queen put out started to sift downwards rapidly after leaving her body, burying the cancerous radiation into the concrete underfoot. It wouldn't work forever- the radiation, after all, leeched heat, and before long, the concrete would be inexplicably colder sooner and faster than the White Queen would know her presence allowed for- and in a far smaller area, for that matter- but it would all be done subtly, simply safeguarding the heroes and others from the constant bombardment, that gradual death sentence.
As for her actual attacks... the pros would have to handle that themselves.
Miroru is invisible, and burying the PASSIVE radiation that Ishtar puts off in the concrete around the area! She is not interfering with the fight itself, simply insulating everyone but Ishtar from her cancer cloud's FURTHER effects!

There was a wonderful dramatism to Bravo's antics that left Miroru's heart singing. It wasn't that she was a fan of the violence or anything, but- this was... nice. There was a purity to what was being presented and asked of them, something she knew wasn't likely to replicate in the streets, but that in the moment simply felt precisely like the cartoons she'd grown up watching. She found herself smiling, just a little bit, as he took over the truck directly and wheeled it around.
"Maybe we can't stop ten million newtons of force, Bravo-"
"-BUT THEN, WE ONLY HAVE TO STOP YOU!"
Crossing the stun batons, they screamed to life, pumping out electricity in coiling ropes straight down Miroru's steaming arms- and into her body, where it swirled, twisted, bent- and erupted outwards as she aimed the crossed batons towards the back left tire in a blazing beam of pure, concentrated light!
The tire (unless Bravo's quirk somehow reinforced it!) shredded into flying scraps of rubber as the beam struck the wheel- and kept blasting, Miroru's quirk driving the focused beam into place and rapidly softening the metal, using the truck's impressive weight to smash the weakened metal into a collapsing lump, draining the batons, the rings glowing around her arms, everything she'd collected in an attempt to ruin the vehicle's mobility and kill most of its momentum!
"G-GO! BEFORE HE FINDS S-SOMETHING ELSE TO COMMANDEER!" Her voice caught and stuttered, easily mistakable for chill from the rain. After all, with all the energy she was using, it wasn't that strange that her soaked sleeves were steaming.
Who'd guess it was coming from inside the worsening burns creeping up from her wrists?

"Paki! Paki, drop it!"
Miroru's ears perked up in surprise on hearing the words, and the squeak of reply instead of a growl or bark like a dog might throw back. She'd come to the shrine as one of the places around the city where one could escape without obviously escaping, a place with easy ostensible reasons to be present without engaging with others. A nice place to take a break- but this felt... important.
Moving into the shrine, Miroru felt the place out and mentally tagged the warm, moving bodies as worthy of note- and promptly picked out the two chasing each other, one much smaller. She moved instinctively to help cut off the fleeing tiny target, crouching around a corner and sliding herself beyond the touch of light as Paki whipped around the edge of the building and tried to weasel his way into the bushes. As Kaida came after him, though, she'd likely hear a squawk and find him dangling midair from his treat bag- which much more reasonably was revealed to be held by a redhead with... her own set of fox features, namely a tail and her ears. She waggled the bag lightly at waist height, urging, "C'mon, buddy, give it up~"

The explanation helped bring what she was picking up back into perspective, and Miroru nodded, satisfied at his answer. "Is- that all it does though? Just some meds? It seems like having something to function like a heat sink or a cooling medium would work better for high-rate cooling needs. That, or like... a popsicle suppository, but nobody wants that." She grimaced.
She was a bit surprised that he caught on to her quirk so quickly, and she nodded slowly. "Ah... yeah. EM radiation, specifically, all the way from the electro to the magnetic half of the word." She shifted and grabbed a napkin to clean her hands off, and moved to shake his. Her hand was very normal, though calloused in surprising places consistent with the scarring and stress a bareknuckle boxer would encounter.
"I'm- Miroru. Just... Miroru." She introduced herself, quietly hoping that politeness would keep him from digging further into a detail she was clearly deliberately obfuscating.

"Right?" Miroru nodded along, and again to confirm Kei's grasp of the situation. However, he led straight into calling her out. "I, ah... no comment..?" She laughed weakly, then rubbed the back of her head. "Ya got me. That's pretty much it exactly. If I was really backed into a corner, if I deliberately overused my quirk, I could generate heat on the spot. It'd have to burn its way out from my veins through my arms, but I could harvest it into a feedback loop to burn oxygen for more energy. It just wouldn't be at all useful until I was already significantly injured, you know..?"
She didn't have anything to add as he summed up her ideas and praised them, eyes bright, ears perky and spirits high! "Smarter, not harder, is basically my life motto!" He moved back to the pack, though, and she tilted her head.
"Would it really be that complicated? Could you do something like- run those lines, but just feed them into dense sponges at the base of your palm? That'd keep you in contact with the water, and could totally just be part of a sleeve cuff, really. Or-"
Miroru paused and slapped her forehead. "OR! Even easier, if you had deployable handles with dense sponge grips, you wouldn't hardly need to store any water at all! Just enough to fill the handles, and as soon as you gripped them to aim the sprays, you'd immediately be able to blast water through the handles into and out of the arms! Then all you'd really need was a channel the water could pass through under pressure!"

With Hyousuke already leading the way onwards past the mundanity of their initial stop, they soon found themselves someplace that felt like main street in an old western. Swap out the twirling plastic bag for a tumbleweed and it might even make muster on film.
"I mean... me too, but this is a good thing. Right? Sure, maybe we don't get explicit combat experience right this second, but this is still good field experience. Mathematically, shouldn't most patrols go just like this one? Quiet, peaceful, maybe even a bit boring?" She asked, thinking over their lessons. "It takes a certain strength to stay alert and in the game even when things are quiet and boring. That sort of edge can save lives sometimes, I think? It's hard to grasp, but I'm willing to bet some of the most at risk in the very first moments of a disaster can only hope someone's paying enough attention to help."
"Well, we can definitely radio over if we don't find anything at all. Though in a real situation, a patrol isn't just one and done- you cover an area in circuits so that there's reason for villainy to stay away. Not a criticism, just thinking everything through, ya know?"

"Yeah, well, you grow up as target practice for a house full of walking tazers, you learn some takedowns and submission holds or buy a lot of conditioner. And I was alllllll outta conditioner," Miroru joked, nodding in confirmation of her willingness to do what she was asked. She frowned a moment before the footsteps registered, clearly having detected the rapid movement some other way just a hair sooner, and was already turning towards the sprinter as he blitzed away from the pair! "Son of a-!"
It wasn't the end, though, and Iphi saw to the problem in a heartbeat, proving the merit of her gear with a perfect takedown, leaving Miroru whistling in approval and something like envy! "Holy crow, that's effective. And about as non-lethal as you could hope for without sacrificing efficacy! That's a seriously solid design! Successful test, indeed!"
Her cheeks lit up at the direct invitation, and she reflexively pointed at herself in disbelief for a second, before catching the ridiculous gesture and hiding it! "That's- I'd- I mean, thank you!! When it's time for internships, I'll definitely have Ouros right at the top of my list!"

"Oh. Oh, hell. Yeah, I see what you mean. It's not like you can submit a prophecy as "exhibit A, your honor"," Miroru muttered, grasping the implications. "God. That's gotta suck. Having these... flashes, but never knowing if it's actually in our path- and even if it is, if you can get away with stopping it."
The praise did a lot to perk her ears up. She smoothed them back down with her hand as she ran it over her hair, laughing breathlessly. "Aw. Thanks. I do what I can. It took a lot of work to find ways to make it useful and versatile so it wouldn't matter that I couldn't take it full-throttle most of the time." She sighed hard. "And... and a LOT of really boring studying. I know stuff about photon refraction and short-wave radio distortion that'd put you to sleep in seconds if you had to read it."
She paused as she saw the symbol he showed her, squinting. "I- man, this is... super weird, but- there's..." She tapped at her phone as she spoke. "- like, a really old video game, back from the dawn of the vigilante era. Herocity?" She said, pronouncing it like "ferocity." "It's not quite the same- like variations on a theme- but there's a dimension-hopping society that called themselves Ouroboros. Which- I mean, it's not THAT creative," she said, showing him a picture on her phone.
"-that's just what the creature's called. It's always used in reference to cycles of some sort, though depending on context, it's either referring to cycles that really, really need to be broken- or cycles that really, really need to NOT be."

"Oh."
The reply came immediately as the teacher clarified, and Miroru shrank back into herself, frowning at her own sharp reactions and transparently starting to beat herself up over expressing herself so harshly. "Sorry. Really. I misunderstood, sensei. Please forgive my behavior."
She turned back towards him partly as he shared his logic. "... yeah. I know, that's- why I take it seriously. I want to be... better than that. I want them to know that when they look at me, what they see IS what they get. Someone striving for something better than backbiting heroes exaggerating crimes to sound better and poll higher. I want to be someone that criminals know is going to do what it takes to get EVERYONE home with as little hurt as possible. Desperation drives violence like a stampede."
She nodded faintly. "I'll keep it in mind. I don't know that I could do otherwise if I wanted."
Her face scrunched up promptly upon being asked about her family. "Simple. My father thinks I'm worthless because I didn't inherit his quirk right. So I'm gonna prove I can be a better hero than him without even using his precious electricity. I'll find other, better ways to stop villains." She frowned hard. "He doesn't deserve a -scrap- of credit for what I make of myself."

What the hell was going on?!
Miroru found herself pivoting from a relaxing day wandering from museum to museum interrupted by insanity. The fox's senses exploded with information. Gunfire. Blazes. Explosions. Energy discharges of all varieties across the spectrums she could sense. It was like the city had gone mad! She could see smoke and distant detonations, and something... something...
Something horrible.
She could sense it- or more, couldn't. There was a hole. A gaping chasm in the energy of the city, a hole devouring all the energy that passed nearby besides visible light. It was wrong in so many ways, and...
It was difficult to identify at a distance, but it had a lot in common with varieties of ionizing radiation. Anything exposed to that was going to be suffering from violent, rapid onset radiation sickness.
Miroru's blood drained from her face, and she started to run, every step carrying her into the sky as she sprinted up an invisible set of stairs to get up over the skyline and make a beeline for-
Oh, no.
Below, she saw someone spraying flames from their hands towards a city bus with melted tires. Taking a leap, she dropped a story at a time, taking another step to reset her descent as she rushed closer. She didn't hide her approach, letting the villain see her, turn the flames her way with a cackle, obscuring their own vision as-
Miroru blasted through the flames untouched and slammed into the villain with both feet, knocking loose every screw in their head as they fainted on the spot and collapsed, leaving Miroru to awkwardly stumble and run to throw open the bus door.
"Get someplace safe! The subways will probably be the most defensible places to take shelter! Hurry and get off the streets!"

The wave was noted, and Miroru nodded- and hiked herself off the ledge she was sitting on. Without any notable explanation from the distance she was at, she took a few halting steps midair, like a child skipping down a giant staircase, and landed cleanly, wobbling only a tiny bit as she trotted over to Hoshino's spot, tail waving slowly behind her and ears upright in curiosity.
"Hey! What's up?" She tilted her head and glanced at the building, ears twisting and rotating faintly. "... lotta drones. Assault exercise? Or something else? I can't really tell which course they're set for from the outside, the hostage settings look the same as stage two target densit-OH! I'm being so rude!"
She swept herself down in half, bowing at the waist to introduce herself. "I'm Miroru, a first year in Heroics! Just Miroru, if you please. It's nice to meet you- what's your name?"
