[attr="class","ZenkaiExposition"]It was supposed to be a nice quiet day for Zen and Farrin, the two of them had planned to get some food and go to the Zoo in Tokyo for some quality bonding experiences. It was supposed to be a relaxing afternoon full of Baboons and bromance, of Hippopotami and Hamburgers. After the impromptu pot luck with Farrin and the rest of their new gang Zen had decided to get to know each of them individually and today was the day he and Farrin would become buds.
That all changed when the fire monkey attacked.
The Zoo didn't know it, the keepers didn't know it, hell even the poor monkey didn't know that he had a quirk but the minute the little capuchin discovered he could shout magma out of his butt things went south REAL fast. Shortly before the two students showed up the monkey had broken out of his cell by literally melting the lock before running around the entire Zoo doing the same for his animal brethren.
Zen probably should have realized there was a problem at the Zoo when a Zebra came running down the street past the two of them as they approached the entrance but he was too busy enjoying a slice of "NY pizza" and complaining to his fellow New Yorker about how it was definitely not NY pizza. It was only when they got to the ticket booth did he realize that something was wrong when there were no ticket takers and everyone inside the zoo was screaming their heads off.
"So..." Zen sighed as he wolfed down the rest of the pizza. "I think the Zoo's closed" The titan grumbled as he turn around, seeing the streets filled with all sorts of different animals roaming about "we should probably do something about that before anyone gets hurt" Honestly, Zen would have rather watched someone else corral the animals but he had always wanted to ride an Elephant and this was probably the only time he'd be able to do it. [attr="class","ZenkaiExposition"]Zen blinked a few times at the birds response, they were paying just as much attention to the orientation as he was, which meant she instantly had more respect for her than any of the other students around. "Dope, I like you, lets be friends" Zenkai chuckled, giving the bird a gentle pat on the back, doing his best to avoid the girl's wings in the process. He had to fight off the urge to play with them, they seemed kind of soft.
The urge quickly dissipated as the popcorn covered girl in front of them turned around to snap at him. "Oh, whoops, my B" Zen shoved some popcorn into his mouth before leaning over to try and brush some of the kernels off of the angry chick in a lazy attempt to assuage her anger. She was a cute girl, one of the few students who wasn't either Japanese, American, or European, Which once again instantly made her better than most of the students in his mind. "Don't worry, it's just popcorn, it's good for you!"
Zen had a feeling that this exchange would end poorly for him but he was luckily saved by the Lion who had decided that the questions had ended, probably because of all the stupidity happening, and now it was time for group tours. The Sapphire-eyed titan didn't even bother looking under his seat. Instead he turned to his two newest companions "So, we're a group now yeah? We seem to all be friends now" The enlighten one grinned, completely oblivious to the fact that one of the two still probably wanted to murder him. [attr="class","ZenkaiExposition"]Damn, this girl was awkward as fuck wasn't she? He thought he was just asking a few simple questions but apparently he had accidently started an interrogation. At first glance it looked like she was just uncomfortable with the questions being asked but after a while it just seemed like she was trying to find the perfect answers. It was pretty weird that she was trying to go through such lengths to try and... impress him? find common ground? come up with answers he'd like? It was probably something along those lines, she didn't need to try so hard, he didn't care that much.
"No quirk?" Out of everything the girl said, that was definitely by far the most interesting part. It wasn't every day that you found someone trying to be a hero who had no quirk what-so-ever. Usually people like that would just join the police force right? "That's pretty cool, you must be pretty awesome to have gotten into this school with no quirk." Zen grinned at his companion "Or determined...Or stupid, take your pick but you've definitely got guts being out here With no quirk, no one can say that isn't impressive." While Zenkai's voice might have sounded more bored than impressed he still meant every word he said.
"As for me, Video games, anime, manga, food, that kind of Jazz" It was the kind of surface level question that he was used to responding to, in fact it's why he asked them to Freja in the first place. Most of the time people just shot the same softball questions right back at him. The last question she asked posed a bit more of a problem.
Zen Walked around the public square where people were eating and playing and talking. He thought about the question for a few seconds before responding "Yeah, Granddad wants to keep the agency in the family so, it's up to me I guess, I don't really care that much but I guess it's half decent job security" He shrugged as his eyes scanned the crowds looking for potential danger. He wasn't sure how much the little bird at but Whatever she didn't finish he'd help himself to, he's just have to stay away from the bird options, for obvious reasons.
Once the server came over with a clipboard instead of their normal pad, Zenkai knew she was ready to take their order "Sup Sophia, Me and my little bird friend here Will take the nachos, with the works, Sixty tacos, ten beef, ten carne asada, ten alligator, ten alpaca, ten pork and ten bean. Also lets get 10 beef chimichangas, six refried bean burritos, Eight Kangaroo quesadillas and like fourteen churros for desert. Oh and like four cokes, two for each of us" Sophia for her part was pretty quick on writing everything down, having gotten used to his massive orders at this point, Juan, having overheard the order had already started making preparations on the food.
With the order complete Zen turned back to his Avian accomplice and smiled "So...What brought you to U.A.?" He asked, figuring that that was a good place to start to get to know each other. "Also... the popcorn girl seemed pretty pissed at me during orientation didn't she? Apparently they had to go on patrols as apart of their study which was while annoying but reasonable for students in the Heroes study department. What he didn't understand was Why they were being sent to some local part to deal with high school students.
"If people need help, we help, We should always do our best to help others, bring about the happiness others and strive to maintain the peace whether that means stopping a villain or helping someone get their cat back" The titan took a handful of the chocolate peanut butter pieces and shoved them in his mouth. He always enjoyed it When hero work and buddhism lined up, even if he wasn't exactly a strict follower of the religion, it left him without a guilty conscience and the nagging of Monk Gyatso that always nagged at him in the back of his mind Whenever he strayed from the Eightfold path.
"Still don't understand Why we're dealing with a bunch of rowdy highschoolers though, sounds like a job for the police and not heroes but...I guess that's Why you're having your philosophical dilemma" The golden boi stopped as he looked over to the convenience store, now craving some raw fish. The kid standing in front of him certainly seemed to care a lot about his appearance, he seemed to be well dressed and his hair was certainly well groomed, he was the kind of pretty boy you'd expect to see in magazines or like a cologne commercial or some shit. One thing was clear to Zen though: He definitely didn't know how to open a door.
"Oh, your brother, guess that's a bit better" Zenkai shrugged as he watched the kid bow and go through the regular Japanese greeting. It certainly was a bit different than the monastery, the bowing part he got but they never said shit as ridiculous as that before. "Yeah...You don't have to do that" The titan spoke in English as he gave the smaller student a firm pat on the arm "I don't really care"
Turning to Auden's door Zenkai continued to speak "Zenkai Hatake, If this is your door, than I guess we are neighbors" Zen grabbed onto the door knob before slamming his shoulder into the door, breaking the door clean off it's hinges "And don't worry about the noise, I don't really care, I'm sure we'll be loud as hell as well...Though, can't say the same if you disturb Beary-boo" The titan pointed to the resting bear as he set the door aside "Anyway, I opened the door for you Auddy-chan" He said, giving the boy a thumbs up. In order to change the conversation and hopefully distract her Zenkai continued on with their original conversation, hurrying along as Tamaki told him to move it. Tacos, in the titan's mind was the pinnacle of culinary achievement and Robin's fate was sealed the second she had agreed to go eat with him. He didn't really know much about Robin besides the fact she seemed to be a bird and her name was Robin. They had just met at orientation and since they both seemed to have a penchant for not paying attention Zenkai decided that this was enough for the basis of their entire friendship.
"I found this Really nice Mexican place like a week ago thanks to Beary-chan's vet and like..Not going to lie, it's pretty good! Dude who owns it is like half Japanese, Half Mexican so I think it's like, pretty legit? Zen explained as the two of them walked down the street to the Taco Hut. Honestly, Zen hadn't had any good Mexican food since he'd left New York and that had been so long ago he didn't fully remember what the heck good Mexican food tasted like anyone.

He disliked it but considering that he wasn't about to use his quirk ever again, he'd have to get stronger in other ways to make up for that deficit. It was just like Freja, for all intents and purposes, he was quirkless which meant he'd have to double up on training. He just wished it was so much work. Why wasn't there a way he could just passively get stronger?
"Y'know Beary, it's kind of annoying how much they expect you to work out in this place" The titan opened one of the 80 burritos in his arms and tossed it over to the bear who caught it in her mouth. "I thought I Was going to be doing mock battles or some shit today, not training exercises! Like, Why do I have to run, lift weights and all that shit? So dumb" The titan rolled his eyes as he chewed on his own burrito, walking into the common rooms and over to the table where Farrin slept, the chair groaning under his weight.
The Honored one dumbed all of his burritos onto the table before continuing his conversation with his conversation with the bear. "On top of that, having to go intern at Granddad's agency? Might as well have just stayed at the monastery! The bear huffed angrily at this, she was apart of his grandfather's agency after he discovered her as a cub and she very much enjoyed Zen's presence "I guess that's true, I am glad to have met you my little beary-boo" The titan cooed in a voice that everyone uses when talking to animals as he scratched beary under her chin before handing her another Burrito.

It Was a quiet day and Zenkai didn't really feel like doing anything besides being lazy, anything else was honestly Way too much work.
His entertainment Was interrupted When he heard another student outside of his room. His door Was open so it was pretty easy to listen in on the conversation. It sounded like a kid talking to their worried parent or something, though With the mention of an office it made it sound like they were an educator here at school. Zenkai couldn't imagine how awkward it must be to have a professor as a parent, they could just like...Walk up to you at any time, or into your room, sounded like a drag to be honest.
With the episode over Zenkai put his phone down, leaving Beary-chan to watch the next episode as he made his way over to his door way, leaning against the door frame to look at his new neighbor "So, your dad bothering the shit out of you on day one?" She was nice...Albeit a bit grumpy, he was still a bit confused as to why she always replied to his texts, considering he messaged her about everything from Beary-chans diet and health to simple messages like "I'm bored" "Help me be less bored" "Where the good food at". Honestly she had the patience of a saint for dealing with his shit and he was going to abuse the heck out of that patience.
"Listen" Zenkai started before taking a long sip of his latte "You COULD have said no, but you didn't" The Sapphire eyed titan teased, bumping into Tamaki With his hip. Zenkai groaned as he walked down the street, the pro hero hero they were patrolling with was a few blocks away securing another area of the route.
Did Zenkai know anything about his new companion? Absolutely nothing beyond her name. He had met her on his way off of Campus to go to his grandfather's hero agency for his internship and after getting Freja's name he decided to drag her along with him to his internship, partially out of spite, partially because he didn't want to do this alone. He didn't know the exact ratio but it was probably about 50%/50% at this point and besides his granddad told him to make friends and what better way to become friends than to be stuck on patrol together?
"So...Like...What's your quirk or interests or hobbies or goals or Whatever? I have no idea how people make friends anymore" Zenkai's tone was somewhere between lackluster and bored as he tried to strike up a conversation with Freja to pass the time. The Monotony of patrolling was getting to him and he was starting to get a little uncomfortable with the stares he was receiving from being in his Hero Suit. While he did like how he looked, he still didn't really understand why he needed to wear an outfit to go on patrol, Wouldn't plain clothes just be easier? The sapphire-eyed Titan had only met his roommate this morning but he couldn't help but appreciate the dude's presence. Kei seemed like a kind person, little on the goofy side but kind. Kei was a year ahead of him but the school had put them together since Zenkai has spent the last 4 years in a monastery and no idea what the hell was going on. Apparently Kei would be the perfect person to help him with acclimating once again.
Their initial meeting was kind of awkward with the two of them exchanging the normal greetings and talking about the room before it was decided that they should go to Ikea to grab some things to make their dorm room feel more like a home. It was to be a bonding trip, or at least that was how it was explained to Zen. The Titan himself didn't mind much, he didn't exactly know anyone in U.A. and their orientation wasn't until tomorrow so a little adventure to deepen their friendship seemed like a good idea. As long as Kei didn't try and find out too much about him they would get along just fine.
So, the two of them left the dorms, leaving Beary-chan behind much to her chagrin, and got on a train to tokyo to go to the Ikea that just opened up. It would be a good place to get some nice things for their dorm room, easy to build, good looking and cheap. Plus, Zen had heard good things about their meatballs and couldn't help but wonder if they would live up to the hype.
"I think they've also got some cute stuffed animals too, though we're not getting the bears, Beary will get jealous and just destroy that thing." Zenkai looked down at his much shorter roommate. Kei had probably made a list, he seemed like the kind of person who would make a list instead of keeping it all in his brain like Zenkai was doing.
