The former, after they had secured the injured at the hospital, the latter shortly after self-defense gave him the pass to come to his fellow student's aid. I mean, Farrin had to defend himself, right? Students were allowed to do that. So, if he just happened to be near the many dangers plaguing the city and needed to continue defending himself, he technically wasn't breaking any rules.
It wasn't the strongest defense, but it would do. People were dying. How could an aspiring hero just stand by or hide away when the innocent were killed? Farrin believed in the system, but every system required a little rule-bending occasionally. His actions could hardly be said to be his own. In the face of danger, when others were in harm's way, his body simply moved of its own accord. And so, he moved deeper into the heart of the city.
One city block peeled away after another. He wasn't time-turned, opting to save the use of his quirk for when he needed it, but still, he ran down the sidewalk toward the pop of distant gunfire. No turning back now. The only way left to him was forward - toward the danger. So, albeit at incredibly reduced speeds, that's where Farrin ran. The city was in chaos; it needed those who would fight for justice. He threw the driver over his shoulder, eyeing the scene unfolding before himself and his friend. While one hand latched the driver down, the other balled into a fist. The wailing of police sirens was all that staved Farrin's glare. He wanted to help, to fight these thugs who thought they could start tearing the place apart and do whatever they wanted, but students weren't supposed to take action without UA approval or supervision unless they were in the way of immediate harm. As of now, neither of them were targets. If only they were. Then, they could fight back.
"I think there's a hospital jus' a few blocks over," Farrin called back behind him, recalling the time he had volunteered there to help Sada.
With that, Farrin would turn away from the chaos and start in the opposite direction. A tear ran through his consciousness. Coward. Recreant. Weak. These words were whispered in his ear from one side. Adherent. Disciplined. Faithful. These rang out from the other. He wanted to fight back. To contain the threats, freeing the heroes and police to allocate their resources elsewhere. But he had opted into this system. That meant he needed faith in it, no matter how much it ate him up. For now, at least.
Civilians ran from the fighting. Many screamed or took to safety within the many stores and buildings nearby. It was a mess. The students couldn't fight but could help those too injured or scared to help themselves.
"C'mon, follow us, we'll get yuh ta' safety!" He shouted. There was no knowing what condition the hospital was in, but the odds were it would be of high priority to the police amidst the chaos. Schools, hospitals, government buildings. They would likely play center to the authority's defensive efforts.

atigue weighs tons on Farrin's shoulders. Like the others, he was tiring. He wasn't out for the count yet, but speeding everyone up early, keeping the Black Sin contained, and saving those initial civvies had proved taxing. Yet still, the time-turner's hand rose, ready to slow the armored transport's wheels so that Prism and Ironclad could contain the threat, but the two had pieced together their own unsolvable puzzle for the pretend villain: how to use what was now quite the stoppable force to break through an immovable object. With Bravo face to face with Ironclad's defense, armed only with the vehicle Miroru had handicapped, there was only one thing left to do.
Farrin leaned down into his knees, nearly lowering into runner's start, mustered the temporal powers, then beamed ahead - a streak of light cut across the street. The hero-aspirant blazed through the distance, his soaked hair whipping back as he leaped toward the wall of a nearby building. The wall was his springboard now, from which Farrin launched high - high enough that he was falling over Bravo.
Alabaster light swirled in the student's wake, and Farrin pulled his fist back. "The show ends now!" He shouted, the temporal light seemingly radiating from his fist. Farrin thrust his fist forward for Bravo's chest.
Bravo was a pro, but Farrin still didn't want to risk more permanent damage by hitting the guy in the head. If the shot connected, though, the speed and downward momentum of the time-turner's fall was sure to spell the end of the simulation. If Bravo got back up, the three students would surely be too tired to go another round, especially if he roped those guards back under his spell. It was all or nothing. This test ended now! As he and Farrin began cuffing the battered crooks, Apo would continue with Kei, "Think nothing of it. A hero's job and all that. And good to hear. I heard Barty set up one of the training facilities with quite a few of our modified villain bots, various elemental launchers, and such, but you didn't hear that from me," he chuckled.
Farrin flipped another of the goons over with his foot, then leaned down to cuff his hands behind his back. They were unconscious, but nobody needed one of the angry bastards to wake up and cause more trouble. Farrin smirked with Kei's thanks. He was a good lad. Farrin's hot temper when it came to his watch might have put him in danger, and yet he was still thanking Farrin, though truth be told, it was looking like they would have to fight regardless. The head honcho had had that knife to Farrin's throat. Farrin was fast, not stone-skinned.
"No need ta' thank me, bud. Like Apo said, it's a hero's job. N' I'll be okay. Been beat up worse than this before."
It was a small tell. Perhaps the slightest, vaguest hint at Farrin's experiences back home. Yeah, getting jumped was nothing new to him at this point. Factor in years of training and the myriad experiences he was having outside of UAU's walls now, and these nightly brawls were quickly becoming old hat, not that he would mention as much.
"I'm just glad yer no' too hurt," he said, pausing for a moment before continuing, "n' that yer suit held up so well. Deflectin' a feckin' bullet. That's feckin' deadly. Absolute aces."
A few more upgrades, and who knew what he would be tanking next? Before, his outfit was mostly for show. It could deflect a few light slashes from knives, but a bullet? Kei had nailed it; two for two now! Between the linear cannons and the hero suit, Farrin would soon have all his bases covered - and it was Kei's brilliant brain that was getting him there.

His chest heaved, his lungs burned, and the slash along his leg was a small inferno of pain. Moreover, keeping the acceleration field over him and Freja imposed its mental tariff. It was difficult work keeping a field shaped perfectly to a person's body. If he messed up, he could cause their blood to clot due to accelerated blood flow in some parts of the body and not others or kill them in a myriad of other ways.
"A lot o' practice," he huffed, wiping the sweat from his brow, and scanning over the field. "Used ta' race against cars as a kid. Did some other things too."
Like pickpocketing people's wallets, he wasn't about to get into the nitty-gritty. There was a predator about, someone after Freja - his friend. The students were wounded, but so was the big bastard trying to take a chunk out of them. This next move had to decide the winner. They had the advantage of choice. He dictated the when and where of the attack due to this phasing ability that accompanied his reptilian mutation. The students, however, had an advantage in numbers. Whoever the gator chose to attack, they could pincer the bastard. And that's exactly what Farrin did.
The gator made his move. After Freja's retaliatory strike, he lunged for her. Farrin slowed his breath and built up the temporal powers in his arm. Concentration. He needed absolute concentration. The world went blank. There was only himself, Freja, and the villain that sought to do her harm. A clear path between them. And so the pincer shut.
Farrin burst forward at his best speed and leaped up into the air. The wind blew his hair this way, and that, and white motes of temporal light flared about his arm. Countless microscopic fields burst just ahead of his now balled-up fist. He threw the jab ahead as he fell toward the giant's back.
"Temporal," he muttered, quickly crossing the distance,
"SMASH!"
It was the imperfect version of the ultimate move he had been working on. He still hadn't quite got it down, but even this incomplete attack would invite devastating damage upon his enemies. It had crumbled the stone spire back in the training facility; now, it was turned against his enemies. The field ignited, flaring in and out of existence all the faster. Some accelerated the matter they encompassed, others slowed it down, and the connection of Farrin's fist primed the figurative explosion. The pain would certainly be similar. Time acceleration and deceleration of various spaces, in this case, a small part of the gator's back, to such concentrated degrees that it would feel like he was being torn apart from the inside. The blow landed, and the villain flew into the distant tree line.
Many of the trees tumbled, smashed to bits. An unintended consequence, but it was worth it to see Freja safe. Farrin rolled along the ground again, dirt and grass building along his outfit, until he came to a full stop. This time, he stayed down. He coughed repeatedly and felt as those his lungs were about to vacate his body, but when they didn't, he would sit up. If that didn't do it, the two of them were toast.
"Yuh' okay, lass?" he finally managed after a few breaths, looking over in Freja's direction. Still thinkin' that other place, Dougie's, was the best so far," Farrin chirped to Zen as they vacated the latest pizza place on their list. The pizza prowl was an ongoing mission for the two New Yorkers, ever searching for the best slice in Japan. Farrin was pretty set on the NY-style joint he had just mentioned. None others had lived up so far. Still, the search continued.
The two were a ways out from campus still. The city was dense with traffic. People too. The collective heat shimmered and waved under a beating sun. An array of obstacles that would slow the students on their return trip. Well, that and the fact that Farrin wasn't really supposed to use his quirk off campus unless necessary.
"I'm givin' this place a five outta-"
The incontestable rating trailed into the wind, cut off just as the two students were along the sidewalk by a car roaring before crashing into the building just beside them. An agonizing shriek bellowed from the vehicle accompanied by a spreading flame and debris that whipped into the air.
"Ah shite, let's get 'em outta there," Farrin waved Zenkai along and sprinted toward the vehicle.
Farrin peeled the door on the driver's side away. Within, the driver lay unconscious. The passenger, however, was bloodied and screaming. While Zenkai handled the passenger, Farrin pulled the driver out.
"C'mon, we gotta get these two ta'-"
Again Farrin was cut off, this time by the crack of firearms fire. Two thugs smashed the window of a nearby store, jumping inside. Further down the street, one fella with a reptilian quirk was spitting fire every which way. Chaos. Complete and utter chaos.
"What the bleedin' hell is goin' on?" Farrin muttered. "Let's get these two inside n' see if anyone else needs some help."

For the moment at least Farrin was more interested in the interactive options. Yes, his stomach continued to growl, but when wasn't he hungry? This was nothing new. What's more, when he pulled at the first few strings he was rewarded only with a few candy bars far off from the prizes he had in mind for Sada and Natsumi. When he failed to win stuffed animals and creatures he had eyed, well, it only stoked his competitive side into throwing down more money for more chances.
The candies he continued to win were but fuel to stave off his hunger. "Dammit," he muttered under his breath. The time-turner was not the most graceful loser. Farrin played to win. It was almost by process of elimination that he eventually won a stuffed dragon toy, that one was intended for Sada, but he wasn't about to quit now. He had his eyes on a similar stuffed toy for Natsumi. She came all the way out here with him at an early hour and was willing to educate him on the festival. He had to do right by her too.
"Hold up, hold up, I've almost got it," he said after a few more strings had been tugged only for him to earn a few more chocolate calories.
Determination flowed through his veins. Focus shone bright in his eyes. And money continued to pour onto the counter. At this rate, he was going to buy out half the string himself. But Farrin was a man on a mission. Another candy bar. Then a metal bouncy coil. Finally! He did it! A stuffed toy fairy. Basically the same thing as a sprite!
"Ha! Brilliant! Knew I had it!" He wasn't about to acknowledge how many attempts it took. He would take the victory. "Alrighty, have this one fer' Sada," he started, packing the dragon in a plastic bag, "n' this one is fer you," he said, handing the sprite to Natsumi. "As a thank yuh' fer taggin' along out 'ere. Anyway, let's go get that karaage, then check out more o' what they have goin' on 'round 'ere."

Farrin had first encountered the lad while critiquing his sparring match with another student alongside Jason Riviera. His quirk saw him grow bone-like blades from his wrists. It also stoked the fella's aggression, which was the real point of the training. Hiroshi needed to get that aggression under control, even while in a scrap. In need of more sparring partners after most away after orientation, Farrin obliged.
Farrin's fists battered the reinforced bone like a drum. With every blow, another crack boomed across the physical education grounds. Hiroshi was forced onto the defensive. If anything would get his blood boiling, it was the absolute denial that came with facing the time-turner. Hiroshi flourished on the offensive, but Farrin wouldn't budge, wouldn't waver in his attack. He had trained for several years before entering UAU's gates. There was no denying his advantage over most of his peers. His very first week at the university was marked by a sparring match against the former pro-hero, Professor Leonid, where he had nearly toppled the beast... before having his arm broken. Still, it was clear Farrin knew his way around a scrap, a point he was now demonstrating yet again.
The flurry of fists was ceaseless. The only pause came when Farrin spun into a low kick that swept Hiroshi's legs out from under him. The lad was planted in the ground, and there he stayed, heaving. His gaze lacked the daggers he stared Farrin down with during their first meeting though. That was progress.
It was then Farrin heard someone call his name. A blond-haired lad just a few inches shorter than himself. "Eh, well, yuh' found him," Farrin called back, slowing his breath and helping Hiroshi to his feet. Hiroshi dusted himself off. He was alright. No need to burden the university staff. So, Farrin approached Gabriel. "N' who might you be?" He asked, extending a hand. He still didn't really do the bowing thing.

For once, Farrin didn't feel the threads of the temporal sea tugging at his mind. He was completely clear. No sifting dreams. No super speed either. Odd. Extremely odd.
Pros and cons. Farrin loved his chronokinetic boons, but the lack of horrific visions of terrible fates across time haunting his mind was certainly something he could get used to. What's more, he was gifted with an entirely new quirk. The ramifications of such an oddity could wait. For now, he was putting his new abilities to the test. Apparently, according to the news, it was happening to everyone anyway. This could spell a complete paradigm shift across the globe. Best get used to his new powers now.
So, Farrin ventured outside the dorms, and that's where he let the lightning loose. It was exactly like the dark side powers of some old sci-fi he absolutely loved. Farrin's fingers were splayed out before him, and from them, he loosed an electrical current that singed the grass. It was when he finished stomping out the neonate flames that the former time-turner made his way to the cafeteria. Putting this new quirk to the test was working up an appetite. And it was there he heard the titan call his name.
"Yeah, seems e'eryone's quirks are changin'," he replied, watching Zen's display of newfound telekinetic prowess. Farrin lifted his fingers, and forced a few sparks to dance between them, "Apparently I shoot lightnin' from me' fingers now," he said with a grin. Yeah, he was certainly going to have some questions for... well... the world later. Problematic as chronokinesis could be, he had grown attached to his time-turning powers. For the moment though, he had to get a handle on these new abilities.

The thunderous stomps of Zen's approach, however, put a stopper on that. As Zenkai declared Jason a rodent and started to lift the little lad, Farrin stood his height and tried to wave Zen's attention away from Jason and onto himself.
"Oi, no, no. Zen, put the lad down. That's no' a-" Then they lobbed Jason off the boat. "Yuh bleedin' neanderthal," he cursed, running up onto the yacht's railing and readying to dive. Another student was already making his move though. With one burst, the draconic boy intercepted the fox, and with another, they made a return trip onto the boat.
Farrin exhaled heavily, turning to make his way to the ship's bow. While Sumi made her announcement, Farrin looked Jason and his savior over from further down the yacht. Not the most balletic landing on the latter's part but neither appeared truly injured. And that entire encounter was one more reason Farrin wasn't a drinker.
Turning his attention up to their host, Farrin caught the gist of the announcement. An even bigger ship rose from the watery depths, and it was to be something of a playground. Teams. Numbers. Scavenger hunt. Money.
Farrin looked to his hand to find the number ten placed upon it. Conveniently, a familiar sight of light, the number ten as well, hovered at the ship's bow. If anything, he knew at least one of his teammates. So, Farrin approached to find both Miroru and Thea waiting below Miroru's display.
He kept the outside of his palm raised, showing them the team number as well. "Well, this outta be somethin'," he offered the duo, standing in wait for any other teammates.

From what he heard, both had passed, and that hadn't surprised him in the least. Rather than play obstacles to one another, the trio had worked together to overcome the exam's many challenges. In the end, they triumphed.
"Yeah, both of 'em were quite capable. One, Johanna, usin' the hero alias Ironclad, could manipulate metal wit' a touch. Make herself some armor, or use it ta' barrage n' enemy n' such. The other, Miroru, or Prism, could manipulate EM particles n' such. She could bend light ta' create signs fer' us a follow or blind enemies in fields o' darkness, or even stop weapons from firin' by removin' heat n' such."
Both had impressed. Johanna with her raw physical prowess, and Miroru with her power's flexibility and the precision with which she wielded her quirk. It wouldn't have surprised him if either of the two had also attended a hero prep school or at least received some form of training. He could go on a rant about how the test had gone, but instead, Farrin turned to face his friend. He wasn't the best at reading people, but Farrin's lack of social skills had been compensated for in this instance with his and Kenta's tenure as friends. Something was gnawing at the lad.
"N' no problem, bud. Look, we're gonna be aces 'ere. We've got this. We went through Hero Prep. We can get through this."
Kenta's greatest weakness had always been himself. He got in his own head, in his own way too. There were few shackles heavier than those we imposed on ourselves. Farrin was the least social of the trio between himself, Kenta, and Sada, but he was confident in his abilities. Brazenly confident. It's why others in Hero Prep had avoided him. They couldn't bully the oddball, because this oddball could beat the snot out of them. If he could inspire some of that confidence in Kenta, there were no limits to how high the lad could fly.
