The Doctor is InTaking a long, long swig of her coffee Hebiru pointed May towards Lone Wolf. "The barbecue is his area of expertise." Briefly placing her coffee down on the roof of the man's Caddy she rummaged through the plastic bag she was holding. Heading over to him she handed over the brisket she had delivered through a priority order earlier today.
"It had only been seasoned about four hours ago. I am unaware whether this is sufficient or not." Hebiru had applied a pre-packaged dry rub that was recommended alongside her purchase and wrapped it in plastic wrap no sooner than it came out of the box it was delivered in but it was still very much a last minute order. With some luck it being A5 Wagyu would make up for any potential flaws. Not that she herself would be able to tell the difference. Her muted sense of taste meant she tended to eat for texture instead of taste with the exception of the rare few times she indulged in a large amount of either spice or sugar. Usually the latter. "A relatable problem. At times I wish I had several sets of fully functional arms. Limitation breeds creativity yet there is only so much one can alter a medical procedure."
In a way she was lucky to have an assistant as competent as Shokuhou. Many of the more... interesting injuries students that had occurred as of late would have been difficult to treat solely by herself. She'd petitioned for an additional hire for exactly that reason. Shokuhou performed way above her pay grade but there were a great many things she could not have a student assist with.
"I will pass on the alcohol. It would be rather detrimental at the moment."
Alcohol had little use for her regardlessly. An unfortunate side effect of her unique physiology caused some mind-altering substances to require a far higher dosage to affect her. Others seemingly required far less. It was an interesting conundrum Hebiru could not make heads or tails of, nor did she have a great many opportunities to gather data. It was a prospect that was challenging to tackle without qualified assistance.
Spotting Shirayuki pleadingly looking her way while trying to pry May off her Hebiru took another long swig of her coffee before turning away.
"Indeed it cannot. Counselor Sadako, have there been any particular problems that would require our shared attention? I have been informed miss Kanjo visited the Bay multiple times in a single day recently despite incurring injuries. Do you believe it may be a an interest caused by the incident?" Hebiru queried, confident Sadako know which one she was referring to. There were a great deal when it came to that particular student but one stood out for its lethality.
Despite the myriad warnings said student was far from the only one to return from a beach trip with injuries. Hojirozame had returned with a shark bite, O'rourke with cut on his shin and enough microinjuries to hint at a very busy day and Helt with enough injuries to add a noticeable amount of paperwork to Hebiru's workload, to name but a few.
Hearing their other new colleague join the conversation Hebiru looked his way and returned his greeting.
"Dr. Yanai, school nurse and resident medical researcher. A pleasure to make your acquaintance."
Something about the man reminded her of herself. She couldn't quite put her finger on what but it was enough to catch her interest. Perhaps she should look into his work. There might just be an overlap in their interests that could be beneficial to her research.

"I see," Mai said once more. "If it wouldn't be a bother I'll take you up on the offer then." She had to push out a sigh when she saw Hebiru take the uncooked brisket out. From what little she knew a slab of meat that big would take ages to cook. Chances were she'd have rush her patrol and double back after. "I do not gossip. It is immoral and unbecoming of a hero."The fact that the fashion magazines she read tended to have a gossip corner in them was a pure coincidence. Narrowly stopping herself from squealing when May poked her she took a step back and cast a meaningful look at Hebiru. Unfortunately it appeared she wouldn't be getting any help from her. "As for the, uh, 'scoop', as you put it. There are two new faculty member that were hired recently but, ah, I'm assuming you're already aware of that."Speak of the devil, there came the second one. He might have made a better first impression had he done so without opening his mouth but unfortunately for him Mai heard him before she saw him. Perhaps it was prejudiced of her but she couldn't help but feel like she knew what kind of hero he was, she'd seen his kind before. The ones that joined the field of heroics more for the prestige than the advancement of humanity as a whole. She supposed she couldn't judge. Everyone had their own goals in life and so long as the results were positive who was she to question the ambitions of others? Mai herself, as much as she tried to catch herself whenever the thoughts snuck up on her, was occasionally a bit too egotistical for her liking as well. Why, seeing the two new arrivals she couldn't help but think that perhaps she was too harsh on herself. She didn't quite have a handle on May yet but she very much had a bad feeling about Hasani. Still, they must have been hired for a reason. Perhaps it was her own naivety and lack of experience that was causing her to miss the obvious. "I see." She replied again, this time to the rest of Lone Wolf's explanation, not seeing at all. Her ego was pushed down once more. She still had a lot to learn. ------ Tags: lonewolf Sadako Gotoh Yanai Hebiru Nurse May Hasani Serna

“Uh-oh…” May’s being obnoxiously loud. Everyone already heard Mark’s confession, yet she brings attention to it for the banter. “Does Mark have a crush on Iphi? Oooo~” May takes a sip of her sangria, and by sip, she finishes the cup and immediately refills it, before continuing. “This is what I mean by the scoop Mai. Crushes are so juicy. Even if I don’t know who Iphi is. Are they the other new hire?” Speaking of the devil, the other new hire arrives. Unfortunately, it’s not Iphi. But the head of a support? Super cool! Maybe, he’ll even take a few shots in celebration of their new jobs. “Very impressive, Doctor..” May saunters over, speaking with her hands as best she could. Her glass was part of the show since he refused to part ways with it. Directly in front of him, he pulls out shot glasses with the mischievous twinkle in her eye glowing ever brighter. Turning around dramatically, she raises them to the sky. “We must have shots in honor of our new hires!” She looks back at Hasani with a wink, which deceptively looks like a blink were it not for the intentional emphasis provided. “Wanna help me pass these out, Doc?” The attention span of a fly. “HEBI! HOW ARE THE BRISKETS LOOKIN’?”

''I don't envy you. You have a whole class to look after, it must be hard to differentiate their learning so that every student gets an equal amount out of the lessons.'' As opposed to her who usually got to sit down and talk with them one on one. She didn't press him any further on the shitlist thing and just let the conversation flow as she sipped at her drink. Especially not when May brought up crushes as juicy gossip. Sadako was the last person who would want to engage gossiping about crushes, considering how head over heels she was for Felix. When Hebiru brought up Junsuina Kanjo, she shook her head gently. ''She has, hasn't she? It could be related to the incident, though one would think she'd be a little less eager to get into trouble after that?''She looked over when another new arrival made his presence known. Just one glance and she could tell he earned a different kind of hero money than she did, or maybe she was just that poor with her finances? ''Nice to meet you, Doctor!'' This was one she knew by hero name too. Not all too well since he was a foreign hero, but with a quirk like his how could she not be a little jealous? It was like the perfect quirk for counseling! ''Hey, can you tell how I'm feeling right now?'' She smiled, pointing at her face as she wanted to test his quirk. She was happy to be here, surrounded by colleagues on her way to getting tipsy. In fact, she was just very happy overall, but would he be able to parse that hint of jealousy within her? Yanai HebirulonewolfNurse MayHasani SernaShirayuki Mai

One might think Mark's first reaction to seeing Hasani would be one of disdain, or question the man's audacity, or even a few "gamer words" crossing his mind. In reality, and what Mark said aloud, was, "We didn't have a support head?" There were many things he tried to stay in the know of, but he was more concerned about enlisting support students over talking with the support department head. He was not one in favor of red tape. He would be momentarily distracted as Hebiru presented the brisket to him, surprise evident on his face as he immediately pulled a few burgers off to make room, setting them in a separate pan from the ribs. "We'll see how it turns out. Long as there's some kind of rub on it, should be fine." Brisket was something that had to be seasoned just right, but seeing as someone else brought it he couldn't say no to throwing it on the grill. So long as it was cooked thoroughly, it should be decent. "I'll pass on the shots. Dunno what kinda hard liquor you have, but this ain't an occasion for 'em," he says, his Japanese catching a little too much of his Midwestern drawl. Deciding to let things simmer, he set his utensils aside so Mai could use them before picking up both pans, moving over to the table. "Ribs and burgers are ready, for those that want any." He set them down, stepping back before dusting his hands off. He wouldn't bother get in on the injury talk, especially since...well, he was guilty of sending multiple students to the infirmary. That and he had nothing to contribute. He was also not going to touch May's prodding regarding the situation with Iphi. He already had an uphill battle to get back in her good graces, especially since she was possibly the best person to help him with his mission. Of course, there was also this new guy. "Mr. Serna, I appreciate the sentiment, but No Man's Land is a little pet project of mine. Apart from the occasional rebuilding of certain parts and the resetting and rearming of various traps it doesn't need a whole lot of refinement." He offered a smile before heading to a nearby cooler, opening the top and pulling out a bottle. That wasn't to say that his peers wouldn't be able to contribute, but there was something about this guy that rubbed Mark the wrong way. Probably because he was an academic. A N U B I S
THE JUDGEMENT HERO
Women were quite often headaches for Hasani. Usually through some fault of his own, but that was neither here nor there. This particular headache came from his mind grazing against the interest Hebiru felt toward him. A researcher with a twisted mind more convoluted than the hive-minded individuals he had encountered in the past was trouble. He made a note to avoid her in the future as a counterpoint to the indecipherable not she had made to do quite the opposite.
The other women were more tolerable in their thoughts. Expected. Mundane. An intoxicated lush, the naive virtuous maiden, and the well-meaning but envious woman. The former sought to put him to work. His previous once over had already eliminated her from the category of Hasani’s preferred type. The eye patch meant physical imperfection. Unacceptable by his high aesthetic standards.
“Sorry, sweetheart. I’m a top shelf only kind of guy and my hands are full.”
He pulled his hands free of his pockets. A lighter was in one hand and a pack of cigarettes occupied the other. May was on her own for arranging shots. Hasani at least had the courtesy to take a step or several from the group before lighting up. He had read enough complaints from various minds over the years about being near a smoker that he preferred to just mitigate them before they started these days.
As always, his actions while seeming well-mannered were from a source of selfishness. It might be amusing for him later to point out that the stick-in-the-mud with her holier-than-thou thoughts wasn’t so far off from being the same if she ever decided to voice her currently unspoken grievances. The way she wanted to be seen dictated her actions from what Hasani could glean. It was hardly any different from himself. He doubted she was the type to take that news well. So it stayed in his proverbial back pocket now.
The last woman was less offensive to Hasani’s sensibilities. Envy of his gifts was something he could appreciate. He took a deep draw of his cigarette as he pretended to muse over the question. “Hmmm. Happy,” he answered her question simply, though let the word linger to indicate a pause as if he was trying to parse more information out through a refined application of what he claimed his Quirk to be. He had to keep up appearances after all. “Though there’s something a little sharper beneath that. Is something troubling you, Counselor?” Hasani used the title he had heard Hebiru address her by when he had first stumbled upon the barbecue—the host of which Hasani was content to ignore for the time being. And by ignore, Hasani was actively scheming on how to do the exact opposite of what Mark intended by his declaration.

The Doctor is InLone Wolf's reply was vague enough to make Hebiru believe he was merely sparing her pride. Given his clear interest in the subject the words were telling. It was an approach she herself was very familiar with and often employed when encountering first aid provided by untrained good Samaritans. She'd have to make a note to prepare further in advance should there be another barbeque.
Given that there was nothing that could be done about it right now she put the matter aside and accepted a burger.
"One would hope so," She replied to Sadako. "Unfortunately at times feelings of powerlessness combined with an unhealthy dose of muleheadedness seem to combine to get one to confront said trauma over and over no matter how much it hurts them. I fear this may be the case for miss Kanjo.”
For a moment Hebiru looks lost in thought. Perhaps she should invite the third year along for a patrol or a mission to get a better look into her mind. Their previous cooperative effort was not under circumstances that left with her much time to focus on Junsuina's mental state. Hearing May speak up again Hebiru turns to face her.
"In excellent shape. The cow clearly maintained a healthy regime." She replied in an attempt to make a joke. Whether it worked out remained to be seen.
